Hello, Mr. Zhou (aka: Love and Marriage Anecdotes)

Chapter 64: “The guest I’m inviting is my husband.”

Zhou Xiulin pushed the door open and walked step by step into the courtyard. The bungalows were neatly arranged in three sides, and in the northeast corner, there was a pear tree even taller than the houses.

“Who are you looking for?” Qin Yilu, wearing slippers and her hair tied up in a simple bun, didn’t look like her usual self. The film crew had gone to shoot in the fields, but she stayed behind to take care of Jiang Xiao, who was sick.

Zhou Xiulin’s back was to her, his posture straight.

Qin Yilu squinted her eyes; she had over 400 degrees of nearsightedness. At the moment, she wasn’t wearing her glasses, but she vaguely felt that this handsome guy looked somewhat familiar.

Zhou Xiulin turned around and nodded at her. “Where’s Jiang Xiao?”

Qin Yilu’s mouth opened wide. “Oh, Boss, hello.” They referred to Zhou Xiulin as “Boss” in private, and she blurted it out without thinking. She quickly realized it wasn’t appropriate. “Mr. Zhou, Jiang Jie is resting in her room. Please come in.”

Zhou Xiulin walked in casually.

Qin Yilu was extremely nervous but then quickly realized that she hadn’t groomed herself yet. She could only brace herself and accompany the boss.

“They’ve gone to the fields, so I’m enjoying a special benefit today—a day off.”

Seeing that she wasn’t in the best spirits, Zhou Xiulin asked, “Have you had breakfast?”

“Not yet.”

“You go freshen up, and I’ll check the kitchen.”

Jiang Xiao flashed a sly look from the corner of her eye. “Mr. Zhou is here to deliver a loving breakfast, huh? The kitchen is in the first room on the east side.”

Zhou Xiulin unbuttoned his shirt, and Jiang Xiao helped him roll up his sleeves. Both of them wore wedding rings on their ring fingers, a clear sign for anyone observant.

Zhou Xiulin entered the kitchen, and Qin Yilu immediately returned. “Jiang Jie—Jiang Jie—”

Jiang Xiao made a sound of acknowledgment.

“Jiang Jie, I have a question.”

“Go ahead.”

“Why did Mr. Zhou suddenly come here?” Qin Yilu’s expression was full of confusion. “I just had a thought—”

Jiang Xiao raised an eyebrow, eagerly awaiting her words.

“Jiang Jie, what exactly is your relationship with Mr. Zhou?”

Jiang Xiao sighed deeply. Qin Yilu was sometimes very clever, but why did she have to act foolish now? “I should have introduced him earlier. My husband, Zhou Xiulin.”

“186 is Mr. Zhou? Oh my god! Jiang Jie, you’re amazing! It was you! The mysterious woman of Mr. Zhou! Who would have thought it was you! You two are truly, truly incredible,” Qin Yilu exclaimed, completely shocked. She started pacing around the room, muttering to herself, clearly overwhelmed.

Jiang Xiao grabbed her. “Enough, he’s just an ordinary person.”

“Jiang Jie, with that statement, you really make me want to hit you!” Qin Yilu said with a hint of resentment. “I can’t wait to see everyone’s reactions. Who said your husband was bald? Hahaha…”

Jiang Xiao replied, “Jealousy makes people ugly.”

Qin Yilu burst into laughter.

Meanwhile, in the kitchen, Zhou Xiulin was struggling. The big rural stove was indeed a challenge for him. In the end, he had to turn back and ask Jiang Xiao for help.

Jiang Xiao had a mischievous smile on her face. “There are things you don’t know either.”

Zhou Xiulin knew she had done it on purpose and pulled her waist close. “Are you teasing me?”

Jiang Xiao giggled.

The sunlight was perfect, a gentle breeze brushed their faces, and the air was sweet.

A little yellow dog from the farmer’s household wagged its tail and wandered around.

Qin Yilu looked on longingly. “What a shame! The camera crew isn’t here. This would have been the highlight of the show.”

Zhou Xiulin could only stay for two hours before he had to leave.

Jiang Xiao went to see him off, and the two of them walked along the rural path. The countryside scenery was wonderfully picturesque, with a faint scent of grass in the air.

Her voice was choked with emotion. “Dad wrote in the letter that when my mom found out she was pregnant with me, she had just been chosen to star in a movie. Mom insisted on aborting me, but… it was him who knelt down and begged her to give birth to me, because if she had aborted me, she might never be able to have children again in her lifetime.”

“Xiaoxiao, Dad is sorry for what I did. I originally didn’t want to tell you about this. Your mom wanted to abort the baby, and she was quite young at the time. The doctor said that if she had aborted the child, she might never be able to have children again in her lifetime. I knelt down and begged her to give birth to you, and I promised her that I would never tell you who your mother is and wouldn’t disturb her… As you grew up and started to resemble your mom more and more, I suddenly couldn’t face you. Your mom and I will never be able to atone for what we did…”

Zhou Xiulin tightened his grip on her hand, applying a gentle pressure. It seemed that Jiang Yi couldn’t bear to face her, all these years of self-exile, wandering away. People could be kind at times, but kindness could coexist with ruthlessness.

