Chapter 17 [End of Volume]

Now, Xue Youka had accepted this situation with a peaceful mind and thought being Cheng Yu’s girlfriend was quite good.

After eating and drinking their fill, the two of them arrived at a private pier near Yintan Beach.

The Gefjon, with a total length of about 27 metres, was not as big as the boat Xue Youka had been on before, which was full of tourists. However, this yacht was incredibly beautiful and majestic, firmly capturing the gaze.

Xue Youka was filled with curiosity but didn’t dare to speak. It wasn’t until he climbed aboard the yacht from the stern that he exclaimed, “Wow.”

The stern of the Gefjon was like an outdoor garden, with a curved grey sofa and a pure white dining table.

Entering the interior through a whole glass door, there was a living room, a dining room, and then the helm at the bow. There was a staircase to the port side leading to the lower deck. Xue Youka couldn’t stop exclaiming on the upper deck; it was like a luxurious mansion!

“Do we really not need to buy tickets?” he asked Cheng Yu.

“No, just have a seat.” Cheng Yu had him sit on the sofa, stood in front of the helm for a while, and then instructed two crew members who came aboard to bring him fruits and blankets.

“Xue Mimi, put on a life jacket.”

Cheng Yu turned on the power switch, started the generator, untied the mooring ropes at the stern, and then started the engine.

Until the yacht left the pier, Xue Youka saw Cheng Yu operating the yacht and was instantly shocked. When he turned around, he noticed two crew members standing in front of the pier, shouting at them. It was then that he realised something had happened.

“Brother, did we… accidentally take someone else’s boat?” Xue Youka asked.

“My boat.” Cheng Yu gazed ahead at the vast deep blue sea and turned his head to smile at him. “It’s not a crime.”

“But do you have a driver’s licence?”

Cheng Yu couldn’t come up with a response for a moment.

“Don’t worry, I know how to operate it. Just follow the navigation, and we’ll reach Weizhou Island,” Cheng Yu assured him. He knew how to operate the yacht, but he had never done it like this before, sailing alone… No, not alone, he also brought his girlfriend.

Xue Youka looked at the sea through the cabin glass, feeling a bit troubled. “Brother, maybe we should go back.” He wasn’t a coward, but the most rebellious thing he had ever done in his life was putting glue on the maths teacher’s chair. He was afraid that the police would come after them.

“Mimi, don’t worry, the boat won’t flip over,” Cheng Yu said. “I’m skilled at this.”

Seeing that Xue Youka seemed genuinely scared by the speed of the yacht, Cheng Yu freed up one hand and said, “Give me your hand.”

“I’ll teach you how to operate the yacht.”

Cheng Yu guided him, teaching him how to steer. “Don’t move too quickly.”

On the vast, uninhabited sea, the pier grew smaller and smaller until it became a tiny black dot.

The feeling of evading surveillance and being free was exhilarating. The yacht’s speed was too fast, and Cheng Yu’s heart rate rose along with it. His smartwatch beeped, but he ignored it.

He deliberately deviated from the original route, but he knew there was a GPS system on the boat. It wouldn’t be long before someone caught up with them. So he accelerated to the maximum, making it appear as though they had left the pursuers behind. Cheng Yu began to decelerate and gradually came to a stop, dropping the anchor.

“Let’s go up.” Cheng Yu held his hand and led him up to the deck.

After the yacht came to a stop, the sea breeze became gentle. Xue Youka stood on the deck and realised that there was nothing around them except deep blue water. No other colours could be seen.

“Did we get lost?” Xue Youka asked.

“No,” Cheng Yu said with a sense of timing, knowing that someone would come looking for them soon. This incident probably hadn’t been reported yet.

He lay on the wide sofa on the deck, his head resting on his crossed hands, and slightly turned his head to look at Xue Youka. “I’ll be leaving next week.”

“So soon?” Xue Youka thought that he would be starting school soon as well.

“Yeah.” Cheng Yu wanted to tell him not to get too attached to him.

But he couldn’t say it.

Cheng Yu took out his phone and put on his earphones, handing one earpiece to Xue Youka.

As soon as Xue Youka heard the music, he realised it was an English song, one he had listened to on his own MP3 player that he had already deleted.

But Cheng Yu seemed fully engrossed, closing his eyes and embracing the bright sea breeze and intense sunlight.

So, this was the song Cheng Yu liked. Xue Youka secretly took off his earphone.

Suddenly, Cheng Yu spoke, “What do you think?”

Xue Youka quickly put the earphone back in. “It sounds amazing!”

Cheng Yu smiled.

In just a few minutes, they heard the roaring sound of engines from behind, along with a row of white splashes of water trailing behind the stern. Xue Youka stood up and saw one, two… he counted them, a total of seven small yachts surrounding the Gefjon as if they were responding to an emergency.

Xue Youka was dumbfounded, and images of a maritime battle flashed through his mind.

“Young master, please come back with us!” the people on the boat shouted with worried faces.

Cheng Yu sat up lazily and apologised, “Sorry, I couldn’t resist and drove for a while.”

“Call someone to drive the boat for me. We’re going to Weizhou Island.”

The people on a few boats looked at each other and two sailors in shorts came up. They didn’t dare to speak to Cheng Yu and started the engines again.

The yacht started up again, and the sea breeze greeted them, tousling Cheng Yu’s black hair. He hooked his finger with Xue Youka’s, who was still dazed. “Xue Mimi.”

“Hmm?”

“I might have to undergo surgery. Once the surgery is done, I’ll come back to find you.”

Xue Youka nodded, widening his eyes. “Surgery? What kind of surgery? Brother, are you sick?”

Cheng Yu rested his chin on his hand and looked at him. “I’m sick.”

“W-what kind of illness? Is it serious?”

Cheng Yu didn’t know the specifics, but he had to go abroad to see a doctor, and with the frequent alarms from his smartwatch recently, he couldn’t help but think more.

“I don’t know. Maybe I’ll have to get a healthy heart transplant,” Cheng Yu teased him deliberately.

Xue Youka’s eyes widened, and various bloody images flashed through his mind.

“Have you found a heart?”

“Not yet.”

Xue Youka’s eyes showed deep concern. “W-what if you can’t find one?”

Cheng Yu shrugged.

“Brother, my heart is healthy,” Xue Youka was truly shocked, and his expression turned sorrowful. “If you really can’t find one, I… I can lend you half of mine until you find one… or even more.”

This utterly nonsensical statement sprouted like a seed in Cheng Yu’s beating heart.

“I don’t need yours,” Cheng Yu thought. The situation couldn’t have been that serious. “I was just teasing you. I’m not sick.” He pinched Xue Youka’s nose. “Alright, don’t cry.”

Xue Youka didn’t cry, but he almost did. He felt a tinge of sadness, thinking of the dog that died in a car accident when he was a child.

Feeling angry at the revelation, he said, “Cheng Yu, why would you lie like that?”

“It wasn’t intentional,” Cheng Yu said with a focused gaze. “Girls don’t look good when they cry.”

“I…” Xue Youka rubbed his nose, realising that he had also lied. “Okay, I forgive you.”

Later, every time Cheng Yu went out to sea, he would remember that sunny afternoon. The thing he regretted most was not giving him his first kiss in the gentle sea breeze that day.

(End of Volume One)
