Sweet Husband Pampers His Wife

Chapter 49 – Bet With Your Life (Epilogue)

Furthermore, Luo Fan claimed that they were childhood friends. But why did her and Ji Nan Feng’s grandfathers not recognise him?

“Don’t you think your words are full of loopholes?” Mo Li Xin questioned.

“I know you don’t trust me, but those are the facts.”

“Another thing that didn’t make sense was, in the end, my mother didn’t marry you, no?”

“En, she didn’t marry me. Back then my family was facing some difficulties and we became bankrupt. Without saying a thing, Yu’er went and married your father. And from then on, that was the end of all our ties. They wronged me first, I was never at fault. I lost contact with them for many years. It was only the year before last that I made an appointment with his father and Yu’er. At that time, Yu’er was actually caring enough to persuade me to return to the right path. How ridiculous!

“Afterwards, we met up a few more times, no one knew that I was there, so rumors started spreading that your mother seduced his father. With their reputations ruined, I wanted you, younger generations, to destroy one another. With that, my first step for revenge was completed. Later on, I personally killed the two people who betrayed me. It’s forever engraved into my memory, the look your mother gave me just before she died. It was the kind of look filled with regret and plead, how pitiful! Hahaha! Unfortunately, she couldn’t say a thing for I’ve destroyed her vocal cords, making her mute, haha haha!”

Luo Fan’s crazed gaze turned to Ji Nan Feng.

“What a pity, it didn’t manage to create a rift between you two. I’ve severely underestimated you. After all, at the time when you first got married, it coincided with the rumors of adultery and their unexpected deaths. However, you just treated her coldly for a few miserly months. Even after planting Duan An Ran at your side, it was useless.”

“Finally one day, she told me that she could finally marry me. You don’t know how ecstatic I was as I prepared for our wedding. But in the end? She turned around and married someone else the next day. How ridiculous! After leaving for twenty-five years and returning, things might have remained the same, but people already changed. From when I was eighteen, I’ve already embarked on a path of no return. Yet, now you dare to claim that she loved me, how laughable!”

“But those were the facts. Have you never found it weird? If Yu’er wanted to marry someone else, wouldn’t she have long married? Even when you thought that she and Ji Hao Yu were in love with each other, everything was what you thought. They never once said that! That year when Nan Feng’s father married Qing Yu, it was all due to their family’s arrangement. At that time, I was young and I didn’t know the feelings I had for Ji Hao Yu was love until it was too late, by then they were already married. I thought that when I grew older, I’ll find an ordinary person to marry. I never expected Qing Yu to pass away seven years into their marriage. This allowed me the chance to marry Ji Hao Yu. But it’s all your fault he died! You bastard!”

As words continued to flow, Wei Xiu Lan became more and more livid.

“Back then your father murdered someone by mistake and it coincidentally got discovered by Yu’er’s father. He persuaded your father to surrender, but your father refused. In the end, Yu’er’s father met with an accident during the car chase. That’s why Yu’er’s grandfather suddenly fell ill back then. And because of this incident, her grandfather forbade you two from being together and forced Yu’er to marry Mo Yuan, who had always loved her.

“Yu’er initially didn’t agree to that arrangement, thus she kept dragging and wasting time for nearly nine years. She even ran away from home halfway through. Yu’er was kept in the dark of this incident until Li Xin’s grandfather fell critically ill and she was forced to return. It turns out that good father of yours was the cause of it. He was the one that caused her father’s illness that eventually led to his death. Yu’er regretted and grieved, but she knew that this matter had nothing to do with you even if it was your father who did it.

“At that time her family was in a desperate state, the family’s business was in a decline. And she finally had no choice but to accept her family’s arrangement and marry the Mo family. She said that she tried to look for you, but at that time you’d already disappeared. It wasn’t until years later that you reappeared. But you killed her… You kept claiming that you loved her. But your Luo family killed her father, and then you personally murdered her. You still have the face to say that that’s love!”

Wei Xiu Lan was so emotional that she almost fainted. These were things Mo Li Xin’s mother told her personally and she also did a bit of investigating on her side. Thus, that day in the hospital when Duan An Ran said that it was Mo Li Xin’s mother who killed her husband. She did not believe a single word.

