After Transmigration, The Yandere’s Kiss Extends My Life

Chapter 58 Injured

The person he was thinking of day and night was by his side, but Yu Yuan couldn’t sleep.

He was lying flat on the bed, with the sweet scent of Yan Mu lingering on his nose.

He turned over and took the young girl with her back to him into his arms.

Her body stiffened, and her breathing seemed to quicken too.

Yu Yuan slightly curled his lips, pretending not to know, and hugged the young girl even tighter.

The autumn night was slightly cool, and with her back pressed against Yu Yuan’s chest, Yan Mu felt like she was leaning against a large stove.

Yan Mu was reluctant to leave her source of heat, so she deliberately closed her eyes and pretended to be asleep.

She seemed to hear Yu Yuan’s soft chuckle.

The side room wasn’t big, and naturally, the bed wasn’t either, so their faces were almost pressed together.

Yan Mu’s breath spilled softly onto Yu Yuan’s face.

Yu Yuan restrained the urge to kiss her.

Yan Mu moved into Yu Yuan’s arms and found a comfortable position to hug him in.

“You still have a mission tomorrow, go to sleep,” she softly said.

“Mmm,” Yu Yuan’s eyes flickered slightly, and he closed his eyes obediently.

He remembered the past few times Yan Mu had secretly kissed him.

Will Ah Mu also steal a kiss from me tonight?

Yu Yuan’s heart was filled with indescribable expectations.

The moon rose to the top of the willows, and the night was getting late.

Yu Yuan was lying on Yan Mu’s side, breathing steadily and with a serene expression, seemingly asleep.

However, Yan Mu remembered the dangers of stealing a kiss last time, so she was momentarily hesitant, not knowing how to make a move.

She propped up her body, leaned close to Yu Yuan’s ear and whispered, “Yu Yuan, are you asleep?”

The teenager’s breathing was still steady, showing no sign of waking up.

But Yan Mu was still too afraid and didn’t dare.

She tossed and turned, unable to sleep.

Yu Yuan had been very busy lately, and she might not be able to see him for a while.

In the end, her desire to survive still prevailed.

Yan Mu still mustered up the courage to place a fleeting1蜻蜓点水 (qīngtíng-diǎnshuǐ) – like a dragonfly skimming the surface of the water (idiom); just touch on something lightly without going into it deeply kiss on Yu Yuan’s lips.

She sighed in relief, feeling like she’d accomplished a major task.

The scarlet on Yan Mu’s face remained.

After kissing the teenager, she felt as if she wasn’t that cold anymore, on the contrary, she felt a little hot.

Yan Mu kicked off the quilt and turned her back to Yu Yuan.

Her mind was in a mess, and she took a long time to fall asleep.

In the haze, someone seemed to let out a soft sigh.

Then, that person covered her with the quilt, carefully tucking in the corners.

“Ah Mu is still as stupid as before.” Yu Yuan’s lips gently rubbed against the side of Yan Mu’s ear.

He looked at the young girl’s quiet and peaceful sleeping face, and a dangerous glint flashed in his eyes.

“Ah Mu, it should be my turn now.” The corners of Yu Yuan’s mouth slightly curled and he kissed her rosy lips.

***************

The next day, when Yan Mu woke up, Yu Yuan was getting dressed and preparing to go out.

“Yu Yuan, are you going on that very dangerous mission now?” Yan Mu looked at the teenager with a little worry.

The teenager’s stance was tall and straight, like pine and cypress.

Currently, Yu Yuan was almost 1.8 meters tall, his waist was thin and his legs were long.

It was really exciting to see a beauty changing early in the morning.

Yan Mu looked at the teenager’s strong and thin waist and couldn’t help but swallow.

Advertisements

“Mmm.” Yu Yuan didn’t seem to notice her gaze, as he was focused on putting on his coat. “I’ll be back later tonight. You and Ah Yu have dinner first, don’t wait for me.”

He finished getting dressed and came to Yan Mu’s bed.

The tall teenager stood in front of the bed, looking down2居高临下 (jūgāo-línxià) – to live high and look down (idiom); fig. Arrogance based on one’s social position; occupy a commanding position (or height); to overlook; to tower above; at the young girl who was sitting in a daze.

Yan Mu actually felt a little oppressed.

Yu Yuan’s gaze stopped on Yan Mu’s lips for a moment, then moved away as if nothing had happened.

“The military doctor’s burn ointment is very effective. Your finger was burned last night, do you want me to bring you some?” Yu Yuan said as he reached for Yan Mu’s hand to check.

