Hello, Mr. Zhou (aka: Love and Marriage Anecdotes)

Chapter 34: (Untitled)

Jiang Xiao always felt that marrying Zhou Xiulin was a great advantage for her. She had a handsome and wealthy husband, a smart and adorable son, and her career was thriving. Without being immodest, she already considered herself a winner in life.

Zhou Xiulin had taught her many things, including things in the bedroom.

Although she was conservative and shy in this area, with Zhou Xiulin’s patient and earnest guidance, their physical and emotional intimacy was always exhilarating.

In no time, her clothes were off, and his fingers lingered on her soft skin, sending tingling sensations through her body.

The night temperature was around ten degrees, and Jiang Xiao felt a bit cold. Her body trembled slightly, and she reached out to embrace him, rubbing against his body like a clingy little cat.

Zhou Xiulin’s kisses slowly descended, making Jiang Xiao grow hotter and her thoughts more chaotic.

As he moved, she bit her lip, refraining from making any sound, afraid of waking the little bean sprout.

Zhou Xiulin’s eyes shimmered with a delicate light. “Starting tomorrow, let him sleep alone, okay?”

She decided that maybe tomorrow it was time for Little Bean Sprout to start being more independent; otherwise, her back wouldn’t straighten up.

The next day, Zhou Xiulin took Zhou Simu to his parents’ house. From now on, they would be responsible for his school and after-school activities. With his little backpack on his back, Zhou Simu waved goodbye obediently to Zhou Xiulin.

Zhou Xiulin had arranged for Zhou Simu to attend an international bilingual kindergarten in Jincheng. The teaching environment was top-notch in all aspects, and most importantly, they prioritized the privacy protection of the children’s families.

Zhou Xiulin’s parents had their own way of educating children, but they weren’t as strict with Zhou Simu as they were with Zhou Xiulin. However, the generation gap was evident.

Zhou Xiulin took a photo of Zhou Simu and sent it to Jiang Xiao on WeChat.

Jiang Xiao was at the studio, and Song Yiwen had returned overnight. His face was somber, and he looked a bit tired.

Jiang Xiao gazed at him and asked, “What’s going on between you and Zhou Yanyan?”

Dressed casually, Song Yiwen was tall and had handsome features. Despite the entertainment industry being filled with beautiful men and women, he was undoubtedly one of the most attractive.

“We are dating,” he admitted frankly. Jiang Xiao’s breath tightened.

“Have you seen the news online?” she asked.

Song Yiwen nodded. “Yes, I saw it.”

Suddenly feeling a bit exhausted, Jiang Xiao continued, “Do you know how much this news will affect you?”

Song Yiwen understood, “I’m sorry. I didn’t expect to be caught by the paparazzi.”

Jiang Xiao had a headache. “I had someone investigate, and it was orchestrated by Donghua. Your next role is in a drama, and your competitor is Donghua’s top male lead. I managed to secure the role for you. Donghua was upset, so they leaked the news about you and Zhou Yanyan.”

Song Yiwen furrowed his brows. “They leaked it, and I was planning to go public in a while anyway.”

Jiang Xiao said, “…” She couldn’t believe her ears. “That’s right. Zhou Yanyan already told me that you and she were high school classmates. And your relationship with her was not good.”

Getting back on track, Jiang Xiao didn’t want to waste time on this matter. “The studio has already issued a statement. If you admit it now, won’t you be slapping yourself in the face?”

Song Yiwen’s expression became resolute. “I’m twenty-six years old. Having a girlfriend is normal.”

“But you are an artist,” Jiang Xiao insisted, “Song Yiwen, you can date and eventually get married. But right now, you are a celebrity in Huaxia. Do you want to give up all the efforts you made in the past three years?”

Song Yiwen pursed his lips and remained silent.

Another person blinded by love.

Jiang Xiao said dryly, “I didn’t ask you to break up.”

“I understand your point, but how can I ignore her feelings for the sake of myself?”

Everyone has their own standpoint, and it seems that everyone has their own reasons.

Both of them fell silent for a moment.

Jiang Xiao calmly spoke, “Take two days off. Remember that you are going to participate as a guest on ‘Running Brothers’ next week. Prepare yourself. As for your relationship with Zhou Yanyan, I respect your choice.” The path she chooses to take should be her own business.

Song Yiwen curled his lips. “Okay.”

Alone in the office, Jiang Xiao suddenly felt exhausted. Not long after Song Yiwen left, Jiang Xiao received a call from Zhou Yanyan.

