I Decided to Go on a Trip Since I Received Consolation Money

Chapter 9 Part 1: The brother watches the hero’s love life at the theater.

“Haa… it was great today too, right?”

“Yes, it was great today too…”

“That Hero’s devotion… The scene where he’s seduced by that demon woman, but doesn’t even look at her because of his strong love for the princess and remains in love with her. The best!”

“The princess who encouraged and supported the hero was also good. I was mesmerised by the princess’s incredibly firm response when the hero was laughed at for his low status.”

“I get it~ but even though they have feelings for each other, the hero continues to hide his feelings for the princess. It is so heart wrenching~ it’s wonderful~”

“I suppose it’s the bitterness of love between different statuses.”

He didn’t talk to Reiru about the time when he was recruited from the Vigilante Corps in the countryside to the Knights in the capital due to his vast amounts of magic power and physical ability. Or when he became a special trainee as a hero candidate. Or even when he received the title of hero and had to face the demon king.

Gio didn’t say anything to Reiru, and to be fair, Reiru didn’t ask anything either. The two of them had no such habits between them at all, and more importantly, Reiru had never worried about Gio.

Gio had always been physically strong and quick witted. He had established a strong sense of self and was honest with himself. He didn’t abuse the weak, and he didn’t flatter the strong. He knew what he wanted, and he was able to keep pushing toward it. People like him can usually overcome most things.

That’s why, Gio would be fine. Reiru simply thought so.

The hero of the play was eloquent.

It was no surprise, since he was an actor and there was a plot. However, this play seemed to be based on the life of the real hero, Gio, and Reiru couldn’t help but shed tears, wondering if there were so many hardships and sufferings that Gio never talked about.

The play depicted the days when Gio, a commoner, was unfairly harassed and slandered in the Knights, which was mainly made up of nobles. The play showed how he endured it with bitter tears of frustration, but nevertheless he continued to study and without corrupting his values.

The princess who empathized with Gio, defended him and encouraged him.

Gio rose up as a hero, eager to defeat a powerful enemy for the sake of the people, and his friends who shared his sense of justice gathered beside him.

Even though Gio knew that this day might be their final farewell, Gio was only allowed to kiss the back of the princess’s hand as a vassal, and the princess could only watch over their departure.

The days of intense fighting and the great decisive battle followed.

Reiru didn’t know that Gio had so much passion inside him, and that he spent his days in anguish and strife. He didn’t think too much about Gio, partly because he was so busy with his daily life. Although he was grateful for the money Gio was giving him, he didn’t understand the weight of it.

No wonder Gio’s friends and the princess thought I’m a hindrance. Because all I did was take, and I am of no use to Gio.

Reiru was seriously convinced.

However, Reiru didn’t think that Gio would tell him what was on his mind even if he asked him. He was sure it would only upset Gio if he unnecessarily read too much into things. Maybe they wanted to tell Reiru that he shouldn’t be around Gio if that was the extent of their relationship.

That must have been their thought process.

Reiru didn’t think he could be of support to Gio, and Gio probably didn’t wish for that either.

He and them had different roles.

In the same way that most people are not ashamed of themselves for not being able to become a king, Reiru was not ashamed of himself for being such a person.

Although Reiru was older than him, Gio hadn’t relied on Reiru since long ago. From the beginning, Gio was not such a weak person that Reiru had to protect him. That’s all there was to it.

In the end, Gio overcame the hardships and defeated the demon king. And eventually he will marry the princess, just like the plot of this play.

See, as expected, Gio was fine. Reiru reaffirmed the known facts. I am sure he will continue to live happily with the support of his friends and the princess.

Like the rest of the audience in this theater, Reiru sincerely congratulated the hero on his happy ending.

TN: That’s why, propaganda is scary. I feel sorry for our tsundere Gio. Part 2 will come out on Sunday because Mai sent me kofis. Thank you very much. I am sorry I couldn’t post as soon as the kofi goal reached. Both Elena and I are happy for the love this novel is getting. Enjoy reading.

wwuuuwuuwu i feel so bad for Gio. I imagine him finally meeting Reiru and Reiru congratulates him for his marriage with the shitty princess and how they should separate cause he thinks he’s not good enough for Gio huhuhuhu Thank you for the chapter

    1. Fluff fluff

Omg yessss. I want to see gio and his friend’s reaction. Make them feel super bad and regret from all the time they showed dislike to reiru. Am I too harsh even though I only like fluff 🤔

Thanks for translating. Tho propaganda isn’t always scary or bad. Propaganda for lgbtq+ ,rights is a good kind of propaganda, workers rights propaganda, propaganda in favor of inclusivity, etc., all examples of good propaganda. Propaganda is a tool, neither evil or good, but can be used for both. When Hitler used propaganda it was for evil, when Ghandi used it, it was for good.