Yan Mu couldn’t dodge in time and Yu Yuan grabbed her hand.

“Huh?” Yu Yuan’s brows furrowed slightly.

The young girl’s finger was white and flawless, as if carved from white jade. There weren’t any burn wounds at all.

What happened yesterday seemed like an illusion. If Yu Yuan hadn’t seen the young girl being scalded with his own eyes, he would’ve thought that he’d been dreaming.

Taking advantage of Yu Yuan’s bewilderment, Yan Mu hurriedly withdrew her finger.

“It wasn’t that serious anyway, so it’s already healed,” Yan Mu hurriedly said.

She looked at Yu Yuan with some apprehension, afraid that he would ask further.

But unexpectedly, Yu Yuan only frowned, then his expression quickly returned to being calm.

“It’s good that Ah Mu is okay,” Yu Yuan said faintly.

Seeing that Yu Yuan didn’t ask any further, Yan Mu thought that the matter was over.

However, she still felt a little guilty after all.

So, Yan Mu jumped off the bed and stood on tiptoe to fix the teenager’s hair crown3Looks something like this: .

She was fixing it very seriously, and didn’t even notice that Yu Yuan was looking at her right then.

Yu Yuan was looking at Yan Mu’s lips.

But at that moment, his mind wasn’t full of charming thoughts.

He was recalling something.

Last time, when he stole a kiss from Yan Mu, her lips were clearly injured from being accidentally bumped.

But the next day, Yan Mu’s wound had suddenly healed.

Exactly the same as this time.

Even if an ordinary person naturally healed quickly, it was impossible to completely recover back to before overnight without any signs of scars.

Moreover, Yan Mu’s body was originally weak, so logically speaking, Yan Mu should recover more slowly than a normal person.

Yu Yuan was lost in thought.

Yan Mu was oblivious to Yu Yuan’s inquiring gaze. She carefully smoothed out the folds on Yu Yuan’s collar after fixing his hair crown.

“You must be careful and come back early.” Yan Mu’s hands were still on Yu Yuan’s collar as she raised her head, her eyes filled with worry.

She knew that Yu Yuan was the male lead, and male leads had strong fates so they wouldn’t die easily.

But, even if he wouldn’t die easily, Yu Yuan would still feel pain if he was injured!

Her clear apricot eyes met the teenager’s dark pupils.

Yu Yuan retracted his inquisitive expression and nodded with a gentle expression.

***************

The mission this time was very dangerous, but unfortunately the Eldest Prince knew the principle ‘a wily hare has three burrows4狡兔三窟 (jiǎotù-sānkū) – a sly individual has more than one plan to fall back on/a crafty person has more than one hideout (idiom)’, so Chu Cong only caught a few small shrimps but not anyone of importance.

Chu Cong was livid, but he didn’t say anything.

Qi Er’s arm was almost cut off, but fortunately, the military doctor treated him in time, and his hand was somewhat saved.

Yu Yuan’s abdomen was cut by a gash and bled heavily, but luckily, the wound wasn’t deep and it wasn’t life-threatening.

The military doctor’s treatment could only be considered emergency treatment, and if they wanted better medical care, they still had to go back to the residence and let the imperial physician take over.

Qi Er was the most seriously injured, and Chu Cong was worried about his hand, so he dragged Yu Yuan with him to return to the residence as fast as they could.

Qi Er had fallen into a coma, his injured hand holding a blood-stained safety amulet.

“Miss Hua Ping mustn’t know about this.” Ah Bu instructed the others not to leak a word, “This safety amulet was given to him by Miss Hua Ping.”

Yu Yuan slightly squinted his eyes, covering his wound and seemingly lost in thought.

After a long time, he raised his eyes and nonchalantly asked, “Are there really Gods and Buddhas in this world?”

“……It’s better to believe in them,” Ah Bu was somewhat stunned.

“How rare, I remember you don’t believe in ghosts and gods, why are you suddenly asking about this?” Chu Cong asked.

Under the imperial physician’s treatment, Qi Er’s injuries were stabilized, and Chu Cong’s anxious mood had eased a little, so he was at least in the mood to speak.

Yu Yuan thought of Yan Mu’s disappearing wound and pursed his lips, but in the end he didn’t speak.

He took some medicine for his injury and deliberately didn’t let the imperial physician treat his wound or change out of his blood-stained clothes.

He found a coachman from the residence and ordered him to send him to the bookstore.

Yu Yuan was Chu Cong’s favorite5红人 (hóngrén) – a favorite of somebody in power, so the coachman naturally agreed to all of his requests.

