Chapter 27: Repeatedly Falling for Schemes and Herbal Medicine

A figure emerged slowly from the darkness, their face concealed from the moonlight, making their expression unreadable.

Yet, from the moment Tao Huai felt the person’s presence, he knew exactly who it was.

He took a shallow sip from his cup and asked, “Care for some tea?”

“Good, then I’ll be on my way.”

As the words fell, a gust of wind swept through. When Tao Huai turned around again, only he and his sleeping wife remained in the room. He sighed deeply and shook his head, muttering, “Ah, these people, really… well, let it be, let it be.”

Immediately, he lowered his head and was about to pick up his tea cup, but then he suddenly realized—

“Wait, where’s my tea cup? Ugh… damn it, I clearly said I didn’t want it!”

After Long Qinghan returned, he couldn’t sit still. He felt that something was amiss, but Tao Huai was a puzzle he couldn’t quite solve. In his previous life, he had limited interactions with Tao Huai, only knowing that he was a person of contradictions.

Yet, if Tao Huai wasn’t the one who killed the village, then who could it be? And why would he assist Feng Xuanyang? Upon closer inspection, Tao Huai’s explanation of helping due to Feng Xuanyang’s revelation about the true and fake bride had some credibility.

Before his revival, Feng Xuanyang had killed Tao Huai’s beloved bride during the wedding banquet. This could explain why Tao Huai held a grudge against Feng Xuanyang. After his revival, Feng Xuanyang had informed him about the true and fake bride, avoiding a misunderstanding, and Tao Huai felt gratitude towards him.

However, his gratitude seemed too obvious, especially going as far as providing false testimony for Feng Xuanyang.

Long Qinghan sighed deeply, pushing aside these thoughts. He returned to the inn and laid down on the bed, but no matter how he tried, sleep eluded him. He had spent a passionate night with Feng Xuanyang, and the lingering scent of their encounter seemed to permeate the bed. However, he woke up alone, left only with his yearning.

He pulled the blanket around him, his legs tensed, and he unconsciously pressed his face into the pillow, inhaling deeply, hoping to catch a trace of Feng Xuanyang’s scent.

With a long sigh, he never expected that what they agreed to express their feelings openly would remain unfulfilled. Instead, he found himself consumed by desire.

As he continued to think, he yawned and closed his eyes slowly, eventually drifting into a deep slumber. Little did he know, after he fell asleep, someone approached silently, activated his sleep acupoints, and then held him close.

“Qinghan, I can’t bear to be without you anymore… Why don’t you take better care of yourself…?” The person gently removed Long Qinghan’s pants and took out a medicinal ointment from their pocket. After warming it in their hands, they applied it to Long Qinghan’s injury.

“Mmm…” Despite being under the influence of the sleep acupoint, Long Qinghan felt an unusual sensation that made him involuntarily moan.

Hearing the enchanting sound from his beloved, the person couldn’t help but lower their body, biting Long Qinghan’s earlobe and licking it a few times. With a malicious tone, they said, “I truly wish I could keep you for three days and nights.”

However, as if responding to their words, Long Qinghan, in his sleep, weakly muttered, “Scoundrel…”

“…” The person’s face darkened. He bit Long Qinghan more forcefully and nibbled several times, his hand exploring his body. They kissed him deeply a few times, dressed him, and then left.

The next morning, as Long Qinghan woke up, he felt something different about his body. He pulled open his clothes and noticed the marks on his skin, immediately realizing who was responsible for them. He took a deep breath and couldn’t hold back a loud exclamation, “Damn it, you scoundrel!”

In the morning, Long Qinghan searched everywhere for Feng Xuanyang but found that he had left Han Dong City. Unable to do anything about it, he left a few words with Long Mo and packed his belongings, then returned to the Tianjian Sect (Heavenly Sword Sect).

Before leaving, he seemed to think of something and stayed for an extra day to inquire about the person who had shouted and fled during the village’s destruction. However, that person seemed to have disappeared entirely, leaving Long Qinghan with no choice but to give up.

Han Dong City was about a ten-day journey from the Tianjian Sect. During these days on the road, he didn’t come across Feng Xuanyang.

However, just when Long Qinghan thought he wouldn’t see him again, he spotted a figure in the “Gouting Wine Shop.” There, sitting where they had once shared drinks, was a person dressed in flamboyant red. Without lifting their head, they poured wine and said, “Young Master Long, care for a drink?”

Long Qinghan was momentarily taken aback. He looked around and noticed the wine shop was quiet, with only Feng Xuanyang as a customer, busily pouring wine. Even the Blood Shadow couple was nowhere to be seen.

Seeing Feng Xuanyang, Long Qinghan couldn’t decide if he should be angry or happy. He was frustrated because Feng Xuanyang had taken advantage of him the previous night, leaving him still aching, but he was also relieved to finally see his beloved again and ease his longing.

Feng Xuanyang, on the other hand, wore a mischievous smile. Propping his chin on his hand, he teased, “Young Master Long, are you well?” The emphasis he placed on the second “well” seemed intentional, and he glanced pointedly at Long Qinghan’s backside.

Despite Long Qinghan’s usual composure, he found himself trembling with anger and nearly drew his sword to deal with Feng Xuanyang’s insolence.

Gritting his teeth, Long Qinghan managed to speak with great effort, enunciating each word, “I’m well, very well.”

Feng Xuanyang’s smile widened, and he spread his fingers on the table in front of him. “Young Master Long, care for a drink?”

