Black Moonlight Holds the BE Script

Chapter 99 Drought Demon

“Junior Brother, Junior Brother?” Zang Hai nudged Tantai Jin beside him, “What’s wrong with you? I called you several times but you didn’t respond.”

Tantai Jin snapped back to reality and whispered, “Nothing.”

“I came to your room to find you earlier, but you weren’t in. Where’d you go?” Zang Hai asked.

“I was in a bad mood and went out for a walk.”

Zang Hai didn’t suspect anything. Ever since coming out from the cave, Tantai Jin’s face was pale and he was clearly troubled by something. It was good for Junior Brother to go out for a walk.

At least now, he looked more normal.

“I gathered some information during the day and found out that tomorrow is the Moonlit Rite. All kinds of demons will be active that night, and the gate to the Devil Domain will open wide to welcome the return of the demon and devil lords. With the token in our hands, we’ll go to the Devil Domain tomorrow night. Junior Brother, make sure you’re mentally prepared. The Devil Domain is full of dangers, so we mustn’t take it lightly.”

“Mmm, I understand,” Tantai Jin replied.

The Mirage Pearl had already fused with Young Master Zhang. Even if the devilish Qi of the pearl wasn’t obvious, it still was no good thing. Although Zhang Yuanbai was young, he had already embarked on the path of devilish cultivation.

Advertisements

The Mirage Pearl had concealed his aura, so neither Su Su nor Zang Hai had seen that Zhang Yuanbai was no longer a mortal.

Tantai Jin had originally intended to silently kill him.

But……

Looking at the pearl infused with the Mirage Pearl’s power in his hand, Tantai Jin tightened his grip.

For someone at the end of their rope1走投无路 (zǒutóu-wúlù) – to be at an impasse (idiom); come to a dead end; desperate, who would mind making a deal with the devil?

Just as Zang Hai had said, the following night was the Moonlit Rite.

A red moon appeared in the sky, and the air was thick with demonic Qi.

On the streets, the night wind stirred up fallen leaves, and most mortals had closed their windows and doors.

For demonic creatures, this night was the best time for cultivation. The red demonic moon contained abundant demonic energy, allowing for a single night of cultivation to be equivalent to several years.

Ever since the Abyss of Desolation’s seal was broken, demons and devils had become rampant in the mortal world. On every Moonlit Rite, it was as if the mortals and demons and devils had reached a consensus—

One side hid, while the other took over the world.

Holding onto the token, Su Su and the others walked under the red demonic moon, waiting for the gate to the Devil Domain to open.

Yao Guang leaned over and asked Su Su, “Su Su, don’t you feel like they’re all looking at us?”

Sure enough, all the little demons who passed by them were staring at them.

There were enchanting red-clad women, bull-headed creatures with bull heads and human bodies, and even a spider with a human face on a tree branch, all greedily watching them.

They hadn’t expected to still attract the attention of demons even after concealing their immortal aura. They’d even followed Zang Hai’s method of keeping a few strands of demon fox fur around their waists to give off demonic aura.

If their righteous Dao appearance was already obvious to the little demons, how recognizable would they be after entering the Devil Domain?

With this in mind, Su Su said, “We must change our disguises.”

Yao Guang hurriedly nodded.

They went into a corner. Su Su envisioned the appearance of a devilish cultivator, and with a spin, her white Daoist clothes turned into a blue cotton yarn dress. Blue forehead ornament with a silver lock2Might look something like this: hung down her forehead, covering the cinnabar dot in between her eyebrows.

The ends of her eyes were outlined with enchanting demonic patterns, making her gaze captivating and full of charm.

“Do I look okay?”

Yao Guang and Zang Hai stared at her wide-eyed. Zang Hai couldn’t help but glance at Su Su’s exposed fair legs, silently swallowing.

It was perfect, simply too perfect, this was the actual appearance of a demon.

Tantai Jin’s eyes darkened slightly, but the corners of his mouth rose, and he nodded.

Su Su glanced at him.

After coming out of the cave, Tantai Jin no longer looked helpless like before. Instead, he concealed all of his emotions, making himself impossible to read.

After figuring out the reason behind the scrutiny of the demons and devils, the others also hurriedly changed their appearances.

Yao Guang gritted her teeth, simply keeping a pair of fox ears on her head.

