I Eat My Own Jealousy chapter 30

Chapter 30

Two days later, it was Sunday, and the night before, Jian Ning had informed Butler Abel that he had something to attend to and asked him to send someone to pick up Tuan Tuan in the morning.

After sending Tuan Tuan off, Jian Ning received a message from Owen, saying that he had already arrived at the college gate.

Jian Ning informed Terry, then headed out.

Tuan Tuan shook his wet head and “gulp” spit out a mouthful of water.

Before Butler Abel could respond, Zong Ye had already spoken from upstairs, “What happened to him?”

“…It seems like the young master choked on some water,” Butler Abel replied as he dried Tuan Tuan off.

Zong Ye said, “Go and fetch Dr. Wilson.”

Butler Abel was about to leave when Zong Ye suddenly called out, “Wait, forget it, there’s no need to trouble Dr. Wilson to come over. I’ll take Tuan Tuan there myself.”

After saying that, he went back to his room to change clothes, then carried Tuan Tuan and got into the hover car before driving off.

Butler Abel watched in bewilderment as the hovercar flew away. Whenever someone in their family fell ill, they always had Dr. Wilson make a house call. Why did the young master suddenly become so considerate of Dr. Wilson today?

Dr. Wilson had a high-end clinic in the Eastern District. When Zong Ye brought Tuan Tuan there, Dr. Wilson was in the middle of treating a wealthy lady. Zong Ye and Tuan Tuan sat in the waiting room for a while before Dr. Wilson finally came over.

“Why did the Marshal come to my clinic?” Dr. Wilson was quite surprised. Normally, when treating illnesses, he would go to the villa; Zong Ye never came to his clinic.

Tuan Tuan lay on Zong Ye’s lap, and Zong Ye’s slender fingers gently stroked Tuan Tuan’s fluffy fur as he said, “Tuan Tuan swallowed some pool water, please check on him.”

Dr. Wilson picked Tuan Tuan up from Zong Ye’s lap and carefully examined him, “It seems like there’s nothing wrong, but just to be cautious, I’ll run some tests with the medical equipment.”

“No need, he has S-level mental power, a little water won’t harm him,” Zong Ye reached out and took Tuan Tuan back from Dr. Wilson’s hands. “I’m leaving.”

With that, he left with Tuan Tuan.

Dr. Wilson was somewhat puzzled. If he knew nothing was wrong, why bother coming to his clinic? It seemed like an unnecessary extra step.

As they left the clinic, Zong Ye turned to Tuan Tuan in the passenger seat, “Since we’re out, do you want to go for a stroll?”

Tuan Tuan yawned and stretched on the seat, looking quite sleepy. He didn’t want to go out; he wanted to go home and sleep.

“Oh, you want to go out, huh? Alright, I’ll follow your lead,” Zong Ye said and activated the hovercar, heading towards the Eastern District.

The Botanical Expo for the day was in the Eastern District. Zong Ye parked the car at the entrance and frowned, “Why did I end up here?”

He thought about leaving but then glanced at Tuan Tuan and asked, “Do you want to see Daddy?”

Tuan Tuan curled up and scratched his ear with his small paw, annoyed by the disturbance. He just wanted to sleep; don’t bother him.

“Want to see…alright, I’ll follow your lead,” Zong Ye reluctantly agreed.

They waited at the entrance for a while until the morning expo concluded, and people started coming out. Zong Ye spotted Jian Ning and Owen.

The two of them approached a hover car, and Owen said something to Jian Ning. Jian Ning smiled and got into his car, heading off.

Zong Ye didn’t notice, but his expression had turned somewhat sour. He lowered his head and asked Tuan Tuan, “Daddy’s gone. Should we catch up?”

Tuan Tuan sat up, turned his round body in a different direction, and faced away from Zong Ye, then let out an annoyed huff. He was tired of Zong Ye talking and disturbing his sleep.

“Catch up…as you wish,” Zong Ye muttered and chased after the hover car that was quickly disappearing.

After flying for about fifteen minutes, they stopped in front of a restaurant. Zong Ye sat inside the hover car and saw Jian Ning and Owen enter the restaurant, taking seats by the window. They ordered their food, chatted, and the atmosphere seemed very harmonious. During the meal, it looked like Jian Ning got some food on his face, and Owen reached over to wipe it off. Jian Ning didn’t get angry; instead, he smiled at Owen.