Yu Yuan sat in the horse carriage with his eyes closed to rest.

After a while, he suddenly opened his eyes.

Yu Yuan pulled out his dagger and made another cut along the wound.

The wound was originally wide and long, and the additional slash made it look even more terrifying.

As if that wasn’t enough, he reached out his finger and dug into the wound again.

Yu Yuan’s face was deadly pale as he did so, and his entire face distorted a little from the pain.

However, those black eyes looked like they were burning with a raging flame, emitting a strange glint.

Ah Mu will surely be very worried when she sees me so badly injured, right?

Once Ah Mu was worried, he could naturally stay by her side without having to keep his distance from her.

Yu Yuan was trembling with excitement.

His wound was dripping with blood, soaking the carriage cushion.

The coachman smelled the strong stench of blood and turned his head to ask, “Lord Yu, are you all right?”

Lord Yu was Chu Cong’s favorite, so he couldn’t die in the carriage he was driving.

The coachman was drenched in sweat and fearfully6心惊胆颤 (xīnjīngdǎnchàn or xīnjīngdǎnzhàn) – lit. heart alarmed, trembling in fear (idiom); prostrate with fear; scared witless waited for Yu Yuan’s reply.

“……I’m alright.” Yu Yuan’s voice came from the carriage, very calm and no different from before.

The coachman breathed a sigh of relief and silently sped up the carriage.

When he arrived at the bookstore, he’d almost thanked all the Gods and Buddhas.

He went to knock on the door of the bookstore, but Yu Yuan had already walked down by himself.

The coachman looked back and only saw that Yu Yuan was a little pale, but could still move without any inconvenience and didn’t even frown.

As expected of His Highness’ favorite.

Sure enough, there was a reason some people had good prospects.

The coachman was secretly admiring him in his heart, but then saw a beautiful and elegant young girl open the door of the bookstore.

Before he could speak, he heard a thud behind him.

The coachman turned his head in astonishment, only to see that Lord Yu, who was still in glowing spirits7神采奕奕 (shéncǎiyìyì) – glowing with health and radiating vigor (an idiom); bursting with life just before, was now collapsed on the ground with a look of pain across his face.

“Yu Yuan!” He saw the young girl cry out in surprise and rush towards Lord Yu.

“Ah Mu, I’m in so much pain,” Yu Yuan weakly said.

The coachman watched dumbfoundedly from the side.

But he was a family man after all, and once he calmed down and thought about it, he figured out what was going on.

When he and his wife were at odds, he would sometimes deliberately pretend to be sick in order to get close to her again and find a way to smooth things over.

Lord Yu falling to the ground, unable to get back up, was similar to him pretending to be sick.

However, Yu Yuan was well-known for being cold and hard-hearted, so the coachman didn’t dare to say it outloud and upset him.

He could only put on a panicked expression and helped Yu Yuan into the side room together with Yan Mu.

“What really happened?” Yan Mu asked anxiously.

The coachman was a little hesitant, not knowing how to answer.

He subconsciously glanced at Yu Yuan, and discovered that his eyes were now open and staring at him with an icy-cold glare.

The coachman was startled and said, “Lord Yu has been seriously injured, and it would be best for Young Lady to watch over him closely8寸步不离 (cùnbùbùlí) – to follow somebody closely (idiom); to be hot on somebody’s heels; to be always at somebody’s elbow.”

After speaking, he glanced at Yu Yuan.

Now, Yu Yuan’s eyes were closed, his expression back to being calm.

Seems like I’ve muddled through it.

The coachman sighed in relief.

Yan Mu went to the courtyard to fetch water, asking the coachman to look after Yu Yuan in the side room first.

The coachman fearfully held his breath and respectfully stood guard by the bed.

“I heard you got married just two years ago and you have a one-year-old son,” Yu Yuan suddenly said.

His eyes were still closed, and his face was as pale as paper.

However, even though he was in such a weak state, the teenager’s frightening and oppressive aura wasn’t diminished in the slightest.

“Yes,” The coachman panicked when he heard Yu Yuan mention his wife and son. “What orders does Lord Yu have?”

Yu Yuan closed his eyes and rested, while the coachman held his breath in fear.

After a long time, the teenager seemed to let out a soft laugh.

The only hope I have is that thinking that yanderes on novels are cute isn’t equal to a super unhealthy attachment style in real life… 😂😂😂

Thank you for the wonderful translation again! I really like your notes about the language and collocations, they are so interesting!