“You’re lying, how outrageous! She could’ve told me, she should’ve told me!” Luo Fan was on the brink of collapse. It turned out that there were so many things that he did not know.

“Tell you? And say what? Tell you that your father indirectly murdered her father? Or tell you that your father used her and blackmailed her father?” Wei Xiu Lan roared. Ji Nan Feng quickly stepped forward to hold her back.

“Mom, let’s go. In the end, he was too ruthless and my mother was too blindly in love,” Mo Li Xin said indifferently.

Since she was a child, she did not feel much emotional attachment to her mother because after giving birth to her, her mother never cared much for her. Her mother was always in a daze and did not show as much love and care for her as her father did. Now she finally understood why her mother acted like that. Turns out her heart was filled with the shadow of this scoundrel!

Suddenly thinking of something, Mo Li Xin reached for her neck and took off a necklace. This was the only thing her mother left her. Her mother told her that in her life, this was the most precious thing to her. As she was a child back then, she did not understand and did not think to ask about it. But now it seems that there might be an allusion…

“Do you recognise this?” Mo Li Xin brought the necklace to Luo Fan, who was still lost in his own thoughts.

Luo Fan looked blankly as he raised his head. When he saw the necklace, his whole body stiffened. Full of disbelief, he stretched out his trembling hand wanting to take the necklace. But before he could touch it, it was swiftly drawn back.

“This was given to me by my mother when I was very young. It was the only gift she ever gave me. She said that this was the most precious thing in her life. Now I finally know what she deemed as precious to her,” with a burst of strength Mo Li Xin broke the necklace and pocketed it.

“I’ll burn it to ashes and toss it into the sea. I think my mother would’ve done the same,” Mo Li Xin nonchalantly stated before she turned to leave. Wei Xiu Lan was boneless and needed to be supported out of there.

It seemed that everything had finally come to an end.

At Tian Tai Mountain, Mo Li Xin was wearing a coat, staring into the distance in a daze.

“Thinking about those things again?” Those things were referring to their previous lives.

“I’m just thinking if my mother never did those things back then, would we have ended up together in our past lives? Or would it have ended very differently?”

“Perhaps, but I would rather have this life.”

“But why?” Mo Li Xin looked back at Ji Nan Feng.

“Because…” Ji Nan Feng paused.

Hugging her from behind, he habitually rested his chin on top of her head and continued, “because, after everything that had happened, I came to know that I truly love you.”

Even when the truth was unclear, and his heart was filled with a deep vengeance covered in a sea of blood, he had still not been able to conceal his liking towards her.

One month passed quickly, and everything seemed to fall back on track. Yet, in this one month, many life-changing events took place. Such as Luo Fan committed suicide in his cell. And Duan An Ran was being executed via a firing squad. Then there was Gan Yun Ting and Xu Qing Man suddenly getting married…