Long Qinghan walked over with a glare, kicked a chair away, and sat down, giving Feng Xuanyang a harsh stare. He then snatched a wine cup, raised it as if to drink, but hesitated as the wine touched his lips. He put the cup down again, his voice cold, “No, I won’t drink.”

Feng Xuanyang was taken aback, chuckling as he leaned on the table. He moved closer to Long Qinghan and said, “Qinghan, you don’t think I’ve drugged the drink again, do you? But it’s broad daylight now, if you want, I wouldn’t dare do such a thing.”

A faint blush appeared on Long Qinghan’s face. He shot Feng Xuanyang a sideways glance, then boldly raised the wine cup, tilting his head back and drinking.

A glint passed through Feng Xuanyang’s eyes as he continued to pour wine and joked, “A single cup isn’t enough. Why not have a few more?”

Long Qinghan, without suspicion, glanced at him and continued to drink.

After a few cups, he finally asked in puzzlement, “Why are you here, Feng Xuanyang? And where is Blood shadow? Also, why aren’t you drinking?”

“Qinghan, with all these questions, which one should I answer?” Feng Xuanyang leaned closer, exhaling lightly near Long Qinghan’s ear, a scent of sandalwood mixed with the faint aroma of wine. Long Qinghan started to feel a bit tipsy.

“Feng Xuanyang, keep your distance. Why are you really here?” Long Qinghan pushed Feng Xuanyang away, rubbing his slightly dizzy head.

“Blood shadow has been sent back by me, while I stayed behind to protect you on your way back to the Tianjian Sect. Besides, you’re quite good-looking. If you were to be captured by thieves, what would I do?” Feng Xuanyang reached out to touch Long Qinghan’s chin playfully, a mischievous smile on his face.

Long Qinghan brushed his hand away, saying coldly, “I don’t need Sect Leader Feng’s concern for my safety. Furthermore, I have martial skills to protect myself from any hidden threats.”

“Tsk tsk, Qinghan, your experience in the martial world is lacking. Bright arrows are easy to dodge, but hidden ones are hard to guard against. For instance…” Feng Xuanyang smirked, raising his wine cup and twirling it in his hand. He raised an eyebrow and continued, “…adding a drug to the drink.”

“What are you talking about!” Long Qinghan was startled. He stood up and slammed the table, but as he did so, his head began to spin. He staggered a few steps and realized that his legs had turned weak. Shaking his head, he pointed at the person who was grinning provocatively, annoyed, “You…”

Before he could finish his sentence, his body lost strength. His legs buckled, and he started to fall forward. However, at that moment, a strong hand grabbed his waist, preventing him from falling.

“You scoundrel…” With no energy left to struggle, Long Qinghan could only curse through his breath.

Feng Xuanyang chuckled wickedly, gently pecked him, and then lifted him up. He carried Long Qinghan into a room in the wine shop and placed him gently on the bed.

“You scoundrel… damned… I’ll… get you…” At this point, Long Qinghan could only breathe heavily, cursing vehemently.

But Feng Xuanyang paid no attention to his curses. He pushed up Long Qinghan’s long hair and played with it between his fingers. Occasionally, he brushed the ends of the hair against Long Qinghan’s face, teasing him. “Qinghan, oh Qinghan, you’re so innocent. I can’t bear to devour you.”

“You scoundrel… If I drink the wine you give me again, I’ll… I’ll have the same surname as you… damn it…”

Feng Xuanyang’s smile grew deeper. He leaned down, bringing his lips close to Long Qinghan’s ear and lightly kissed it with his tongue. “Share a surname with me? Well, that’s interesting, Feng Qinghan, Feng Qinghan. Mm, not bad. I suppose you’re willing to accept me as your husband, aren’t you?” Gradually, his hand slid downwards, gently undoing Long Qinghan’s belt and resting it on his smooth chest, his fingers delicately caressing the sensitive areas.

Long Qinghan bit his lip, but his body’s response exceeded his expectations. Despite trying to hold back, he couldn’t help but let out a few soft moans, adding an array of different tones to the restrained sounds.

“Qinghan, in this treacherous world, one must not trust everyone, not even me,” Feng Xuanyang said as he removed Long Qinghan’s clothing, exposing his body. He began to tease the sensitive spots, his touch provoking tingling sensations. “You need to protect yourself well… Or perhaps…” Slowly, his hand ventured into Long Qinghan’s body, pressing and exploring various areas.

Then, his eyes surged with intensity, and with a forceful movement, he completely engulfed him.

“Ah…” The sensations from the intrusion sent tingles throughout Long Qinghan’s body. In an instant, his consciousness became hazy, unable to hear anything clearly. He could only vaguely sense Feng Xuanyang whispering something in his ear, something about “If one day I’m gone, what would you do…”

However, lost in the sensations, he remained unaware of whether those words held any truth.

After it was all over, Long Qinghan drifted into a deep sleep once again. Feng Xuanyang glanced at the red lotus mark reappearing on his left arm, gently caressing it. Then, he took out a pill from his clothes and fed it into Long Qinghan’s mouth using his mouth. Afterward, he held him close as they both drifted into slumber.

The next morning, Long Qinghan awoke to find Feng Xuanyang gone once more. He shook his groggy head, got up, and dressed himself. He called out to Long Mo a few times but received no response. He felt a sense of unease, yet he didn’t dwell on it.

As he stepped outside, he walked around the inn and noticed that it remained eerily quiet, devoid of any signs of life. So, he had a simple breakfast and then made his way to the stable. However, upon seeing the scene before him, he was suddenly struck dumbfounded.
