Hold On, You’re Something Else

Chapter 49.2

HOYSE 49.2 – (!)

In place of the previous footsteps, a new set approached, opening and closing the restroom door, then locking it. A familiar voice, sounding breathless as if in a rush, called out, “Gu Xi?”

The moment Gu Xi opened the door, his unique pheromonal scent rushed out, unmistakable.

Rong Jing suddenly pressed down on his head, feeling dizzy, realizing that the Omega he had encountered in Maya Shopping Mall was indeed Gu Xi. Back then, even a slight overflow of the scent felt like downing ten bottles of Erguotou.  Even with the self-restraint drug, he felt it had increased to fifty bottles now. He felt dizzy and disoriented.

That’s a little— No—

Every cell in Rong Jing’s body was frenzied, yearning to tear apart the Omega in front of him, even possess him. His Alpha instincts had already reached the limit of his willpower. Rong Jing reluctantly took a few steps back, afraid he would scare Gu Xi in his current state.

Rong Jing lowered his head, the two of them so close that they could see the sweat on each other’s faces. In the cramped space, the scents of suppressant and pheromones mingled.

“I might get a little rough. Don’t regret it,” Rong Jing said, his knuckles tight as he wiped the sweat from Gu Xi’s forehead. His eyes were bloodshot, unable to be gentle. He was losing control.

Gu Xi didn’t speak, simply removing the coat given by Mo Dian.

Rong Jing was inches away, his soft lips barely brushing against Gu Xi’s lips, his silence neither a response nor a refusal, but perhaps the best response.

Rong Jing turned Gu Xi over, pulling at the loose beige sweater.

Gu Xi was naturally fair-skinned, almost translucent. His swan-like neck and delicate collarbones, obscured in a blend of dim light and shadows, were slender yet not fragile.

With Gu Xi’s back turned to Rong Jing, a hint of nervousness mixed in with the dizziness. The heat continued to rise throughout their bodies, and only the sound of their breathing filled the air.

“Rong, Rong Jing, after the first marking, you’ll be affected too. You need to think about this…” …clearly.

They would both develop possessiveness towards each other once the marking was done.

“Mm!”

Before he could finish speaking, Rong Jing didn’t allow any room for regret, holding him down.

Gu Xi trembled all over, sweat trickling down from his forehead, tracing along his jawline to his neck.

Whimpering softly, he didn’t even know what he was saying. Whilst sinking into a dizzy sensation, his instinctive cries for help were stifled in the cradle.

The Alpha pheromones surged in, his blood beginning to resist, then slowly succumbing, gradually suppressed until ultimately devoured by dominance, accepting a completely new bodily experience.

Gu Xi’s lips quivered as he clenched his teeth to restrain the urge to fight back, constantly reminding himself that the person doing this to him was Rong Jing.

Outside, thunder rumbled deafeningly, accompanied by a torrential downpour.

In that small cubicle, a sense of proximity and distance intertwined. The warmth surrounding the two was gradually masked by the sound of rain.

In Gu Xi’s hazy thoughts, he recalled a post he had seen before, stating that an Omega’s first marking was often painful. If the match percentage was high, it would be a different scenario, but nowadays, it was all about being free to choose who you love. Finding a match with a high percentage rate was as rare as winning the lottery.

But at this moment, Gu Xi finally understood what that different scenario felt like.

Rong Jing stopped abruptly when he realized he could no longer control his grip. Resting his head on Gu Xi’s shoulder, his breath was rapid. In the midst of the confusion, only Gu Xi’s presence remained clear.

When they came to their senses, Gu Xi found himself still leaning against Rong Jing, who remained silent. He didn’t seem normal. He just silently straightened Gu Xi’s clothes.

Rong Jing sprayed some pheromone blocking spray near the restroom a few times, without even glancing at Gu Xi.

Don’t ask me. I haven’t recovered yet.

The two didn’t communicate for a long while yet it felt like everything had been said even without a word.

Unbeknownst to them, after they left, someone emerged from the corner nearby. The person stared at the backs of the two, hurrying to leave the restroom, until they disappeared from sight.

Chu Yang dialed a number, sounding cheerful and lively. “Uncle Wu, do you remember this Xiao Yang?”

Wu Hanqi: “Didn’t I tell you to behave at the sanatorium? Are you up to mischief again?”

Back then, at just fifteen years old, Chu Yang fell in love at first sight with Gu Xi. Being a spoiled child, he got whatever he wanted from his family, but Gu Xi was the only one who didn’t reciprocate his affection.

Since Gu Xi ignored him, he decided to tie him down until he relented.

Unfortunately, he was still too young and hadn’t matured enough to mark Gu Xi.

Later, after Gu Xi escaped, he was rescued by Wu Hanqi. Wu Hanqi reached an agreement with Chu Yang’s family. He also persuaded Gu Xi to drop the lawsuit, and in return, Chu Yang was sent to the sanatorium by the Chu family.

