Di Mian was really selfless in the OG version. He loved both Chu Huang & their daughter dearly that he gave them his final gifts before he died to protect them & express his love for them during the war. Unfortunately, BingChang the selfish twit kept them for herself so his wife never knew his last moment.
Tantai Jin somewhat change after joining the Xiaoyao sect. He managed to fight the temptation of the crossbow and called it back into his body which impress Chongyu. Loli Susu was so adorable with her promise to him
TTJ is so precious sometimes T_T
I really like how the author makes them both so lovable despite all their stunts (well, mainly TTJ stunts, but whatever, ahaha). Their behavior is natural and logical. I mean I’ve read negative reviews but I have a STRONG feeling that those who wrote them haven’t read the novel thoroughly but just skipped it lightheartedly.
Cause if you just skim over text, not reading into carefully written emotions and just read something in the very beginning, it may seem like “illogical pair of an abuser and idiot” with dog blood plot, while actually it is nothing of the sort. Does it have a lot of glass, Susu constantly escaping from TTJ and does TTJ behave like the baddest scum sometimes? Yup. But are the characters believable and the story – comprehensive and wholesome? Also yup. It’s not a contradiction, it’s just a rare talent to combine those two.
And sometimes I wish this novel had a higher rating – I mean some gruesome or just spicy scenes could make it even better. Like, we have detailed description of TTJ birth with intestines in his hand but can’t have a good depiction of kiss with Susu? Like, eh???
I soooooo agree! I feel this novel and it’s writing are quite superior and many ways. Both TTJ’s and LSS’s character developments are complex and Interesting. I like that the author doesn’t always give us what we want in the moment but makes the characters do the work. The prose is often beautiful. I read a tremendous amount and I read across genres and this particular novel has enraptured me. The pacing is also good, with a nice mix of internal and external conflict/action. The only thing that could make it better, and I’m so with you on this one, is a tad more “intimacy.” I still give it top marks tho.
I agree. This book deserve higher rating. This book elaborate its own story with much more depth and reasons. Uniquely so amongst books with the same genres.
TTJ and LSS ‘s relationship wasn’t the healthiest relationship. TTJ was pure evil and LSS was a heartless immortal cultivator. TTJ has negative EQ overall while LSS has low EQ in romance. Add the fact that it’s a slow burn romance. So, ofc there would be cruelty and animosity between them before it slowly transform. The period they’re on opposing sides and the transformation would take bigger portion of the whole story. So far, the author has written this story very well.
I really don’t know what’s going on with those low rating and bad reviews in NU. Like, did they read this book properly? Did they read a different book? Did they read it while or after reading other books which affected their comprehending? Or, does they simply not like it because it potentially teach people bad way on chosing partner/lover? I mean, well, yeah. Irl, you shouldn’t choose people like TTJ and LSS as love interest, unless they have changed for the better.
I finally caught up! Such a wonderful transition from the bloodthirsty and power hungry TTJ to the meow meow TTJ. I can’t wait for them to finally fall in love omg!!!
