Married to the Male Lead’s Hidden Rich Brother

Chapter 34

Their life gradually settled into a calm routine. Every morning, Yan Wei would personally accompany Zhou Qiaoqiao to her company.

Then he would get off at the next stop, where Mao Liang would pick him up and take him back to the company in the business district.

In the evening, he would take the bus to Zhou Qiaoqiao’s bus stop and wait for her, then they would take the crowded bus home together.

Before going home, they would always stop by the supermarket to buy some things. Yan Wei would push the cart while Zhou Qiaoqiao carefully selected the vegetables to put in it. And she would talk non-stop while choosing, always having something to say.

Occasionally, Zhou Qiaoqiao would go out with Liang Jiamin. Yan Wei, who was left behind, would always wear a gloomy expression. Their days were plain yet happy, and soon the college entrance examination arrived, marking the start of summer vacation.

On the evening of July 3rd, after Yan Wei finished washing the dishes, he took out an ice cream popsicle from the fridge for Zhou Qiaoqiao.

Zhou Qiaoqiao no longer followed behind him or stood beside him to watch him wash the dishes. Yan Wei felt a bit lost in his heart, but he also knew that this meant they were getting closer.

Zhou Qiaoqiao was holding a pillow, watching a movie with tears in her eyes, and holding a damp tissue in her hand.

Yan Wei shook his head and said, “No, I didn’t. My family wasn’t poor when I was little. I usually had a private car for transportation.”

Zhou Qiaoqiao widened her eyes and looked at him, saying, “Ah! Well, that’s good.” Isn’t this what we agreed on, cherishing each other?

Yan Wei, seeing her expression, chuckled and tapped her head, saying, “Let me take you for a haircut tomorrow!”

Zhou Qiaoqiao’s eyes widened, and she looked at him in surprise, asking, “Where are you taking me? For a haircut?” Zhou Qiaoqiao tugged at her short hair and complained, “Look at how short my hair is!”

Yan Wei reassured her, “Although it’s only 3 or 4 centimeters, I won’t cut it too short. You should have a hairstyle, right? Should it just be like wild grass?”

Zhou Qiaoqiao fell silent, realizing that Yan Wei was more quick-witted than her. She couldn’t argue with him, but fortunately, he always stood on her side.

While they were talking, Yan Wei’s phone suddenly rang. Zhou Qiaoqiao remembered that Yan Wei had a phone, but he rarely used it, mostly for refreshing the news.

Yan Wei glanced at the incoming call and furrowed his brows before hanging up.

Zhou Qiaoqiao looked at him curiously, and after a moment, a text message came through as if the other person on the phone knew that Yan Wei wouldn’t answer. Zhou Qiaoqiao quickly saw that the message was from Yan Ye. She looked up at Yan Wei and asked, “Aren’t you going to reply to him?”

Yan Wei touched her head, feeling the slightly long hair, and looked up at the TV. He seemed to be watching it attentively and only spoke after a while, saying, “I don’t know what to say.”

Zhou Qiaoqiao blinked, and Yan Wei laughed, saying, “Don’t try to comfort me. I’m not sad, and I haven’t lost anything. Or maybe…” Yan Wei pondered for a moment, lowered his head, and concluded, “Maybe I’ve gained something.”

Zhou Qiaoqiao sighed and said, “Yan Wei, you’re speaking in such philosophical wisdom.”

Yan Wei raised an eyebrow, understanding from Zhou Qiaoqiao’s words that it probably wasn’t a compliment. He asked her, “What do you mean?”

Zhou Qiaoqiao sighed deeply and said, “I don’t understand!”

Yan Wei: “… “

Yan Wei remained silent for a moment, then he pounced on Zhou Qiaoqiao, pinning her down, and smilingly said, “Let me put it in simpler terms: I have you, and that’s enough.”

Zhou Qiaoqiao was already immune to his sweet words and even kissing her wouldn’t make her blush anymore. So after he said that, she simply held him tightly.

She held him tightly, with great force…

Why?

It was just their way of expressing affection towards each other. As Yan Wei felt the strength in her grip around his neck, he wondered, “Is this girl just bored?”

Then he buried himself in her neck, and Zhou Qiaoqiao immediately burst into laughter, exclaiming, “Yan Wei, it tickles!”

The next day, while they were on the bus heading to work, Yan Wei’s phone rang again. This time, he didn’t hang up but answered the call.

Zhou Qiaoqiao fell silent, listening as Yan Wei calmly listened to the person on the other end. After a while, Yan Wei said, “Happy birthday, Xiaoye. I won’t be able to attend this year’s birthday party.”

After speaking, he hung up the phone.

Xiaoye?

Zhou Qiaoqiao asked him, “Is it Yan Ye?”

Yan Wei frowned, also puzzled, and asked Zhou Qiaoqiao, “You seem to know him quite well?”

Zhou Qiaoqiao immediately pointed at her own head in anger and said, “Of course I know him well. He once hit me with a flowerpot.”

Yan Wei fell silent for a moment and could only apologize on behalf of his younger brother, saying, “I’m sorry, I hit him last time.”

“…,” Zhou Qiaoqiao was speechless. She wasn’t the one who wanted him to be taught a lesson. Though speechless, Zhou Qiaoqiao couldn’t help but ask curiously, “Is it your brother’s birthday?”

Yan Wei nodded.

Zhou Qiaoqiao leaned closer to him and whispered, “Did he invite you?”

Yan Wei nodded again.

Zhou Qiaoqiao wanted to say something more, but the car had already arrived at the station. Zhou Qiaoqiao could only look back at him pitifully, reluctant to leave, and said, “I still have something to say…”

“Go to work first!”

