I’ll Share The Bed With You.

Chapter 30: Wedding Night

Jiang Xingxing had just driven away from the green avenue of Wangjiang Villa when Lawrence and several medical staff in white coats entered the villa, without even seeking permission from the villa’s owner.

Lawrence had the password for the villa’s main entrance, a privilege granted to him by the first persona, Shang Jie.

The medical staff not only brought medical equipment but also ropes and other binding tools.

When they entered the living room, they saw Shang Jie reclining casually against the sofa.

The flickering night lights enveloped him in a hazy glow, his fitted white shirt accentuating the smooth muscle lines of his upper body. His long legs were casually spread apart, exuding a sense of laziness.

With his head tilted slightly, the night lights cast a soft glow on his handsome profile, while the other half was shrouded in darkness, his long eyelashes gently fluttering.

This man seemed like the most exquisite masterpiece of a creator, so beautiful that one couldn’t bear to look directly at him.

Unfortunately, both angel and devil coexisted within him.

Lawrence’s face was grim. “Young Master Shang, do you know that you’ve deceived me for a long time? This is a humiliation for me.”

Of course, Shang Jie knew that Lawrence was a paranoid and almost pathological overachiever back in school, determined to score full marks in every subject. Brilliant people often admire each other, which is how he got to know the equally perfect Shang Jie.

Lawrence was like a trained and experienced hunter; it was absolutely unacceptable for him to watch his prey slip away right under his nose.

Shang Jie smiled faintly, his cold eyes glancing at him. “Lin Chuan knows, my mom knows, my woman knows, even the household staff knows, and the company employees have noticed. Yet, only you are kept in the dark. Do you know why?”

Lawrence’s expression remained impassive. “Why?”

Shang Jie spread his hands elegantly. “Because they all understand that I have only one name: Shang Jie.”

Lawrence snorted lightly.

Shang Jie stood up, gazing at him from a distance, his expression gradually cooling. “Lawrence, only you care about who I really am, only you.”

“I am employed by Mr. Shang.”

Shang Jie suddenly raised his voice. “There is only one Shang Jie in this world!”

Lawrence took the silver, elongated syringe from the nurse’s hand. “But it’s not you.”

“Does it make a difference?” Shang Jie looked into Lawrence’s emerald-green eyes and said in a low voice, “I can sit in his position. I possess all his knowledge and decision-making skills. I can even do better, putting my mother at ease, making my woman happy, and allowing those around me to feel relaxed. I can do everything he cannot…”

“But you are not him. Perhaps you can replace him, but you will never be him.” Lawrence stepped closer to Shang Jie. “Your existence is an insult to him. Do you know how disgusting it is to suddenly see a fly smashed against a pure white wall? It makes everyone ignore the wall’s purity, and all eyes can see is that disgusting black fly.”

Shang Jie’s hand clenched into a fist, the pale skin of his knuckles revealing faint blue veins.

Lawrence leaned in close to his ear and, in a very soft, slow, almost hypnotic voice, said, “And you… you are that fly.”

His consciousness began to blur as the syringe was slowly injected into Shang Jie’s carotid artery. The cigarette butt in his hand fell to the ground and went out.

“Wake up…”

Jiang Xingxing suddenly jolted awake from her nightmare, finding herself lying on a soft sofa.

The sofa’s leather was comfortable and made of flannel. A small bedside lamp beside her glowed dimly. The wall was adorned with several stylish posters of male celebrities, and a vanity took up almost a quarter of the room. In the center, a steel bed was cluttered with several dresses thrown haphazardly.

This was Ming Jin’s room.

Jiang Xingxing first opened the bedding, feeling drowsy as she walked to the window. The night was deep, and the rain drizzled against the glass, like crawling earthworms.

A chilly wind seeped through the window, and Jiang Xingxing shivered, stepping out of the room.

“Awake?”

Ming Jin just walked in with a cup of hot water. “What did you do last night to be this exhausted? You fell asleep even while sitting.”

Jiang Xingxing rubbed her head, feeling a bit dazed, unsure why she was so tired.

“What time is it?”

