Encroachment chapter 16 and chapter 17

Chapter 16: Restrained

Since everything had been taken care of, the two of them didn’t linger and headed back to the Shuyi Residential Area.

“Did you tell father and mother about our situation?” he asked, his eyes fixed on the road ahead, hands gripping the steering wheel.

“Not yet,” she replied. Even she couldn’t believe that she had actually married him, let alone Mr. Shen, who considered her an advocate of not getting married, and MRs. Li, her mother.

“Perhaps,” he replied ambiguously.

“If you really win the jackpot, does that count as post-marriage property?” she teased.

He glanced at her meaningfully, only smiling and not answering. That was a boring response.

Shen Shuman touched her nose.

People die for wealth, and birds die for food. They had just obtained their marriage certificate, yet she was already impatiently asking about property.

Would he think she was materialistic because of this?

But she definitely wasn’t that kind of money-grubbing woman.

She had a stable job and income, and her parents had been prosecutors for twenty to thirty years, accumulating quite a bit of savings.

She understood the principle of “contentment brings happiness,” and the only thing she coveted was him. And now, she had inadvertently achieved her wish.

At this moment, life seemed complete.

“I was just joking. I have my own money and don’t rely on yours,” she explained.

“In fact, you can be a bit more greedy,” he hinted.

She didn’t understand, “Hmm?”

As the traffic light turned red from yellow, he gently pressed the brakes and turned to look at her.

Her peach blossom eyes glistened, and he observed her figure attentively, as if he wanted to etch her deeply into his mind and heart.

His lips parted, and he spoke sincerely, almost like a confession: “You have me, let alone those material possessions.”

His words, direct and almost like a declaration; it made her heart tremble, and her cheeks turned visibly red.

“Marrying someone you don’t know well, don’t you find it strange?” she asked. She had secretly admired him for so long, and in her eyes, she was somewhat familiar with him. But he probably didn’t know much about her, right?

He continued driving as the traffic light changed from red to green.

“Not at all,” he replied calmly, with a warm smile.

He handed her a card. “This is the access card for Huici Manor. Take good care of it.”

“Hmm?”

“It wouldn’t make sense to separate right after getting married, right?”

“Oh,” she nodded obediently and carefully kept the access card.

She had thought they would live with his parents, but she didn’t expect him to have achieved financial independence early on and bought a house for himself.

Apartment 2201 in Building 60 of Huici Manor.

He helped her register her fingerprints on the biometric lock and led her inside.

The setting sun cast an orange-red glow through the floor-to-ceiling windows in the living room, bathing the space in warm light.

Shen Shuman stood at the entrance and quickly scanned the area.

The interior had a simple Nordic style, predominantly brown and white. A hanging orchid was placed near the windows, adding a touch of vibrancy to the spacious house.

His home was meticulously organized, with clean windows and not a speck of dust. It made her wonder if he had tidied up specifically for her arrival.

Feeling uneasy, Shen Shuman sat on the couch, her mind working hard to sort out her thoughts.

“Have some water,” Wei Shi handed her a glass, and she instinctively replied, “Thank you.”

“Do you feel so restrained even in your own home?” he sat down on her right side.

He was sitting very close, their legs almost touching.

She blushed and shifted her bottom, trying to create some distance.

He keenly noticed her subtle movement and reluctantly spoke, “Since we’re married, it’s better to clarify some things. You should understand the concept of a spouse, right? It entails assuming corresponding obligations and rights in this relationship…”

His words sounded rigid, lacking a touch of warmth.

Shen Shuman murmured, “More than that, I believe a spouse should love and support each other, through thick and thin.”

Chapter 17. Aroused

“Loving and supporting each other?” he raised an intriguing smile and turned to look at her.

He had his back to the light, and she couldn’t see his face clearly. She could only see his pair of sparkling, bright, and deep eyes, like whirlpools that captivated her.

“Benzylpiperazine is a neurotransmitter synthesized by the human body. It can make lovers feel infatuated, forgetting everything else, focusing only on love. However, its concentration peak lasts for about four years at most, averaging less than 30 months.”

“More than four years…” she murmured to herself.

“Hmm?” His eyes had a mysterious gleam, making it difficult for her to read him.

“I have always believed that natural love has its limits. With the passage of time, the affection fades. At this point, either you break up or release endorphins and enter the realm of marriage, where love gradually transforms into familial affection.”

“Of course, some people make more effort and can maintain the feeling of being in love even after several decades.”

“Love and marriage shouldn’t be impulsive, disregarding everything and acting on whims. It should be handled with care and diligently nurtured.”

He spoke slowly, gradually approaching her.

She was already sitting on the edge of the couch, and with his proximity, she had no way to retreat. She could only lean back, pressing her back into the sofa.

As the final syllable fell, his presence enveloped her entirely.

His face was just three centimeters away from hers, their eyes locked, their breaths entwined, and their body heat intermingling. The setting sun illuminated their side figures, creating an ambiguous and alluring atmosphere, fueling her imagination.

The strong sound of her heartbeat resonated in her chest, “thump thump,” pounding against her eardrums.

She stared at him blankly, unsure if he could hear her heart, which was beating because of him.

“Do you understand?” he asked, his lips almost touching hers.

Shen Shuman held her breath, her mind freezing, what did he mean by understanding? What was she supposed to understand?

Seeing her dazed expression, he suppressed a smile and said, “It’s okay, I’ll make more effort.”

Make more effort? What effort? Snacks?

Before she could figure out an answer, his hand cradled the back of her head, and his lips pressed against hers, sealing her lips.

She knew the texture of his lips—soft and warm.

But she didn’t know that his tongue was so moist, soft, and agile, gently tracing the contours of her lips, slipping into her mouth, delicately caressing her teeth, and exploring her defenseless little tongue.

He hooked her, led her, and enticed her, both of them sinking into this kiss. Her consciousness became hazy, as if she had entered a dream.

In the dream, she was like the willow catkins drifting aimlessly in late spring, carried away by the wind.

But in the moment he embraced her, she brushed against his lapel, and the drifting ceased. Her eyes inexplicably welled up with tears, and two tear streaks trailed down her cheeks.

She didn’t like being touched by others, but she loved his warm body temperature and his breath, which made her body and mind melt into a pool of spring water in his arms.

Involuntarily, she tilted her head, matching his licking and sucking. Tongues entwined and a shamefully tantalizing sound of water echoed between them.

It was unclear what went wrong, but as the kiss intensified, becoming deeper and more passionate, she felt her heart beating faster and faster. She became lightheaded and dizzy, almost fainting.

Wei Shi released her, allowing her to catch her breath.

He stared at her without blinking.

Her gaze was unfocused, veiled in a misty haze, with lingering tears at the corners of her eyes, complementing the tear mole, making her look somewhat pitiful and adorable.

Her cheeks flushed from lack of oxygen, her cherry-like lips swollen from his kisses, with drool still at the corners of her mouth, presenting a delicate and alluring appearance touched by passion.

He felt a surge of heat in his lower abdomen, his desire stirring within him.