Chu Yang: “That place was so boring, no one played with me there! It took a lot of effort just to get out of there. Anyway Uncle Wu, a passerby snatched away my favorite toy!”

Meanwhile, Wu Hanqi was browsing through the FUN materials. After this project was snatched away by Rong Jing, Wu Hanqi casually studied it and found that it was indeed a good project.

Without delay, Wu Hanqi sent an urgent message to his assistants, instructing them to closely monitor all recent investments made by Rong Jing and to report back to him promptly.

There’s more to this kid than meets the eye.

Wu Hanqi listened to Chu Yang’s grumpy voice with divided attention. He replied noncommittally, “Then get it back.”

“But it’s a very strong Alpha, I might not stand a chance. Uncle Wu, I know you’re not one to help people.”

“Well, that depends on what you’re going to talk about next,” Wu Hanqi glanced at the sunset outside, where the colors of purple and orange danced in the clouds, a sight worth savoring.

“Apart from researching unknown poisons, does your lab also have a drug that can make people forget emotions, especially effective for strong emotions like love, for both Alphas and Omegas?”

Wu Hanqi raised an eyebrow, “That one’s still in the testing phase. How did you catch wind of that?”

Forgetting an emotion like love was just a fantastical notion. As a Beta, Wu Hanqi had an unusual enthusiasm for pheromones, viewing emotions much like them—if they could emerge, they could also vanish.

Chu Yang’s eyes lit up with surprise, “Have you forgotten my sister is in your lab? Uncle Wu, without your authorization, I can’t get it. Spare me a few, please?”

“Flattery won’t work on me. I’m not your parents, and this drug only works for an emotionally attached pair of an Alpha and Omega.”

With the influence of pheromones, it would be more effective.

Chu Yang exclaimed excitedly, “That’s perfect, then! It’s best not to get emotional!”

“I’m not interested in who you use it on, but if it implicates me, don’t blame me for being impolite later,” Wu Hanwi was short of experimental subjects, so he wouldn’t refuse business when it came to him freely. “Remember to sign the confidentiality agreement. Also, my things aren’t easy to obtain. You’ll need to pay the corresponding price.”

***

After parting ways with Rong Jing, Gu Xi waited for his legs to steady up a bit before finally making his way to the VIP lounge, still with half an hour to spare before boarding.

This time, since they were invited to the Venice Film Festival, their first-class tickets were covered by reimbursement, a rare luxury for a struggling film crew like them.

People around had been looking at Gu Xi since he walked in. He was busy rummaging through his backpack, trying to find his suppressants, when he noticed a strange box inside.

It was something Rong Jing mentioned he should check out on the plane. What could it be?

Gu Xi took it out and shook it, but the sound gave no clue. Probably just headphones or something, he thought.

He could feel the weight of all those eyes on him, almost every gender in the entire lounge was watching him. Even though he was used to a certain level of attention because he was fairly well-known, being stared at like this in an airport lounge was unusual, “?”

Liu Yu, being more discreet about his status as an LSP1LSP – 老色批 – translates to dirty old man, or just someone lustful and or likes erotic stuff, subtly advised Gu Xi, “You might want to go to the bathroom. With the way you’re looking right now, every Alpha in here is getting antsy.”

Puzzled, Gu Xi headed to the restroom. When he saw his reflection in the mirror, looking like he’d been thoroughly moisturized, he felt a flush of embarrassment and shamefully crouched down.

So, Rong Jing saw me like this when we parted?

Gu Xi turned on the tap of the washstand and splashed cold water on his face repeatedly, making sure he didn’t look as parched as he felt before heading out.

He wanted to send something to Rong Jing, to ease the tension that lingered after their separation, but he realized the location message he sent earlier hadn’t gone through.

If it didn’t send, how did Rong Jing find him?

He is too smart and clever.

What’s even weirder was the sky outside. How did it suddenly turn dark? Gu Xi saw other people’s Moments, but almost all of them were sunset pictures and were all in Beijing. How could the weather have two faces like this?

[Gu Xi, I really want you to only have eyes for me.]

Gu Xi still had a hard time hearing multiple voices in his head all at once. If it weren’t for Rong Jing’s voice that brought him relief, he felt like he might have already fallen apart.

Just then, he heard a somewhat familiar voice.

Chu Yang?!

There was no way Gu Xi could forget that voice from hell. He glanced around but didn’t see the one he was looking for.

Remaining composed, Gu Xi sat down and boarded the shuttle with the rest of the passengers. Throughout the journey, he kept an eye on the people around him.

After stowing his carry-on in the overhead compartment, Gu Xi sat back and watched as people filed in from outside the cabin.

First-class seats were limited, and he spotted a fully armed person sitting in the row in front of him. Despite the significant change in appearance of his body, he had already seen him not long ago. This was him.

This was Chu Yang, all grown up.