“You slept for three whole hours; it’s ten o’clock now.” Ming Jin sat down and said, “Wuqing and Ming Zhao are still rehearsing downstairs. Do you want to go take a look?”

“Is Shang Jie there too?”

Ming Jin replied with frustration, “According to Mu Mu, your busy boyfriend had some last-minute matter to attend to and can’t make it.”

Jiang Xingxing knew that Mu Mu referred to Lin Chuan; Ming Jin always called him that.

“He promised he would come, and he rarely has social engagements at night.”

“Who knows? Anyway, he’s a big shot. It’s already a pleasant surprise that he wants to come to our theater to rehearse. If something else comes up, we can’t really say anything, right?”

Jiang Xingxing had called Shang Jie several times, but it always went unanswered, making her increasingly anxious.

Lin Chuan had already left the theater, and when she tried calling him, his phone was turned off.

Jiang Xingxing recalled Shang Jie’s unusual behavior today and thought about the marriage certificate. Something seemed off.

When he left, his gaze toward her was filled with reluctance.

“This is bad!”

Jiang Xingxing instinctively felt that something was wrong. Without even grabbing her coat, she hurried out of the Red House Theater.

Ming Jin chased after her, shouting, “It’s raining outside, little ancestor! Take an umbrella! Don’t catch a cold!”

Jiang Xingxing ignored her shout and plunged into the rain.

The light drizzle turned into a torrential downpour, and by the time Jiang Xingxing burst out of the park gate, she was soaked to the skin.

She hopped into a taxi, urgently saying, “Driver, hurry! Huanqing Road, Wangjiang Villa complex.”

The driver glanced at her through the rearview mirror, unsure about this disheveled-looking woman wanting to go to the city’s most upscale neighborhood.

“Wangjiang Villa complex, drive!” she suddenly yelled, “Are you afraid I won’t pay? Hurry up, or someone might get hurt!”

The driver was startled and quickly started the engine, driving away without delay, stepping on the gas as hard as he could to get her to Wangjiang Villa.

The room was dark, with no lights on. Jiang Xingxing, who had just been rushing, now hesitated at the entrance.

The dark villa resembled a sleeping beast in the shadows, and she didn’t dare disturb it.

Standing in the rain for an unknown amount of time, even the golden retriever in the doghouse raised its head and whimpered at her. Jiang Xingxing finally gathered her courage and took unsteady steps toward the villa.

She told herself, Jiang Xingxing, you are now the mistress of this villa. Don’t be afraid of the man inside. No matter how he changes, he is still your husband.

After entering the code, the door opened slightly, and Jiang Xingxing trembled as she reached out to pull it open.

A strong medicinal smell rushed in, but it was hard to identify—somewhat like the smell of disinfectant in a hospital, but not as pungent.

The living room was dark, with no lights on.

She could hear movement upstairs and confirmed that someone was home—he must be there.

However, at this moment, the person upstairs might no longer be her newlywed husband but a completely unfamiliar man, and she had to be mentally prepared.

Jiang Xingxing forced herself to take deep breaths to ensure she wouldn’t be so startled by his changes that she wouldn’t dare to say a word, trembling against the wall like a rabbit.

That would be too embarrassing.

She recalled the first time she met Shang Jie—his cold eyes piercing through the gap of the car window, a memory that was still fresh in her mind.

That strange man was not easy to deal with.

Jiang Xingxing steeled herself mentally and slowly made her way upstairs, trying to make her footsteps echo on the wooden floor, reminding the man in the room that his wife was back.

The master bedroom door was ajar, and she gently pushed it open. The medicinal smell grew stronger inside. It was not as melodramatic as she had imagined—

The man sat in the dark, his legs crossed, looking cool as he awaited her return, ready to throw the divorce agreement in front of her…

The room was eerily quiet, as if no one was there.

The window was open, and the curtains billowed with the wind, whistling softly.

The man lay in the center of the deep blue bed, curled up like a baby in the womb, with his knees drawn up.

That body was very familiar to her; every muscle and inch of skin was almost perfect in its contours.

He hugged his knees, arching his back slightly, trembling faintly.