Zhou Yanyan asked her to meet up.

Jiang Xiao readily agreed.

In these three years, the two of them had met on various occasions, but every time, they were like strangers with no verbal communication.

From an unknown assistant, Jiang Xiao had now become a well-known beauty manager in the industry.

Zhou Yanyan had acted in many dramas, but she had never achieved great success. Many people ridiculed her in private, saying that she wasted so many good resources.

They met at a café.

Jiang Xiao arrived first and ordered a glass of water. She was afraid that drinking coffee would make it harder for her to sleep at night.

Zhou Yanyan was ten minutes late from the agreed-upon time. When she came in, she was wearing large sunglasses.

Jiang Xiao looked at her as she took off the sunglasses and was slightly stunned. Her gaze fixed on Zhou Yanyan’s face, and after a few seconds, she realized it. Zhou Yanyan had undergone double eyelid surgery, and her eyes now appeared larger and more attractive.

Compared to Jiang Xiao, who preferred a natural look, Zhou Yanyan’s makeup skills had become more refined. Her already attractive features were now further enhanced by her makeup techniques.

Zhou Yanyan gazed at her and went straight to the point, “I saw the statement released by Yiwen’s studio. How do you plan to handle the matter between him and me?” Her expression showed that she was not worried at all.

“I think Song Yiwen has probably already told you,” Jiang Xiao replied.

Shrugging her shoulders, Zhou Yanyan toyed with the ring on her index finger. “You’re not going to ask me why I got together with him?”

Jiang Xiao’s lips curved slightly, “Young men and women meeting and sparking a connection is normal.”

Zhou Yanyan chuckled softly, “Well, I find that I really can’t like you.”

Jiang Xiao remained composed, “But you’ve fallen for my artist.”

Zhou Yanyan was choked, “Do you think I want this? How about you terminate your manager relationship with Yiwen?”

Jiang Xiao’s face turned cold, “Sure, then let Song Yiwen and Huaxia Entertainment terminate the contract, and he can pay the penalty for breach of contract.”

Zhou Yanyan sneered. She had never taken Jiang Xiao seriously, and naturally, she wouldn’t care about her words. However, she did care about Song Yiwen. “I wasn’t planning to make it public either. Who knows what will happen between us in the future? After being in this industry for so long, I’ve seen too many breakups and reconciliations. I don’t have many illusions about love.”

“The production team of ‘Let’s Fall in Love’ approached me, and I plan to join with Yiwen,” Zhou Yanyan said.

Jiang Xiao furrowed her brows, “I don’t agree to Yiwen’s participation. His popularity doesn’t require him to be on such a show.”

Zhou Yanyan raised an eyebrow, “What if he agrees himself?”

Jiang Xiao clenched her hand tightly in frustration, “Do you really like him, or are you just using him to boost your popularity?”

Zhou Yanyan stared at her, “What about you? Why did you marry my brother? Do you really like him, or do you have your own agenda?”

The atmosphere grew more tense.

Jiang Xiao looked at her in silence, “Loving someone doesn’t require flaunting it or letting the whole world know. It’s enough that he and I know.”

Zhou Yanyan furrowed her brows, “Jiang Xiao, let’s make peace. Don’t meddle in my affairs with Yiwen. I will deal with my brother.”

Jiang Xiao had never expected that one day Zhou Yanyan would back down.

Zhou Yanyan continued, “Yiwen didn’t sleep all night yesterday. You know it hasn’t been easy for him to get to where he is today.”

Jiang Xiao sighed, was it easy for her? Song Yiwen was her biggest asset right now. “Actually, the problem doesn’t lie with me. Yanyan, I never ask my artists to follow my demands. They choose their own paths, and I do my best to help them secure resources that suit them.”

Zhou Yanyan paused for a moment before smiling, “Jiang Xiao, your artists are lucky to have you. Because you don’t ask for anything, you genuinely help them.”

Did she not ask for anything?

For the first time, the two of them had a calm conversation that lasted for forty minutes.

In the afternoon, Zhou Yanyan had a photo shoot and had to rush to the next event. They had said what needed to be said.

The two of them walked together from the café.

Zhou Yanyan’s car was parked on the opposite side of the road, while Jiang Xiao had taken a taxi to get there.

Naturally, Zhou Yanyan didn’t offer to give Jiang Xiao a ride back.

After leaving the café, Jiang Xiao opened her phone app to call a taxi.

