Married to the Male Lead’s Hidden Rich Brother

Chapter 26

Zhou Qiaoqiao shook her head and said, “No, Jiamin always took me to eat before.”

Yan Wei nodded and said, “Then let me arrange everything for today!”

Zhou Qiaoqiao made a sound of agreement and didn’t speak further.

After a while, Liang Jiamin sent her a message with a sunny photo. In the photo, a man wearing a black T-shirt leaned against a pillar in the square, holding a cigarette in his mouth, with sharp eyes gazing into the distance.

Even from just a photo, one could see the emotions poured into it by the photographer. It was full of love, with only that man as the focal point, radiating sunshine.

“Mao Liang looks so handsome!” Zhou Qiaoqiao exclaimed sincerely.

Yan Wei glanced at it and thought to himself: …I should have known better than to give him a day off.

Zhen Guoan had also given Yan Wei quite a few suggestions. Based on information from various sources, it was best to focus on conversation during the first date. Any physical contact was a pass. Of course, he and Zhou Qiaoqiao were already engaged, so their relationship was different. They would have a closer connection than normal friends in a romantic relationship, but it must be said that they hadn’t known each other for long.

Although Yuyao Entertainment eventually reached the pinnacle of being a first-class film and television company under Yan Ye’s leadership, every shareholder had to admit one fact: Yan Wei played a crucial role in Yuyao Entertainment’s current position.

Therefore, when Yuyao Entertainment was on the rise, and at its peak, expelling him from the board of directors made others not only feel guilty but also convinced that Yan Wei would never agree.

However, to everyone’s surprise, Yan Wei merely smiled and left.

Yes, he just left like that.

When a person can’t eat well or sleep well, why would they care about trivial matters like money? Sorry, being able to have a good meal and a good night’s sleep is far more important than those shares.

The company was just a toy to him, but Zhou Qiaoqiao was different.

She could stimulate his appetite and drowsiness. Therefore, during the days when Yan Wei was away from Zhou Qiaoqiao, he stayed up late, relied on sleeping pills, and went hungry.

However, even so, he never considered disregarding Zhou Qiaoqiao’s wishes and directly organizing a wedding to tie her to him.

Since she was such an important person, he naturally wanted to have a better relationship with her, taking it step by step. The good days were still ahead!

Therefore, treating Zhou Qiaoqiao was much more important to him than dealing with business matters. Even choosing this milk tea shop took Yan Wei three hours of research last night before finally settling on it.

Standing at the entrance of the shop, looking at the sign that read “Gong Cha” with such a bold and powerful presence, Yan Wei smirked. This place had a 98% positive rating and over 80% returning customers. Their pearls were handmade, making the milk tea creamier, with a moderate sweetness and a refreshing taste. It had a recommended rating of four stars.

It was the most expensive milk tea shop in Yiwu City, without a doubt.

“Wow, this place is so expensive!” Zhou Qiaoqiao exclaimed with starry eyes.

Yan Wei nodded, feeling delighted that Zhou Qiaoqiao was satisfied with this shop. Then he heard Zhou Qiaoqiao continue, “I heard a cup of milk tea here costs around 25. It’s a robbery. Oh, by the way, where are we going?”

Yan Wei pointed to the serious-looking café across the street and asked her, “Did you see that café, Coffee Starcloud?”

Zhou Qiaoqiao nodded, and Yan Wei said, “I’m treating you to coffee.”

Zhou Qiaoqiao suddenly realized and praised, “You drove me here for an hour and a half just for this Coffee Starcloud? Oh my, it must be really delicious!”

Yan Wei looked serious and said, “Yes, I checked, and it’s really good.”

So, Zhou Qiaoqiao followed Yan Wei across the road and went into the café to order two cups of coffee.

“Is it tasty?” Zhou Qiaoqiao asked Yan Wei.

Yan Wei took a sip and thought to himself, How should I put this? Although I have an aversion to food, I can still taste that this is instant coffee. But whether it’s handmade or instant, it’s all the same to me.

“What do you think?” Yan Wei asked her.

Zhou Qiaoqiao didn’t want to make him sad, especially since Yan Wei had put in a lot of effort to find this shop. So, she praised, “I think it tastes really good!”

“But you haven’t tried it…” Yan Wei said, looking at the coffee cup in her hand.

Zhou Qiaoqiao looked down at the coffee in front of her and said, “I find it a bit bitter!”