Zong Ye’s expression had turned completely dark, and the air pressure inside the hover car suddenly dropped, making it feel even heavier than the gloomy weather outside. Tuan Tuan jolted awake, turned his small body to look at Zong Ye, wondering why this big white wolf seemed angry. Wow, he had the nerve to be upset when he hadn’t gotten mad at Zong Ye for disturbing his sleep.

Owen probably went to the restroom and left his seat. Zong Ye, without expression, withdrew his gaze and lowered his wrist to check for Jian Ning’s contact number on his communicator. He dialed it.

“What is it?” Jian Ning hesitated for a moment before answering the call, his tone somewhat unhappy.

Zong Ye clenched his lips and said briefly, “Tuan Tuan swallowed some pool water. Come and see.”

“How serious is it? How is he right now?” Jian Ning sat up straight, his voice becoming anxious.

Zong Ye didn’t answer, he just said, “We’re right outside the restaurant. You can come out and see for yourself.”

With that, he disconnected the call.

Jian Ning turned to look outside through the glass and immediately spotted Zong Ye’s car.

Owen hadn’t returned yet, and Jian Ning was worried about Tuan Tuan. Unable to wait any longer, he got up from his seat and headed out of the restaurant.

At the hover car, he opened the door and saw Tuan Tuan in the passenger seat. He was about to bend down to pick him up, but Zong Ye beat him to it.

“Get in,” Zong Ye said.

Jian Ning didn’t question it and sat in the passenger seat, closing the car door before receiving Tuan Tuan from Zong Ye. Tuan Tuan extended his tongue to lick his chin and tried to climb onto his shoulder with his short legs.

Seeing Tuan Tuan’s energetic demeanor, Jian Ning breathed a sigh of relief and asked, “As long as he’s fine. How did you know I was here?”

He looked at Zong Ye in confusion.

Zong Ye didn’t respond, he just turned his stern profile away and started the hovercar.

“What are you doing? I haven’t told Owen yet,” seeing the hover car start without his consent, Jian Ning protested.

Ignoring his protests, Zong Ye increased the hovercar’s speed to the maximum allowed and headed back to the villa.

Being taken away without his consent infuriated Jian Ning. As soon as they arrived at the villa and got out of the hovercar, he didn’t say a word and just tried to leave, carrying Tuan Tuan with him.

Zong Ye blocked his way, grabbing his wrist tightly and pulling him upstairs.

Butler Abel looked utterly bewildered. Wasn’t his young master taking the young master to Dr. Wilson’s clinic? Why did he bring Jian Ning back?

Zong Ye handed Tuan Tuan in Jian Ning’s arms to Butler Abel and then dragged Jian Ning upstairs.

Inside the study, Zong Ye finally let go of Jian Ning’s hand. He had gripped it so tightly that Jian Ning’s wrist had turned red.

“What are you doing?” Jian Ning rubbed his wrist, which was throbbing with pain, and asked in anger. He wanted to ask if Zong Ye was crazy, but looking at Zong Ye’s expressionless face, even darker than the gloomy sky outside, he didn’t dare to.

“Perhaps I should be asking you what you’re doing. Using my money to go on a date with another man,” Zong Ye said coldly.

Jian Ning couldn’t believe it. “We’re not together anymore, and it’s none of your business who I date. You’ve already given me that money; do you want it back?”

Zong Ye had no intention of taking the money back, but judging from Jian Ning’s reaction, he thought this condition might work, so he continued, “If you cooperate, I won’t take the money back.”

Jian Ning’s eyes welled up with tears. It had been him who had left suddenly, him who didn’t want to be involved with Zong Ye anymore. So what gave Zong Ye the right to interfere in his affairs and demand his obedience?

“Take it back if you want, I don’t want your money,” Jian Ning’s voice quivered, and he turned to open the study door, rushing downstairs.

Did he just…cry? Zong Ye was stunned, and his cold expression faltered for a moment. He hadn’t intended to make him cry.

The Butler Abel, still holding Tuan Tuan, waited in the living room, occasionally glancing upstairs. He was worried about what Zong Ye had done to Jian Ning, which was why he had brought Jian Ning back.