As soon as Zhou Yanyan looked up, she saw a black car on the other side, and someone inside was holding a camera, taking pictures of them.

She gritted her teeth and said, “There are reporters.”

Jiang Xiao hadn’t expected the reporters to follow them so closely. “Let’s hurry and leave.”

Zhou Yanyan’s expression soured. It seemed she had been hounded by reporters these past two days. She turned to walk towards her car. With her seven to eight centimeter high heels and the hurried pace, she stumbled and fell to the ground.

The reporters quickly snapped photos and then sped away in their cars.

Jiang Xiao rushed over to help Zhou Yanyan up. “Are you okay?”

Zhou Yanyan gritted her teeth, “I’m fine.”

Jiang Xiao glanced at her leg, “Let’s go to the hospital first.”

Zhou Yanyan didn’t resist; she knew she had probably sprained her leg. “Jiang Xiao, I won’t thank you for this.”

“Even if it wasn’t you, I would have done the same for anyone. Don’t read too much into it,” Jiang Xiao replied.

Zhou Yanyan felt choked up.

Jiang Xiao drove Zhou Yanyan’s car in silence all the way to the hospital.

Zhou Yanyan first called her manager, telling her what had happened and asking her to handle it quickly. She didn’t want to see more pictures of herself being leaked. Then she called her assistant to inform her of the injury and asked her to come to the hospital. Lastly, Jiang Xiao thought she would send a message to Song Yiwen, but to her surprise, she sent one to Jin Shuyan.

“Shuyan, I’m sorry, I sprained my foot just now. I won’t be able to take the photos today. You don’t need to come; I’ll handle it and go back myself.”

Jiang Xiao kept her eyes fixed on the road ahead, her hands unconsciously gripping the steering wheel tightly.

At the hospital, the doctor asked Zhou Yanyan to go for an X-ray first.

Jiang Xiao stayed with her and waited for her assistant to arrive. Unexpectedly, Jin Shuyan arrived first. It was evident that her relationship with Zhou Yanyan was quite good.

Jin Shuyan had already graduated from university and had gained some fame in the industry by working for a well-known visual magazine for the past two years. Additionally, she had garnered attention due to the revelation that she was the daughter of Director Jin and Liang Yue.

Jiang Xiao had always been low-key, but this year, leveraging Song Yiwen’s popularity, her name started to gain recognition.

As Jin Shuyan approached, she saw Jiang Xiao from afar. “Hello, I’m Jin Shuyan, Yanyan’s friend.”

Jiang Xiao replied, “Hello, I’m Jiang Xiao.”

Jin Shuyan looked her up and down, hesitatingly asked, “You are Zhou Yanyan’s assistant?”

Jiang Xiao paused for a moment and calmly said, “I used to be, but now I’m Song Yiwen’s assistant.”

Sansukini: One of the things I like about this series is that the author is not afraid to paint intimate scenes like it is. They are charged but you won’t see things like she broke her waist because of doing it, plus they both enjoy the intimacy in an open way. Plus the characters are not one-dimensional nor the bad guys really bad. They grow. Yanyan, for example, was a total brat but you can see her being somewhat mature here. She was also in the other novel connected with this one featuring Lin Wu, Jiang Xiao’s bff, and she was a spoiled brat. You won’t see any face-slap where the cannon fodders were punished for going against the lead. There will be consequences for some people, but they won’t be tragic.

Translator Nim, you have been talking about this other novel since the beginning but I don’t found it.
And I like how she is a understanding and supportive manager. An artist life is not easy.

If you’re interested in that novel, the title is “Hello, Dr. Qin” https://www.jjwxc.net/onebook.php?novelid=3385613
Unfortunately, I’m not planning to translate it. My next project is called “Interstellar Dad”. Where in the Interstellar, men and women can choose who gets pregnant and the man in the novel chose to be the pregnant one. It will replace Married to the Male Lead’s Hidden Rich Brother, coz that one is almost ending.

Hehe. No it’s a straight novel. The same premise as this one, it’s love at first sight. The girl is a poor ethic minority but very smart, the guy is a rich second-generation math genius. Anyway, its their school life, and how the boy decided to become a doctor instead of a mathematician to follow the girl because she also took medicine. It’s a little more dramatic than this one. I don’t think it’s good to translate because it’s so laid back, it might be a little boring. But, SImu and their daughter was in the Extras of Hello, Dr. Qin. I might translate that.