Yan Wei looked at her dejected expression, suddenly chuckled, and sighed, “Let me take you for some milk tea! Do you like milk tea?”

Zhou Qiaoqiao nodded and said, “Life is meaningless without milk tea.”

Yan Wei smiled and said, “As long as you like it.” Yes! If she didn’t like it, what would be the point of bringing her here?

So, the two of them went to the cashier to settle the bill, and then Yan Wei took her back to the milk tea shop across the street.

Zhou Qiaoqiao crossed the road twice, looking at the sports car parked in front of “Gong Cha,” and suddenly she understood. She smiled and asked Yan Wei, “You originally wanted to take me for milk tea, didn’t you?”

Yan Wei reached out and held her hand as they walked into the shop together. He softly replied, “Yes.”

The atmosphere inside the shop was no worse than the café across the street. Of course, Yan Wei felt that “Gong Cha” was even more upscale than “Coffee Starcloud.”

Milk tea shops emphasized youthfulness and beauty, so they didn’t prefer using dark tones like coffee shops.

The walls around were painted in bright colors, and a few plastic plants climbed up the walls, adding a touch of green to the vibrant space. Several shelves of different heights were mounted on the windowless walls, adorned with a few books.

“Welcome!” the staff inside the shop shouted cheerfully as the two entered, their faces beaming with smiles.

“Are you dining in or taking away?” a girl with a ponytail and wearing an orange uniform approached and asked.

“Inside the shop,” Yan Wei said as he pulled out a chair for Zhou Qiaoqiao.

This time, Zhou Qiaoqiao placed her order quickly, clearly more familiar with milk tea, an easy-to-gain-weight beverage, than with coffee.

The shop was playing news from the entertainment industry. Yan Wei had simple requirements for food, just as long as it was suitable for Zhou Qiaoqiao. Zhou Qiaoqiao ordered two cups of Bubble Milk Tea, and Yan Wei was unsure if he could handle it himself.

Later, he watched Zhou Qiaoqiao enjoy the sweet and fragrant drink, so he decided to give it a try…

Yan Wei: “…” Zhou Qiaoqiao is truly an appetizing presence.

“Yan Wei,” Zhou Qiaoqiao suddenly called his name while looking at the TV.

Yan Wei was absorbed in sucking on the handmade boba pearls, which were fruity and had a soft and chewy texture.

He absentmindedly responded to her, but in his mind, he was thinking that the milk tea was actually quite good.

“Who is that person?” Zhou Qiaoqiao pointed at a woman’s photo on the TV and asked him.

Yan Wei turned to look and saw the woman’s delicate face and a slight smile on her lips. Her appearance was no less attractive than that of a popular celebrity.

“Shang Qiwen,” Yan Wei frowned.

“What does this news mean?” Zhou Qiaoqiao didn’t quite understand.

Yan Wei looked at her unexpectedly. Zhou Qiaoqiao rarely showed interest in the entertainment industry. And of course, Shang Qiwen’s matter didn’t really belong to the entertainment industry; it should be considered more of a business circle affair. However, Zhou Qiaoqiao, who usually didn’t care about business matters, now asked about Shang Qiwen. That was indeed strange.

He thought about it, but Yan Wei still answered her, “They say she got divorced.”

“Divorced?” Zhou Qiaoqiao seemed somewhat skeptical but uncertain about the news in front of her.

“What’s wrong? Is it strange for someone to get divorced?” Yan Wei furrowed his brow as he looked at Zhou Qiaoqiao, who seemed a bit off.

Zhou Qiaoqiao shook her head and took a sip of her milk tea.

“She got divorced~!” Zhou Qiaoqiao sighed and lamented.

She got divorced!

But the book didn’t write it like that. At least before Xiang Li revealed the financial issue, she didn’t have any thoughts of getting a divorce.

As a key supporting character in the book, what impact would an early divorce have?

Or rather, why did she choose to divorce early?

If…

Zhou Qiaoqiao lowered her gaze and wondered: If she were Liu Yun, would it make sense? Liu Yun didn’t disappear; she just appeared in a different way?

“It’s just a divorce,” Yan Wei reassured her. “Just a divorce.”

Zhou Qiaoqiao was taken aback. Yes, it was just a divorce. Perhaps she suddenly wanted to divorce early?

So Zhou Qiaoqiao became happy again.

Yan Wei: “…” Although he didn’t know what made her upset, is she a little too easily comforted?

Zhou Qiaoqiao was probably the type of person who was naturally open-minded!