After all, there were no taboos when it came to being a demon.

Tantai Jin closed his eyes, and when he opened them again, a blue-black devilish pattern spread like withered tree branches from his forehead to his chin,  resembling a gorgeous and demonic half-mask.

Witnessing this scene, Su Su felt strange.

She had seen the Devil God from five hundred years in the future when she was young3before she transmigrated.

Back then, he’d been sitting on the throne in the Devil Domain. The Devil Domain was cold and barren, with molten lava churning in the distance,  and not a single blade of grass in sight.

Under the black cloak, she could only see the Devil God’s exquisite chin, with a faintly visible devilish pattern.

Su Su quickly dismissed this thought.

Advertisements

It shouldn’t be possible. Since Tantai Jin has obtained the divine marrow, he should naturally distance himself from the Devil Dao.

Besides, the new Demon Emperor had already appeared, indicating that the past decline and extinction of the immortal realm wouldn’t happen again.

After the group changed their appearances and stepped out, they indeed attracted less attention from the watching demons this time.

Not long after, a chilling gust of wind blew, stirring up the sand and rocks.

A large gate appeared out of thin air, and on both sides of the gate stood pitch-black stone monuments.

The entrance to the Devil Domain had appeared!

Su Su and the others quickly hid behind the tree, quietly observing the situation.

Afraid of exposing any flaws, they decided to wait for the other powerful demons and devils to enter first, and then follow closely behind.

After waiting for a while, a magnificent sedan flew over from the sky. A slender, pale hand opened the sedan’s curtain, and the newcomer walked towards the entrance of the Devil Domain.

An invisible barrier appeared in the air, and the woman raised her hand. The token transformed into a blood crow and perched on her shoulder. The blood crow flew into the barrier first, guiding the woman as she followed.

Faint voices could be heard——

“Welcome, Lord Nan4南 – north You5幽 – nether world; serene; peaceful; remote; secret.”

Zang Hai lowered his voice and said, “That’s a devilish cultivator. According to my Master, the Abyss of Desolation used to suppress many old demons and powerful devilish cultivators, and Lord Nan You was one of them.”

Su Su murmured softly, “Strange……”

“Su Su, what’s wrong?”

“The seal of the Abyss of Desolation was broken, and these powerful devil clans, regardless of where they come from, are overlords. Demons and devils are unruly by nature, while the Devil Domain is gloomy and desolate. Why would these powerful demonic cultivators choose to leave their own dwellings and willingly submit to the new Demon Emperor?”

Yao Guang couldn’t understand it either. She guessed, “Perhaps the Demon Emperor is incredibly strong, and he’s forcing these great demons and devilish cultivators to submit to him?”

But that didn’t make sense either. If they were being forced, the three-headed demon wouldn’t have gone through so much trouble to thoughtfully bring the “great gift” of the devil baby into the Devil Domain to please the Demon Emperor.

Remembering something, Su Su looked towards Tantai Jin.

“If you were the Demon Emperor, under what circumstances would you open up the Devil Domain and call upon devilish cultivators from every direction?”

As soon as she said that, everyone looked towards Tantai Jin. Yao Guang looked at Su Su strangely. Why would Su Su ask such a question to a relatively unknown disciple of the Xiaoyao Sect?

Are you kidding me? Could the mindset of the Demon Emperor be the same as that of an ordinary Daoist priest?

Tantai Jin’s eyes flickered slightly. Seeing Su Su’s clear eyes staring at him, he lowered his eyes and said, “Perhaps, the Great War of Immortals and Devils needs lackeys.”

Su Su pondered, is that really it?

Zang Hai urged, “Hurry up, while no one’s here, let’s hurry into the Devil Domain.”

Tantai Jin followed behind them. He raised his eyes to look at the eerie Devil Domain entrance, shrouded in devilish Qi and several zhangs tall.

If I was the Demon Emperor? No, I wouldn’t be the Demon Emperor.

*****

Su Su took out the token and followed the woman’s lead by attempting to transform the token into a blood crow guide.

Everyone couldn’t help but feel a bit nervous. After all, the Devil Domain token was created by Zhang Yuanbai, and in a sense, it was a counterfeit. If it didn’t work, that would be a problem.

