The protagonist of the novel, Bradley Wolf, was in front of him.

He was indeed the protagonist, and he was so handsome that his surroundings seemed to glow. The back of the hero was in excellent shape at this time. He was so tall that the current frail Renatus had to look up at him.

“…From the magic department?”

The handsome man also had a beautiful voice. It was a kind of sexy voice that you would not expect from a fourteen-year-old.

Renatus stared at him absentmindedly. He was many times cooler than the illustrations. He was worlds apart from Renatus, who was creepier than the illustrations.

Bradley seemed suspicious of Renatus, who did not respond. Renatus came to his senses when he saw Bradley’s expression that looked like he was looking at someone suspicious. Renatus shook his head repeatedly.

In the original story, Bradley Wolf was harassed by Renatus. There was also a scene in which an ink bottle was thrown at him.

Obviously, the current Renatus was not in the knight department and did not do that kind of thing. Yet Bradley seemed to be receiving the same harassment from another person.

(Is it that? The arranged ‘restorative power’ for reincarnated people in original novels…?)

Anyway, the first thing to do now would be to clean these up.

He cast a spell, which made the clothing in his hands float in the air.

Renatus used ‘Clean’ to remove the stains carefully. Then, he used ‘Dry’ to dry the clothes and finished off with ‘Press’ to skillfully smooth out the creases.

It was something he was familiar with since he was used to ironing his shirts from when he was an office worker.

The clothes that had folded in mid-air fell into Renatus’ arms smoothly.

“Here you go.”

When he handed over the now clean clothes, Bradley accepted them with a surprised look on his face.

Perhaps it was strange to see him being accustomed to doing laundry in an academy attended by nobles.

“You saved me. Thank you.”

Bradley’s expression softened slightly and he thanked Renatus. He then changed into his clean uniform. His figure looked awesome, too, with a man’s sex appeal. He didn’t look his age by any means.

“Can I ask you what happened?”

“…”

“See, I’m in the magic department, and I rarely interact with the knight department! So, wouldn’t you feel refreshed after talking it out?”

Renatus wanted to probe into Bradley’s current situation. If there really was a ‘restorative power,’ he would like to know how it worked.

Renatus had suggested this in a friendly tone because he had wanted to talk to Bradley as casually as possible. Yet, Bradley’s expression stiffened.

“It is best that you don’t know. This is something that a high-ranking noble is in on. You could be harmed just for being nice to me.”

Bradley seemed to be concerned for Renatus.

That Renatus might suffer power harassment for being seen as getting involved with Bradley.

He was kind. As expected of the protagonist of the original novel.

This was the academy, so students were supposed to be ‘equal despite their family status.’

But that was just on the surface. The high and low family status was still judged. In addition, hierarchical relationships, such as between senior and junior, were also entwined, which complicated things.

In the original novel, there had been no noble above Renatus in status within the same grade. So he wasn’t likely to be harassed because of his status.

“Umm, I think I’d be okay, but… Rather than standing here talking like this, why don’t we sit in the rose garden over there?”

The rose garden was only a few steps away.

People didn’t go by here and there was a gazebo where you could settle down. Renatus invited him with good intentions, but Bradley looked displeased.

“Rose garden…”

Bradley’s words were spoken with a much lower voice than before and were more like a mumble.

And his expression gradually became grim.

His next look directed at Renatus was one of nothing but hostility.

“Why did you approach me?”

“What?”

“What an amazing high-ranking noble. You are good at scheming.”

Bradley exhaled in disdain.

Scheming was a disturbing word. Renatus did not know why he had a sudden change in attitude. Renatus asked him in confusion.

“What are you…?”

“I put the screws to the guy who was harassing me and he confessed. He said, ‘I did it for Renatus Ashfield’.”

“Whattt!”

Renatus exclaimed loudly in surprise.

Bradley quietly muttered, “Shameless”, then clicked his tongue hatefully.

“You seem to be plotting to get rid of me, but if you continue to do so, I’m going to counterattack…I despise you with all my heart for your underhanded ways.”

With that, Bradley turned on his heel and walked away.

“Ehh…?”

Renatus tilted his head in bafflement.

It all happened so fast that he hadn’t even had time to ask what the situation was about.

This had been Renatus’ first encounter with someone from the knight department. And yet, the apparent mastermind of the bullying within the Knight Department turned out to be himself.

Renatus wondered if this was the so-called ‘restorative power’. Even though there wasn’t the slightest connection whatsoever, it made the plot similar to how it was in the original novel.

“Rose garden…”

Bradley’s demeanor had changed upon hearing about the rose garden. The rose garden and Renatus Ashfield seemed to be connected.

Indeed, he visited the rose garden almost every day. But how did someone from the knight department know that when he had never run into anyone there?

“It’s strange that I’ve never run into anyone in the first place…Even though the rose garden is beautiful.”

Renatus pondered.

There was no way for him to directly probe into the knight department. There were not even many people with whom he exchanged words in the magic department. Renatus was of the asocial type, often sitting quietly in the corner of the classroom.

“…That’s right!”

He had been told by his foster brother, Clarence, to contact him if anything came up.

Clarence was from the knight department. Even though it had been a few years since he had graduated, there were probably still some juniors that Clarence knew within the academy. There was also the power dynamic between seniors and juniors, so if Clarence said so, his juniors would work on it for sure.

He wanted to know what was going on in the knight department right now.

If Bradley was having a hard time, Renatus wanted to help him.

(Because I’m a fan of Bradley from ‘The Heroic Legend of the Wolf King’.)

After class, he sent a message to Clarence as soon as he got back to his dorm.

There were magic tools for communication in this world. It was an expensive tool, but his foster father and brother had bought it for him as a gift without even batting an eyelid.

He had been implicitly asked to contact them often, but because of his unchanging daily life, he only sent them a message once a week nowadays, saying, “It’s been another normal week.”

They usually gave him a long reply in return, perhaps because they were both good correspondents. Even now.

“Oh, I already got a reply.”

The light of the magic tool lit. Clarence replied very quickly.

‘All right. I’ll look into it.’ I knew I could count on big brother.”

Renatus nodded.

TN: Renatus’ fanboying was adorable. The author drew lots of art for this novel and I will share them in discord. This week is the original villain Renatus. Enjoy reading.