As they arrived back at the villa, Jian Ning didn’t say a word. He just tried to leave, carrying Tuan Tuan with him.

Zong Ye’s villa was quite a distance from the road where cars could be parked, and Jian Ning regretted his impulsive decision to leave without grabbing an umbrella. Now he had to bear the rain, and there was no one to pity him.

However, going back was not an option. He wiped the raindrops off his face and walked briskly. A flying vehicle approached from behind and gently landed next to him.

Thinking it was Butler Abel catching up to him, Jian Ning didn’t look back and quickened his pace.

The person behind him was faster, a tall woman who held up a rain shield to block the rain. She stopped in front of Jian Ning and said, “Her Majesty requests your presence.”

After saying that, she attached a small round device to Jian Ning’s shoulder, and a rain shield appeared, instantly deflecting the raindrops away.

Jian Ning recognized the woman as Tina, the chief officer of Zong Ye’s affairs. Tina finished her instructions and walked towards the flying vehicle. Jian Ning hesitated for a moment, then followed her.

The flying vehicle slowly ascended, and a nearby hover car came to a stop. Butler Abel saw the symbol on the flying vehicle and breathed a sigh of relief. He instructed the driver, “Let’s go back.”

Inside the flying vehicle, Zong Yue had someone bring Jian Ning clean clothes and gave him a blanket to wrap around himself. She also offered Jian Ning a hot tea. After that, she dismissed the people around them and gently asked, “What happened? Can you tell me?”

Jian Ning took a sip of the hot tea, looked at Zong Yue’s caring and concerned eyes, and sniffled before recounting the events.

Zong Yue sighed after hearing the story. “Butler Abel asked me to talk to you about this earlier, but I’ve been busy with royal matters lately and haven’t had the time.”

“That matter should have been disclosed to you earlier, but it’s of great importance. Once it’s revealed, the Zong family’s status could be in jeopardy, so we had to be cautious and keep it hidden from you,” Zong Yue explained. “However, it’s necessary to tell you now. The Zong Ye you just saw is not the same one you met on Blue Star. Zong Ye has a dual personality.”

Jian Ning was stunned.

Zong Yue continued, “Over half a year ago, Zong Ye was attacked by his political enemies and ended up on Blue Star. His primary personality was mentally injured and dormant, while his secondary personality took over his body and lived with you. Later, our people found him, and his primary personality’s mental state improved. His main personality regained control of his body, and we returned to Emperor Star. His primary personality and secondary personality are aware of each other’s existence but do not share each other’s memories. Therefore, when you came to Emperor Star, Zong Ye did not recognize you.”

Jian Ning listened in disbelief. He had never imagined there were two Zong Yes. That explained the occasional strange behaviors of Zong Ye. He recalled a particular night and asked, “All the times I’ve seen him on Emperor Star were his primary personality? But there was one night…”

Zong Yue didn’t wait for him to finish. He nodded, “I heard from Butler Abel. Zong Ye went to see you secretly one night. That was his secondary personality.”

Zong Yue continued to explain, “In fact, we were quite surprised too. Zong Ye’s secondary personality used to emerge infrequently. As you can tell, Zong Yue’s primary personality is rational and emotionally distant, lacking in understanding of feelings but possessing stronger psychic abilities. Therefore, most of the time, his primary personality dominated. However, everything changed with your arrival. Whenever Zong Yue sees your face, the secondary personality wants to come out, and the primary personality can’t suppress it. Even the secondary personality sneaks out at night when the primary personality is asleep to see you.”

Zong Yue paused briefly and continued, “You have a significant impact on him. Not only on the secondary personality but also on the primary one. I’ve never seen Zong Yue like this before. On the surface, he claims to have no connection with you, but in reality, he doesn’t want you to interact with other men.”

Jian Ning pursed his lips, clutching the blanket tightly around him, feeling a mix of emotions.

Zong Yue added, “Dr. Wilson is Zong Yue’s primary physician, and he believes that you can cure Zong Yue.”

“Me?” Jian Ning widened his eyes. “But I’m not a doctor. How could I cure him?”

“You have an influence on him, and that alone proves your ability to heal him,” Zong Yue smiled gently at him. “Actually, when Zong Yue was a child, he didn’t have this condition.”

