Sweet Husband Pampers His Wife

Chapter 20 – Malicious Car Accident

Mo Li Xin was taken aback; something that could not be completely understood despite one having seen and using their heart to feel? He advised her to use her head to analyze the situation after considering it rationally. But were they not just passing time in a shooting booth?

“Don’t think about it. Follow your instinct and pull the trigger when it tells you to. Don’t hesitate, don’t doubt your intuition. It’s the choice your heart made,” Gong Ze Yun continued.

With a bang, another bullet flew from the gun. Mo Li Xin felt that Gong Ze Yun was no longer talking about shooting. It was as if he had something else he wanted to tell her, but for the life of her, she did not know what they were.

She fired shot after shot, as though she was discarding her negative emotions. By the time Mo Li Xin used up all her ammunition, she felt significantly lighter.

“Ah… I didn’t expect this to be so tiring,” Mo Li Xin groaned as she landed on a chair next to her.

“Whenever something upsets me, I find myself feeling better after having a good sweat. So, how are you feeling now? Slightly better?” Gong Ze Yun came into the booth and handed a bottle of water to her.

“I’ve heard of people drowning their sorrows in alcohol. This is the first time someone claims that sweating relieves their stress. But, are you feeling down currently?” Mo Li Xin enquired.

Gong Ze Yun looked at her and grinned, “I was just now. But after seeing you, I feel much better.”

“Alright, it’s getting late. Let me send you home.” Gong Ze Yun calmly stated. This was supposed to be an opportunity that he should have taken advantage of. Yet, he refrained from doing so and even helped put a few good words on that person’s behalf. He figured that he must have gone crazy.

“I wish to stay a while more. You should head off first though. From the looks of it, your phone is about to burst,” Mo Li Xin said with a smile. Although his phone was muted, the screen kept lighting up, so she eventually noticed.

“It’s okay, I’ll accompany you.”

“There’s really no need. I want to be alone.”

Gong Ze Yun pondered silently for a moment.

“Alright. Remember to pay attention to safety on your way home,” Gong Ze Yun finally gave in. He was indeed busy, but nothing else was more important than Mo Li Xin; not himself, not his work.

Not long after Gong Ze Yun left, Mo Li Xin left the shooting range and went up a floor to a large billiard room. The second Mo Li Xin landed on the next floor, she heard a familiar voice.

“An Ran, how are you holding up now? Have Ji Nan Feng remembered anything?” The speaker was a lady in a red maxi dress. And she was none other than Yun Ting.

“Oh yes, I too heard that Young Master Ji has amnesia. Now he’s even under the spell of that vixen. Abandoning you to be together with that, what’s her name? Mo Li Xin? Come to think of it, that woman is really shameless,” a short-haired lady who was with them said.

“It’s okay… don’t say anymore. We’ll be fine, Nan Feng and I are truly in love… I believe that with time, he will remember everything.” Duan An Ran said gently. However, from the bottom of her heart, she had cursed Mo Li Xin a thousand times over.

It took her much effort today to create a ‘coincidental encounter’ with him. Hoping that they would be able to start all over again even if he could not recall anything. Yet, she did not expect that no sooner had she managed to enter his car, she was kicked out.

“Indeed! Why are we so worried about this? Our An Ran is so fantastic. What is Mo Li Xin compared to her? In the future, it would definitely be An Ran that would be together with Third Master Ji!”

Mo Li Xin who was eavesdropping, sniggered ironically, ‘Don’t you know? Young Master Ji is already married. What’s more, he’s married to the person that you called a vixen.’

Those words never left her mouth. But the sarcasm that laced in those thoughts… even she was unsure if it was directed towards the group, or to herself.

“Eh? Isn’t that Mo Li Xin?” Yun Ting suddenly asked.

“It’s really her. Hey! What brings you here? An innocent goody two-shoes like you would also fancy coming to this place?” The short-haired woman mocked.

“Since you all can come, why can’t I?” Mo Li Xin did not hide herself when she spotted them previously. So when they noticed her, it was not unexpected.

“You must’ve overheard what we said just now right? So don’t think that you’ve the upper hand now just because Ji Nan Feng can’t remember anything. He will eventually remember it one day. So don’t be so smug about it,” Yun Ting sneered.

After listening to those words, Mo Li Xin gave a chilling laugh.

“Haha… Duan An Ran. Why don’t you answer your friend’s question. Who is the real third party in this relationship? Who should be rightly deemed as the mistress?” Mo Li Xin stepped forward and boldly questioned. Even she, herself, did not know where the sudden burst of courage to confront Duan An Ran came from.

Duan An Ran also did not expect Mo Li Xin to challenge her so outrightly, that she was stumped for words.

“Mo Li Xin, what nonsense are you saying? Based on your words, our An Ran is actually the third party?!” Yun Ting said defensively.

“Just ask her, she knows this better than anyone else.” Mo Li Xin believed that her marriage with Ji Nan Feng was no secret to Duan An Ran.

After saying her piece, she left as they were still stuck in a state of bewilderment.

The sun had long set and the freezing wind blew on relentlessly. Mo Li Xin had no destination in mind and wandered on aimlessly.

On the street, people came and went and traffic flowed steadily.