Liu Yun was the shadow in her life. She experienced how others used her body to reach the pinnacle of their lives. Such an experience was not pleasant!

If she wanted to die, she would die thoroughly. If she wanted to live, she would live for herself. Although her life had many hardships, she didn’t have the desire for someone else to pay with their life.

Naturally, she didn’t have any intention of asking someone else to live a good life on her behalf.

Not to mention, her death was because of Yan Ye’s accident. And Liu Yun used her body to live a happy life with Yan Ye. Did her death serve as a path for Liu Yun?

If it was because she had some unfulfilled desires, it would be one thing! But she didn’t have any thoughts like that. She simply wanted Zhou Xiongxiong to face the consequences of his own actions, and she didn’t even wish for Zhou Xiongxiong to die.

Why should she give her body for someone else’s benefit?

Transmigration in a sense is possessing someone else’s body that’s why in transmigration, they always justify this by saying that the original body died and so, they replaced that person. But QQ didn’t die here, she survived and the possession failed. I think she has valid reasons why she doesn’t like Liu Yun the transmigrator.

    2. Spinthepickle

I think it’s the reason why the majority of time the original body dies from suicide. They didn’t want the life, so it’s OK that someone else takes it over. Most transmigrators have died due to an accident. So it feels fair and even. Other times it’s an arrangement that the transmigrator will fulfill the final wishes of the host body after they died in an accident. Still feels fair. Or the system is selecting a recently deceased body that then surprises everyone by ‘coming back to life’. The transmigrator has a specific mission and needs a body, so an empty one is OK to use. That’s OK too.

This is the first case where I’ve seen the transmigrator coming into the body BEFORE the person left the body. That makes transmigration in this case seem pretty shady; certainly traumatizing at the very least.

Plenty of stories out there where the transmigrator IS the bad guy or one is the hero and one the villian. I think it’s part of why I enjoy the genre, because there’s so much variety and potential.

Nice input. There are also some novels where the original soul did not leave the body the body but just stayed dormant. I actually read one transmigration story where it becomes like a double personality because the og soul is still inside and is sometimes awake. The og was a horrible person, and when the ML found that the og was trying to snatch her body back, the ML exorcised her out of the body. I was really speechless, I didn’t know what to think. It seemed so bonkers to me.

        1. Spinthepickle

That sounds really interesting! Do you recall the title?

I read a quick transmigration novel where the OG soul would be stick around dormant while the transmigrator completed their wish, but the transmigrator would leave when his task was over, so the soul needed to know what was happening as their life got ‘fixed’ for them. Eventually he learned how to let the OG soul surface to handle certain tasks so that they could grow into the person they wanted to be and really be prepared to take their life back when the time came. I thought that was a really nice premise. Was that Don’t Pick Up Boyfriends from the Trash?

I’m really enjoying THIS novel. It’s just what I need right now. Thank you.

I don’t remember the title. But I won’t recommend it because it’s not a good novel. You’re right, they stay until their life got fixed, that’s what usually happens. But that novel, when the og soul found that life is getting better and the ML is in love with the body and she also loved the ml before, so she tried to get back. She succeeded and pretended to be the FL lead but the ml discovered it. He actually tied her to the bed exorcist style and got a gypsy witch to remove her soul and bring back the fl. I’ve mtl so many novels that I don’t remember all the trash titles.

I love “Don’t Pick Up Boyfriends from the Trash Can”! It is such a great novel! There’s a lot of development and interesting reveals in this novel, and I love that the MC from the beginning decided to treat his transmigration as a guest entering the body of someone else and chose to carefully fulfil the wishes he thought they might have and make their lives better because he didn’t know if the original was still there, but decided to pretend as if they were and treat himself as an actor bringing to life a character and choosing to love and respect the original character and think for them. The consideration he had towards the original souls of the body he took over was great and how he decided to pretend as if they were still there and teach them so that if they really were there and he left, they could take over and have a great start again. Ultimately it paid off in such a sweet way too!

The shareholders of Yuyao Entertainment knew that Yan Wei has ability what I can’t understand is that why they kicked him out

Because they thought he was going to die soon. He often faints from hunger and lack if sleep. It’s the same reason why his parents wanted to replace him with his brother.

  3. chronos5884

Fair enough. Knowing an interloper would take over your own body and get together with the person who killed you and benefit the people who harmed you is a pretty dang good reason to resist dying and letting the interloper take over.