Jiang Yi, out of love for Liang Yue, let her give birth to the child for her own selfish reasons. And Liang Yue did it, too, disregarding her daughter for the sake of her acting dreams. Just as it was written on her resume, this part was entirely wiped clean.

If Jiang Xiao hadn’t appeared, perhaps Liang Yue would have truly forgotten about this chapter.

No one knew, and no one would ever bring it up, allowing them to deceive themselves as if nothing had ever happened.

The human heart has its softest side and its most indifferent side.

Zhou Xiulin had never figured out how Jiang Xiao’s birth had come about. No wonder she had asked him that way back then, if a mother accidentally became pregnant, would she have to have the child due to rare blood type reasons.

Zhou Xiulin stopped in his tracks, his gaze deeply focused on her.

Jiang Xiao raised her head and locked eyes with him. “I’m fine, I’ve already made peace with it. In the past, I could only bury these sorrows deep in my heart, but now, because of you and Little Bean Sprout, I’ve slowly let go.”

Zhou Xiulin’s voice gradually returned. “I’m glad you’re okay. I’ve always been worried about this being the biggest burden in your heart. Now that it’s resolved, we can forget about it. There are many things in this world that can’t be explained clearly.”

“Yes, I never expected that you and Dad would meet in the United States and have such dangerous experiences.” She pointed at his chest with her fingertip. “I’m suspicious, did you marry me to repay my dad for saving your life?!”

A smile tugged at the corners of Zhou Xiulin’s mouth, his voice gentle. “If I give my all to repay a favor like this, Miss Jiang, aren’t you satisfied?”

Jiang Xiao snorted. “Clearly, it was all carefully planned, making me anxious for nothing.” She lowered her head and hugged him. “I even thought you just wanted a child.”

Zhou Xiulin kissed her hair gently. “I’m sorry, I didn’t clarify things from the beginning. I was afraid that if I did, you would run even farther away.”

She was so sensitive back then.

Jiang Xiao’s face was against his chest. “We should thank Little Bean Sprout too, shouldn’t we? If it weren’t for his unexpected arrival, maybe we wouldn’t be in the situation we are now.”

“Yes, he’s a big hero. So, when we have our wedding in October, we’ll let him be the ring bearer.”

Jiang Xiao nodded. “Okay.”

“After this program ends, we will have our wedding in October.”

“Okay.”

In the distance, there were sounds of commotion. Jiang Xiao looked over and said, “They’re back. Hey, you should leave quickly.”

Zhou Xiulin hesitated, “…”

Jiang Xiao opened the car door for him, saying, “Be careful on the road.”

Zhou Xiulin couldn’t help but shake his head, “You…” She pushed him into the car.

Jiang Xiao stood by the side, her expression hesitant, and finally said, “Can you free up the next few days?”

Zhou Xiulin raised an eyebrow, “Mrs. Zhou, I have a business trip in a few days. Do you have any plans?”

Jiang Xiao gave him a glare, “If you can’t free up the time, forget it.” She turned and walked away, taking joyful steps with a smile of happiness on her lips.

Zhou Xiulin rolled up the car window, started the car, and left in a hurry.

On her way back, Jiang Xiao coincidentally met Sheng Mina and the others.

Sheng Mina asked, “Jiang Xiao, did you see a black Bentley just now?”

Jiang Xiao nodded.

“Who was it?”

Jiang Xiao shook her head and replied vaguely, “I’m not sure.”

Sheng Mina furrowed her brows, “How come you’re out here?”

Jiang Xiao replied, “I came out for some exercise; otherwise, my bones would all stiffen up.”

Sheng Mina chuckled, “You do seem comfortable.” She pondered for a moment, noticing that the car had a license plate from Jincheng. How did it end up in Yunni Town? She silently noted down the license plate number.

Back in the courtyard, Sheng Mina took the opportunity when she went to the bathroom to make a call to her assistant. “Please check this license plate number for me.”

“Mina, this is a Jincheng car.”

“Yes, please find out as soon as possible.”

“Alright.”

Qin Yilu hadn’t told anyone about Zhou Xiulin’s visit. As she was leaving, she looked somewhat regretful, saying, “I really don’t want to go. Jin Zhongbei is coming soon, and my brother-in-law is also on his way.”

Yi Han, who was nearby, overheard and teased, “Is brother-in-law really coming? Jiang Jie, you need to show some extra affection!”

Jiang Xiao urged them to leave quickly, giving them a gentle push and reminding them to focus on their acting.

Qin Yilu sighed, “I feel like I’m going to miss the most exciting scenes. Can I stay calm?”

On the way home, Qin Yilu opened Weibo and posted a message.