Mo Li Xin felt a sudden wave of headache. But before she could recover, she heard a shout that was full of distress. However, before she could find the source of that holler, she felt a strong force smashing into her. In her last moments of consciousness, all she registered was pain. Pain that did not result from the car crashing into her; but one that hurt deep into her bones and choked the air from her lungs.

When Ji Nan Feng arrived, he was greeted with the scene of Mo Li Xin being hurled a distance away when the car collided into her. At that very moment, the world around him seemed to be void of sound. He even found it difficult to breathe. He had been but a little late… If only he had arrived earlier, just slightly earlier, how different the outcome would have been.

The pedestrians around were shocked by the accident. As the car ran over the girl in the white dress, crimson blood dyed her dress, so glaringly red that it caused people’s hairs to stand.

Ji Nan Feng frantically pushed through the crowd to get to her. He knelt on the ground and carefully embraced her like she was a priceless treasure.

The ambulance swiftly arrived and Mo Li Xin was rushed into the emergency room. Four other people hurried to the hospital upon hearing the news. Ji Nan Feng’s mother and grandfather, Wei Xiu Lan and Ji Shi Bo, along with Mo Li Xin’s grandfather and older brother, Mo Xiang Hang and Mo Shi Bai.

“How could this happen? You all barely settled down from the last accident and now you’re at the hospital again. So many mishaps, truly plagued with misfortunes. My poor Xin’er,” Grandpa Mo grieved. In that few seconds, it looked as if he had aged a decade.

“Grandpa, fret not as little sister will be fine. Heaven helps those that are worthy.” Mo Shi Bai calmly comforted Grandpa Mo. But from his tone, one could tell that his mood was extremely solemn.

“Yes, Old Man Ji. Being too worried will negatively affect your health. Li Xin is a good and kind-hearted child, God will definitely protect her,” Ji Shi Bo reassured.

“Grandpa, I’m sorry. This is all my fault. If only I’d found her earlier, all this would not have occurred.” Ji Nan Feng confessed regretfully.

There’s a saying that men have gold on their knees; they do not easily kneel before anyone. Yet Ji Nan Feng, who had not even kneel before his parents, knelt without hesitation in front of Mo Xiang Hang.

“What are you doing?” Mo Xiang Hang was baffled.

Before Ji Nan Feng could complete what he wanted to say, another person briskly came over and knelt before Mo Xiang Hang too.

“Elder Mo, it’s all my fault. If it wasn’t because Li Xin saw… Nan Feng and I together, she wouldn’t have left alone. The resulting car accident wouldn’t have happened.

“But… but… Nan Feng and I are in love with each other, just that recently due to his amnesia… that’s why… that’s why… But I don’t blame Nan Feng. We knew each other before he got married. If it wasn’t because… for you, he… this wouldn’t…” Duan An Ran sobbed pitifully, as though the victim in this whole situation was her.

The surrounding medical staff and patients had their attention glued as this unfolded. While the majority of the men sighed in pity at Duan An Ran’s plight, the women clicked their tongues in contempt. She was the epitome of a modern day white lotus1‘Modern day white lotus’ shares a similar meaning to ‘green tea bitch’. Where on the surface, the woman looks innocent and pure but on the inside, she’s scheming and manipulative. Guys like them, but girls can sense it from a mile away..

One could say, women’s intuition was alarmingly accurate.

When Mo Li Xin left the club, Duan An Ran also rushed out in a fit of anger. She wanted to confront Mo Li Xin or she would not be able to stomach this grievance. Who knew that as she stepped out, she would witness Mo Li Xin getting into a car accident. At that time, she viciously thought, ‘See! Even God couldn’t bear to watch on!’

Yet, before she could rejoice, she saw Ji Nan Feng running towards Mo Li Xin as if he lost his soul. The anger that was recently placated, flared up again. Hence, she decided to follow them to the hospital, seeing if Mo Li Xin would die from this.

As for why Duan An Ran suddenly rushed over and blurted everything out… it stemmed from an unjustifiable confidence within her.

In their social circle, everyone knew that Elder Mo loved his granddaughter dearly. If Elder Mo came to know that Ji Nan Feng had an extramarital affair after he paid such a high price to marry his beloved granddaughter to Ji Nan Feng, this marriage would definitely be dissolved.

As for the high price, it was referring to a house. Previously Ji Nan Feng told her that if the Mo Family was the one that asked for the divorce, the assets would remain under him. Therefore, based on this point, she ignored the Mo Family’s feelings and Nan Feng’s marriage as she boldly admitted.

On Ji Family’s side, everything would become easier to handle now that they knew of the situation. Realizing that their grandson/son was being blackmailed into getting married, they would naturally not want to be in-laws with the Mo Family any further.

As for the last point of her consideration, Duan An Ran was completely unworried about it. So far, she deduced that the reason Ji Nan Feng was so nonchalant towards her was because of his amnesia. The lost memories would eventually be remembered hence, she did not fret over that. In fact, she felt that everything she did thus far was a wise move.  After one lived a lifetime and was reborn. To them, Duan An Ran’s IQ felt like it got kicked by a donkey, impossibly stupid.

I realized that in chapter 9, Mo Li Xin’s brother was called Mo Shi Bai, but in this chapter, he was called Mo Li Chen. To keep consistency, I decided to stick with the first name given. Same thing happened with where Ji Nan Feng worked at, I think Author-sama mixed up the locations … Or maybe Author-sama forgot…

I want to smack Duan An Ran so badly!