Dejectedly, Zhou Qiaoqiao had to walk away. Did Yan Ye and Shan Lingtong get together? Did he choose Shang Qiwen? Does he want to be with Shang Qiwen? She didn’t want to become Shang Qiwen’s sister-in-law. Originally, after Liu Yun took over her body, she had snatched Yan Ye from Shan Lingtong mercilessly.

Under such circumstances, it could still be said that Zhou Qiaoqiao could rely on her abilities. But Liu Yun, because Shang Qiwen had the natural advantage of the white moonlight1 Bai Yuegang – first love, showed no mercy in dealing with her. This made Zhou Qiaoqiao a little scared. She felt that her abilities were no match for Shang Qiwen, and Shang Qiwen’s first target was her body. So Zhou Qiaoqiao was worried that Shang Qiwen would harm her.

It’s scary to think about it!!!

As soon as Zhou Qiaoqiao finished work, she ran outside. As expected, Yan Wei was waiting at the bus stop. When he saw Zhou Qiaoqiao running over, a familiar smile appeared on his face.

“Yan Wei, Yan Wei.”

Seeing her rushing over, Yan Wei reached out to support her and said, “Don’t rush, take it easy.”

“I’ve been thinking all day, wouldn’t it be bad if we don’t go to his brother’s birthday?” Zhou Qiaoqiao asked him.

Yan Wei rubbed her fuzzy head and said, “It’s fine if we don’t go.” He squinted slightly and said, “I’ve said before that I can protect you, and that won’t change.”

Zhou Qiaoqiao praised him with starry eyes, “Yan Wei, you’re amazing!”

Yan Wei sighed and pulled her onto the car, asking her, “Is there something you want to ask?” Why is she praising me like this?

Zhou Qiaoqiao whispered to him, “Did your younger brother get a new girlfriend?”

Yan Wei raised an eyebrow and meaningfully asked her in return, “Whether he did or didn’t, why do you care?”

Zhou Qiaoqiao pursed her lips and looked in another direction, guiltily saying, “Because I’m his sister-in-law.”

Yan Wei chuckled softly, using one hand to hold onto the handle and the other to wrap around her waist. Then he whispered in her ear, “But first, you have to be my wife!”

Zhou Qiaoqiao turned to look at him, with a distance of less than 1cm between them, the atmosphere was ambiguous.

However, Zhou Qiaoqiao’s company was close to home, and before they could say another word, the bus had already arrived at the entrance of the supermarket across the residential area.

Yan Wei followed Zhou Qiaoqiao off the bus, watching her get off the bus and happily walk towards the supermarket.

Yan Wei sighed in the end, called her, “Qiaoqiao, do you want to go?”

Zhou Qiaoqiao hesitated for a moment in place, then turned to look at him, tilted her head and smiled, “No!”

“Let’s go then!” Yan Wei stepped forward and pulled her, saying, “If you want to go, I’ll take you.”

Zhou Qiaoqiao frowned. Actually, she just wanted to go and see how things have developed. She wanted to be mentally prepared, even though she might never have any relationship with Liu Yun again. But it’s always

good to be prepared, just in case. So, whether to go or not is not an absolute answer.

If…

“If you don’t want to go, then don’t.” Zhou Qiaoqiao said.

Yes, why would they have any relationship anymore? Now it’s her and Yan Wei living their lives together, and Liu Yun only wants to live her life with Yan Ye, they are unrelated to each other.

“It’s okay.” Yan Wei stepped forward and pulled her, leading her back to the bus stop. He smiled and said, “We won’t go in, but I’ll take you to have a look.”

He could tell that Zhou Qiaoqiao wanted to see the place where he lived.

Finally, Zhou Qiaoqiao didn’t refuse and got on the bus with him…

On July 4th, it was the birthday of Yan Ye, the president of Yuyao Entertainment. In the era dominated by Yan Wei, Yan Ye was just a green leaf under the flowers, a weed under the tree. Not only was he a supporting role, but he was also easily overlooked.

Especially with Yan Wei’s extraordinary business acumen, he had elevated the family business to a higher level, or should we say, several levels higher.

This made his status and position more valued, not to mention the natural aura of a king that he possessed, which inadvertently overshadowed Yan Ye.

However, even with Yan Wei’s accomplishments, he was still expelled from the shareholders’ meeting like a lost dog. Not to mention, in the following days, Yan Ye finally led Yuyao to shine, and at that time, no one cared about who built the ladder to success for Yu Yao, which allowed them to easily reach the peak.

Yan Ye had finally grown and gained popularity. His birthday celebration was like a social event, regardless of whether it was his actual birthday.

Zhou Qiaoqiao got off the car, they had already taken a taxi from the bus, and the villa was halfway up the mountain. In Yan Wei’s words, it was quiet at night, with fresh air in the morning, and very suitable for… sleeping.

Taxis were also rarely seen here, as everyone had their own cars. The journey of Yan Wei and Zhou Qiaoqiao in the car attracted more attention than when Yan Wei drove his Maybach himself.

After all, with such a grand event, among numerous luxury cars, there was a bright yellow taxi.

Sansukini: Aiyah! Why not just say that the company provided you a car. So you know, the Yan parents are so biased, you’d think that Yan Wei is adopted, but he’s 100% their son. They basically kicked him out because he’s sick even after all that he did for the company.

It’s kind of sad that they are actually in the same boat despite their different family status. Qiaoqiao’s family dislikes her for her bad luck, while YW’s family dislikes him for being sick despite what he has done for their family business. Poor them. I hope they will be in much much much better circumstances than their families.