【I’m super excited for the broadcast of “The Most Beautiful Agent.” It’s full of surprises and excitement. I really don’t want to leave! See you in November. [Look forward to it] [Look forward to it]】

As soon as she posted, her fans started to react.

Lulu’s Treasure: Huh! Have you finished filming?

Heading North: Lulu, it seems like our Brother Bei also went. Did you bump into him?

Where Did the Frog Son Go: Please spill the details! We want photos!

Qin Yilu replied: No [spread hands]

Her reply made the comments boil again.

As a result, Jiang Xiao felt a little embarrassed when she saw Jin Zhongbei after he arrived in Yunni Town. Her good friends are his fans, and her artists are his fans.

Sheng Mina received a call from her assistant a day later.

“Sister Na, I found out that the owner of that license plate is Mr. Zhou Xiulin of Huaxia.”

Sheng Mina took a deep breath, “Are you sure?”

“Yes.”

“So, Jiang Xiao and Zhou Xiulin?” Sheng Mina’s brain was rapidly processing information. “Could Jiang Xiao’s husband be Zhou Xiulin?”

“But didn’t Mr. Zhou already get married and have children a long time ago? Could Jiang Xiao be his mistress? Otherwise, how could Jiang Xiao have such good resources in recent years? And if Jiang Xiao is Mrs. Zhou, would she still work as an agent?” Sheng Mina thought along these lines as well.

“You should send this information to ‘Pa Pa Weekly’ and also to Lu Pin. They should know what to do next. Do it right away.”

“Okay.”

In the third wave of guests on “The Most Beautiful Manager,” the biggest star to appear so far was Jin Zhongbei. With the arrival of this seasoned veteran, the program’s previously lively style suddenly turned serious.

No one dared to act recklessly.

The director’s team was in turmoil!

No wonder no one had invited Jin Zhongbei to variety shows before; now they understood why.

In the evening, the game turned into a cooking competition. Jin Zhongbei personally prepared squirrel fish and scallops. Once the dishes were served, everyone showed appreciation by eagerly digging in. The food was so delicious that it could rival dishes from five-star hotels, and everyone was genuinely impressed.

“Brother Bei, how come your cooking skills are so amazing?”

Jin Zhongbei smiled and replied, “My sister is very picky when it comes to food. Because our elders were busy with work when she was young, I took care of her for a while. She refused to eat, and no matter how I tried to coax her, it didn’t work. So, I decided to try cooking for her.”

“Heaven owes me a big brother,” someone exclaimed.

Jiang Xiao placed the freshly made cumin potatoes on the table and overheard their conversation. She knew that these potatoes were Little Bean Sprout’s favorite.

“Jiang Jie, do you often cook at home?” someone asked.

“I don’t have many opportunities to cook at home. I usually eat with my in-laws’ place,” Jiang Xiao replied.

“Does your husband cook?”

“He’s better at cooking than I am.”

“Jiang Xiao, how did you get married so early?”

Everyone seemed quite interested in this question, and even Jin Zhongbei turned his attention to her.

Jiang Xiao smiled slightly, “I met my husband in high school.”

“Wow, love at first sight!”

“My husband is my classmate’s older brother. Later, after I graduated from university, we met again and got married.”

“You skipped the most important part.”

Jiang Xiao laughed, “Today, Mr. Jin is here, and it’s a rare opportunity. Why don’t you ask Mr. Jin?”

Sheng Mina, on the side, sneered. Jiang Xiao not only packaged her artists well but also herself. Why hasn’t she debuted?

At this moment, the program team handed out activity cards, and everyone received one.

【Please call the fourth mystery guest now and invite them to the program tomorrow.】

Everyone’s faces lit up with excitement. In fact, everyone already knew about this segment. The mystery guest was only a mystery to the audience.

They each dialed the phone numbers in order.

Sheng Mina invited her college senior, Sun Jing invited singer XX, Fang Mu invited his colleague, and finally, it was Jiang Xiao’s turn.

All eyes were on her.

Jin Zhongbei teased, “Jiang Xiao, don’t be nervous.”

Jiang Xiao held her phone and took a deep breath. She smiled, her voice clear, “The guest I’m inviting is my husband.”

She dialed the phone, listened to the familiar ringtone, and after a while, the call was answered.

“Hello, Mr. Zhou—”

I’m glad her relationship with her dad is slowly getting better. As least he’s not constantly running away anymore. As for her mom….idk I can understand her wanting to achieve her dreams because we all do. But even now she’s just idk I still can’t get myself to like her. She want a relationship with Jiang Xiao but she isn’t willing to tell people about it because she still care about her reputation more than her own daughter. And lastly this Sheng Mina….I guess she doesn’t want to work anymore 🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️

What I like is that even though her dad left her, she wasn’t angry with him. He still cared for her and she still have a whole bunch of relatives who loves her even if they were not with her physically. She’s really a very uncomplicated person.