Jiang Xingxing hurried over and pushed him, saying, “What’s wrong? Are you sick?”

However, as soon as her cold hand touched his skin, the scorching temperature made her instinctively pull back.

So hot!

She reached out again, touching the skin on his back. His body temperature was indeed extraordinarily high, indicating a serious fever. Jiang Xingxing was terrified, her heart racing as she fumbled for her phone, shivering as she dialed 120.

At that moment, his strong arm suddenly reached out, pressing down on the back of her hand and firmly grasping her left hand in his palm.

Jiang Xingxing felt as if she was enveloped in flames.

Shang Jie had half his face buried in the pillow, while the other half was turned toward her.

His deep-set eyes were swirling with intense emotions, and for a moment, Jiang Xingxing couldn’t tell who he really was.

“Shang… Shang Jie.” She stammered like a frightened rabbit, lacking confidence as she asked, “Do you still remember me?”

Shang Jie suddenly pulled her hard, causing her to stumble and sink into the soft bed.

“Xingxing.” His slightly lazy voice called her name as he tightly wrapped his arms around her, saying, “Damn it… finally, you’re back.”

It was still him!

Jiang Xingxing breathed a sigh of relief and asked, “What did they do to you?”

“Some necessary treatment; I won’t go into details, it might scare you.”

He held her tightly from behind, his voice weak, “Lawrence injected me with a sedative when he left, trying to make me sleep.”

And he had managed to stay awake all this time, waiting for her to return?

Jiang Xingxing’s eyes turned red.

“If… if you had fallen asleep, would you have become another person when you woke up?”

Shang Jie weakly lifted the corner of his mouth, “Just remember, the me who wakes up… is still me.”

Jiang Xingxing cupped his jaw, looking at his handsome yet weary face, where rough stubble grazed her hand.

His deep eyes were struggling to focus, trying hard to see her face, but his consciousness was slowly fading.

Tears streamed down Jiang Xingxing’s face as she asked, her voice choked, “What did they… do to you?”

Shang Jie reached out and wiped away her tears, pressing his hand on the back of her head and kissing her lips tenderly, “Don’t cry; I won’t leave. I’m always here.”

Jiang Xingxing closed her eyes in discomfort, “Where would you go?”

“To a very dark, dark room.”

“Can you see me?”

“I will see you, touch you, kiss you. Everything he feels is what I feel.” His fingertips played with Jiang Xingxing’s flushed earlobe as he softly said, “So, stay by my side.”

“I won’t leave you.” Jiang Xingxing hugged him tightly, “I promise!”

No one had ever treated her this well. Shang Jie was the first boy in the world who liked her. She was willing to marry him, to become his wife, entrusting herself to him wholeheartedly.

“Are you going to sleep?” Jiang Xingxing always asked with concern.

Shang Jie took a deep breath, his beautiful peach blossom eyes half-open and half-closed, “I can… hold on a little longer.”

But as he spoke, Jiang Xingxing had already shed her clothes and crawled into the warm bed.

Shang Jie’s body instinctively tensed. He could feel the girl’s soft and cool skin against him.

“…”

If it were any other time, he would have lost control and taken her completely, but now… he wasn’t so sure.

Jiang Xingxing was like a gentle kitten, curled up beside his chest, listening to his rapid heartbeat.

Seeing that Shang Jie was hesitant to act, she bit her lower lip and softly asked, “So, can you do it or not?”

Do it?

That question was lethal for any man.

Shang Jie roughly pressed her delicate body beneath him. Even if tomorrow were the end of the world, he could not care less.

I know that a psychiatrist should try hard to keep the main personality dominant, nevertheless I think the way Lawrence work is still not appropriate. A doctor isn’t supposed to be judgemental. He’s supposed to be observing, analysing, Encouraging. He can provoke but not condescending insulting like that.
    It’s just weird.
It feels more like he’s trying to make him a puppet and control him completely.
He doesn’t seem to care about the patient wellbeing.
    I don’t like him anyhow.

  2. I don’t know why but I’m crying reading this chapter. Feels like seeing Shin Se gi scenes all over again