Jian Ning looked puzzled. “Then… how did he become like this?”

Zong Yue’s eyes showed a trace of pain as she said, “Something happened, something very painful for Zong Ye.”

Jian Ning wanted to hear more, but Zong Yue abruptly stopped and closed her eyes. He said, “Having too strong psychic abilities is not necessarily a good thing. Anyway, Jian Ning, whether it’s the current Zong Yue or the one you met on Blue Star, they are not the real Zong Yue. Are you willing to let them merge?”

“Are you willing to let them merge?” Jian Ning didn’t know how to answer that question. After all, he had always liked Zong Yue from Blue Star. The Zong Yue on Emperor Star, while not disliked, was different.

Back at the dormitory, Jian Ning’s fever and runny nose began to worsen in the afternoon, despite receiving an injection from Terry. Wrapped in blankets, he was feeling miserable.

The sky had already darkened, and the scene of Jian Ning being brought to tears continued to flash in Zong Yue’s mind, making him restless throughout the afternoon. Even though he had heard from Butler Abel that Jian Ning had been sent back to the academy, his unease didn’t diminish.

Looking at the darkening sky outside the window, Zong Yue took a small golden device from the drawer of his desk. He pressed a specific spot between his thumb and forefinger, causing a golden ball to light up with a lively chime. Wings sprouted from the ball, and it flew into the air, emitting a cheerful voice, “Master, what can I do for you?”

This device was a Class S mech called Fei Yu, equipped with artificial intelligence. Activating it required special methods. Initially, the secondary personality left it with Jian Ning, likely not anticipating the primary personality’s awakening so soon. It was inadvertently activated by Tuan tuan when he was trying to figure it out, and only the winged flight function was activated.

“Go to Saint’s Academy, find Jian Ning, and see what he’s up to,” Zong Yue instructed, “Do it quietly, without letting him or anyone else notice.”

Fei Yu was an S Class mech with artificial intelligence. It had stored memories of the days it spent with Tuan Tuan, and despite only activating the flying function around Jian Ning, it recognized him easily.

With a cheerful tone, Fei Yu responded, “I got it. I’ll go now.”

Before leaving, it flew towards Zong Yue, flapping its wings in a lively manner, and said, “I know what to do.”

Then, it disappeared into the night.

Zong Yue had been waiting in his study for what seemed like an eternity. After about twenty minutes, Fei Yu returned, landing in front of him. The small golden sphere emitted a playful chime and projected an image in front of Zong Yue.

The image showed Jian Ning wrapped in blankets, lying in bed. He looked quite miserable, constantly reaching for tissues to wipe his runny nose.

The image had no sound, but it was evident that Jian Ning wanted a glass of water. He attempted to shout for his roommates, but no one seemed to answer. As he tried to get out of bed, probably to fetch water himself, he almost stumbled but was thankfully caught by one of his roommates.

“Jian Ning is sick; he’s so pitiful. It would be great if there were someone to take care of him,” Fei Yu whispered to Zong Yue, fluttering around him.

Zong Yue stared at the image, his fingers clenched tightly on the desk. He knew that Jian Ning had fallen ill because of him.

“Hide it,” Zong Yue finally ordered, and Fei Yu complied, retracting the image. Then, Zong Yue extended his palm towards Fei Yu and said, “Come here.”

Fei Yu, a bit reluctant, flew into Zong Yue’s hand. Its wings rubbed affectionately against his fingers, and it replied, “Master, please don’t put me away. I haven’t been out for a long time.”

Zong Yue looked at it and said, “Tuan Tuan seems to like you a lot.”

Fei Yu flapped its wings energetically, “Yes, yes, yes! I like my little master a lot too! He’s the cutest in the world!”

Zong Yue nodded, “If you stay with him and keep him company, it might help.”

“Master, you can trust me,” Fei Yu happily danced around Zong Yue. “I’ll do my best to comfort the little master.”

Zong Yue instructed, “But find a place to stay on your own.”

“Mr. Butler, what about the little house you made for me…” Fei Yu flew away happily, heading downstairs to find Butler Abel.

With Fei Yu looking after Jian Ning, Zong Yue returned to his room, lay down on the bed, and closed his eyes. For the first time, he willingly relinquished control of his body.