Although a lot of unexpected events took place, it was not surprising, to say the least.

~~~~
Time flashed by, and happy days always passed quickly. In a blink of an eye, it was already ten years later.
“Mummy, Brother Zi Hang said that he’s coming home today. Can I go to grandparents’ place? I want to see Brother Zi Hang!” A long-haired girl dressed in a white skirt and white sneakers asked a woman who was currently painting.
“Fei Fei, your Brother Zi Hang said that he would come directly to our place, so there’s no need for you to go. Why not go and fetch Zi Rui home for dinner?” Mo Li Xin suggested.
Although ten years had passed, time had not left its trace on that woman’s body. In fact, she seemed to have become more radiant.
“Forget it. Little brother, that prodigy, always has a look like he’s the best in the world. I don’t want to fetch him, let him come home himself,” Fei Fei, a budding beauty, pouted. She was still growing up with some baby fats thus looking extremely adorable. Although she said that, there was a cheeky smile hanging on her lips.
“That’s also correct. Then let’s forget it and let the chauffeur pick him up.” Mo Li Xin was helpless. There’s a saying that every parent hopes their children will be the smartest they could be, but Mo Li Xin did not share the same sentiment.
When Zi Rui was still a couple of years old, he was still manageable. But when he turned four to five, he suddenly turned into a little adult. He could master whatever he set out to learn. Within a few days of getting a new computer, he hacked Jiu Zi’s security system. When she questioned him, he actually replied that he did not need to be responsible for destroying Jiu Zi since the boss of the company was his godfather. As long as he did not burn the company to the ground, Gong Ze Yun would not blame him.
Since young, he feared nothing in heaven or on earth. He was also extremely smart but was constantly up to mischief. Mo Li Xin was very helpless on how to discipline this child.
If there was one thing Ji Zi Rui feared, it was probably only his father, Ji Nan Feng. Hence when ‘practicing’ his hacking skills, he dare not use Ji Corporation as his guinea pig. Another reason would be because Ji Nan Feng did not like Gong Ze Yun, so he turned a blind eye, essentially permitting Little Rui Rui’s actions.
“Why do you look so busy again? Don’t we have a nanny?” Ji Nan Feng stepped into the house, loosening his tie, carrying a briefcase. He had told her a thousand times, but a certain someone did not seem to know how to make use of the resources provided for her. But he would never tire from telling her over and over again.
Mo Li Xin had just finished her painting and was washing her paint palette.
“It’s nothing serious. Have you called your eldest brother already?”
“They said that they’re reaching,” Ji Nan Feng walked over and took away her dabbing sponge and paint palette.
“Oh! Did you know that Man Man is pregnant again?” Mo Li Xin told him. She used ‘again’ because this would be their third child.
“En, Fourth Brother is accompanying her for her prenatal checkup, so they’ll be arriving later,” he replied.
“Nan Feng, I wish to discuss something with you,” Mo Li Xin suddenly blurted.
Ji Nan Feng wiped his hands and pulled her onto the sofa with him, “you can make the decision, don’t need to ask me.”
Mo Li Xin was speechless. In the past ten years, he had treated her extremely well. And he always let her decide everything. Everything except for one thing; no more children.
She knew that he was afraid of the possibility of a repeat of that year when she gave birth to Zi Rui. She almost lost her life, one corpse with two lives. Furthermore, from their point of view, they already lost a child once, in their previous lives.
Mo Li Xin did not reply, but one could see the complexity within her gaze. She opened her mouth and closed it several times, but did not manage to voice what she wanted to say. It was until dinner when she suddenly vomited and was rushed to the hospital then did he find out that she was pregnant.
In the passageway of the hospital, it was surprisingly quiet. Mo Li Xin sat on a chair facing the tall man.
“Right now, what should we do?” After years of taking precautionary measures, it still happened. However, she was secretly delighted by this piece of news.
Ji Nan Feng remained silent for a very long time before squatting down in front of her and holding her hands. Looking deep into her eyes, “I’ll put my life in your hands. After a year, whatever the outcome is, I shall share it with you.” even if the outcome is a misfortune.
His sentence echoed in the empty passageway into her ears. She knew, no matter what she faced in the future, he would be right beside her.
After another nine months, the sound of two cries transmitted from the room. The two lives finally safely entered the world. Other than joy, it also brought about relief. Because everyone remembered the doctor’s warning when Zi Rui was born; if she ever became pregnant again, she would be betting with her life.
Laying in the operating room, a fair-skinned woman gave a faint smile, “Nan Feng, we won the bet…”
The author has something to say: Once again, I would like to state that this book was not very brilliant, and I didn’t check it thoroughly and this is my fault. But too many things happened recently and I don’t have much time to write and check. Although the book is free for all, I’m still sorry. Regarding some of the things that weren’t explained clearly, I might write an extra if I have time. To everyone who read this book, if you think that it deserves a bit of merit, do remember to bookmark me. The next book will not disappoint you all.
And this brings us to the end of this novel!
I can’t find Ji Nan Feng’s father’s name, it was just Ji **, so I ‘gave’ him a name…
Although Author-sama said she would write an extra, but as of this last post, I can’t seem to find it. And frankly, I don’t think I’ll be keeping a lookout for the extra. ><
Thank you everyone who has accompanied me on this long journey (close to a year since I posted my first chapter.)
Special thanks to those that thank me for my updates etc and those that commented about the novel inside the comment section. Everyone was so sweet and some comments were even hilarious. All of these really played a part in motivating me to keep going. And I’m forever grateful!
Merry Christmas & Happy New Year Peeps!~
    Well, obviously the character of Mo Lixin is heredited from her mother. They both are the same kind of people… doing stupid things and died for a man who didn’t deserve them.