Fortunately, the token moved, and slowly transformed into a blood crow before their eyes.

Su Su stared at the blood crow, and the corners of her mouth slightly twitched.

Tantai Jin wasn’t surprised at all.

The blood crow in front of him had turned out deformed, with a large wing on one side and a small wing on the other.

It flew awkwardly in the air, not as agile as the other blood crows, without any sharp devilish Qi.

Zang Hai softly cursed, “That Zhang brat wouldn’t be playing tricks on us, would he?”

Ugly as it was, the blood crow still flew into the Devil Domain, and an invisible door opened for them.

What they saw before them was a desolate land. If the Abyss of Desolation was like a massive graveyard, then the Demon Realm was a forsaken wasteland— it was impossible to tell which direction you were facing or where to go, everywhere looked the same.

The smell of blood permeated the air while the flawed blood crow flew ahead, guiding them.

Yao Guang looked around and said, “There really seems to be no life here.”

It was rumored that nothing could live or grow in the Devil Domain.

As they approached the center of the Devil Domain, the air became hotter. Tantai Jin stared at the churning magma on the ground, and a strong smell of blood filled his nose, causing him to slightly frown.

Within his chest cavity, his heart, previously injured by the Soul Extinguishing Nails, began to beat wildly. A terrifying sense of belonging made him uncomfortably stop in his tracks.

He had always been sensitive to crises.

Something bad was going to happen in the Devil Domain. His instincts were urging him to quickly leave. However, when he raised his eyes, Su Su, Zang Hai, and Yao Guang were still following the blood crow ahead.

He clenched his hands, and suppressing the discomfort in his heart, he followed them.

*****

Fire flickered and crackled.

The faint flames shone on a woman in a red dress lying beside a black throne.

Despite the numerous devilish cultivators gathered below, she didn’t glance back at them.

She caressed the cold black seat affectionately, as if caressing the body of a lover.

The woman’s jet-black hair cascaded down like a waterfall. As she knelt, her hair scattered across on the ground.

She was barefoot, revealing a pair of feet adorned with two silver anklets.

Zang Hai sighed inwardly, oh my, I can tell from just a glimpse at her back, it’s another beauty.

However after a short while, the temperature inside the devil hall rose and rose, until it was as if they were thrown into a furnace. Zang Hai wiped the sweat from his forehead, and his romantic thoughts instantly vanished.

Su Su and the others hid behind stone pillars. Many devilish cultivators were gathered in the devil hall, so their presence wasn’t obvious.

It wasn’t until the sound of footsteps echoed that the demons and devils turned to look and quickly made way.

When Su Su saw the newcomer clearly, she frowned.

It turned out to be the purple-robed man who had battled with them that day, the Fusion Stage devilish cultivator.

As the purple-clad devilish cultivator appeared, someone whispered, “It’s Jing6惊 (jīng) – startle; frighten; surprise Mie7灭 (miè) – extinguish; exterminate!”

“How surprising, Jing Mie is still alive.”

The man called “Jing Mie” slowly walked to the side of the woman in red and called out, “Si8娰 (sì) Ying9婴 (yīng) – baby; infant!”

Upon hearing his voice, the woman slowly turned around.

She had a pair of devilishly green pupils, with the whites appearing somewhat grayish. Seeing Jing Mie, she covered her lips and laughed, “You’re injured. Who could harm our Lord Jing Mie?”

The moment Su Su clearly saw the woman’s appearance, her eyes trembled.

“What’s wrong?” Yao Guang asked.

“There’s only one person in this world with grey eyes and green pupils.”

“Who?” Yao Guang was momentarily stunned. She didn’t have an ancient artifact like Curved Jade, so naturally she wasn’t aware of this.

“The drought demon,” Su Su said solemnly.

The drought demon was an ancient demon. Even though the ancient Devil God was already dead, the ancient drought demon was still alive. It was no wonder that the entire Taixu Mountain was quietly exterminated.

Red clothes…… the Left Guardian, the woman with extremely high cultivation who could kill without a trace! She was actually the ancient drought demon, Tantai Jin’s most trusted subordinate.

Su Su abruptly turned towards Tantai Jin.

The devilish pattern on Tantai Jin’s face looked peculiar as he unblinkingly stared at the throne of the Devil Domain.
