Mother of a Villainess

Extra 25 – [If Story] Epilogue

◆◆◆◆

The morning sun peeked into the gaps between the curtains.

The light just hit his face, and because of that, Theophyl opened his eyes.

It seems that he was asleep before he knew it.

“—-I…”

His wife, Violet, had done a lot of sins.

And his daughter Verbena had done numerous bad things in order to protect her position as the Prince’s fiance.

They had been judged by Albert who was the King, however, because of her status, taking the extenuating circumstances into consideration, she was not sent to prison. After the divorce, together with her daughter, she was sent to the rural area and placed under house arrest.

And her daughter, Verbena, who supported Violet next to her, never looked at Theophyl, lowered her head as the two of them walked towards the carriage.

“I… I… What have I done…”

He intended to maintain his pure love for Anna.

However, eventually, he was not able to make her his official wife, and she lived in social outcast as she was being talked from her back before finally died from a disease.

The hair ornaments, ribbons, and the other things he gave her would never see the sunlight ever again.

After having a child with Violet from the unwanted marriage, he thought that his role as an aristocrat was done, so he no longer looked after his wife and daughter anymore.

At the same time as Anna’s death, Violet’s father, Brium, also died from an illness.

At that timing, he welcomed Annabel officially as the daughter of the Duke Family, and the conflict with his wife was increasing though he didn’t pay attention to it.

He knew that Violet’s love was devoted to him ever since they were little.

He also knew that she had been disposing of those who were getting closer to him.

—I didn’t confront the problem.

He acted as he didn’t see it and stayed away from it.

Even after the marriage had been settled, he didn’t talk to her more than necessary.

He knew that she was a victim as well, but he still didn’t do anything besides despising Violet for hurting Anna.

In the end, he couldn’t give anyone happiness.

Nor Violet, nor Anna.

And the cause of it was his weakness. However, he didn’t want to face it. Not towards himself, not towards his parents, not towards her.

So he chose the most comfortable way—he ran away to Anna who also held unlucky circumstances.

At first, he didn’t know whether it was love or pity, and now he couldn’t even distinguish those two.

He believed that it was love, but as now there was no one around him, he didn’t know anymore.

“I couldn’t make it up anymore…”

That was the only thing he knew.

His head was throbbing.

As he held his head, he looked down from the window. The garden that was poorly maintained looked like everything inside it withered.

The head of the Duke Family, Theophyl, and maybe his wife, Violet, as well, up until now, they had never cared about the state of the garden. They never instructed anyone, and a lot of employees quit because they couldn’t handle Violet’s tantrum, so the change of employees was frequent and their quality was low.

(Maybe that dream… is my ideal…)

He had a dream.

In the garden of the Duke Mansion filled with blooming flowers.

There were Theophyl and Violet, Albert and Anna, and also Lily and Sieg.

From the appearance, it was the time when they were still students, and together they had a tea party.

It was filled with smiles and laughter. Such a happy scene was happening there.

It was far away from reality.

And it was every day that would never come back.

Theophyl stopped thinking and closed the curtain.

And he only stood there inside the dim room.

Later, Annabel became the Prince’s fiance and he was going to be the next queen.

There were some people who objected because of the problem that was caused by her half-sister and mother and the low status of her biological mother. But because it was wished by the prince himself, the conclusion had been made.

However, the father, Theophyl, started to stop coming into the social circles and occasionally drank with King Albert.

About what happened to Violet and Verbena, no one cared about it other than Theophyl and Albert.

But neither of them was able to help because of their position.

In the quiet room, the sound of the glass was put down echoing.

“… Where did it go wrong?”

No one knew who shed the tears.

—Thus, this story closed its curtain.

―――…………

……………

“Nnn…”

Something fluffy tickled his face.

Theophyl who was just waking up opened his eyes.

Immediately, he realized what had tickled him.

“…Lettie.”

Inside his arms, his loved one with violet hair was sleeping.

Her fluffy hair moved up and down a little, following her breath, and it occasionally touched Theophyl’s face.

“Nn… Theo…?”

Maybe because her name was called, Violet was slightly moved and then opened her eyes.

She was still not fully woken up and looking at that sleepy amber eyes, she looked more and more lovely.

“Good morning, Lettie. It seems that the two of us slept soundly.”

“Hoam… Yes… It’s already this bright…”

“Are you going to sleep a little more?”

“Un…”

Curling up like a cat, Violet rubbed her cheeks against Theophyl’s chest.

He bet she was still unconscious.

And he decided to let her sleep a little bit more.

As he thought about it and patted the head of his loved one, it seems that the corridor was noisy.

The sound of light steps and the voice of flustered adults were heard.

And the sounds were approaching the room.

“… Li-little Master, you can’t!”

A woman’s scream and the sound of the door opened were heard almost at the same time.

And then, the fluffy brown hair inherited from Theophyl was seen.

“Father, Mother! It’s nice weather today!”

The door should have been locked, and the one who invaded was the eldest son, Noah. Behind him, there was the figure of his elder sister, Verbena.

“Aa, good morning. You two are early.”

“Father and Mother are the ones who are late. Ne, isn’t it amazing? I improved so much in picking the lock that Ane-sama taught me!”

As the two of them made proud faces, they looked at their Father, Theophyl. Looking at their figures, Theophyl smiled bitterly.

(… So this is what my father-in-law means.)

“—Don’t forget to lock the bedroom with three locks. Of course, it must be internal locks.”

Before their marriage, his father-in-law, Brium, said so as to take measures against the kids’ mischief. At first, he didn’t understand what he meant, but now he knew.

“… Both of you, it seems that Lettie is still sleepy. Can the two of you lower your voice?”

Even inside such a noisy situation, she still closed her eyes tightly and her soft breath was heard.

Theophyl gently got off from the bed as he tried to not wake her up. He brought his index finger in front of his lips as he headed towards the kids.

The children who understood their father’s signal hurriedly put their little hands on their mouths.

“After I changed my clothes, let’s take a walk in the garden together. The flowers both of you planted will bloom soon.”

“Waa! Let’s go!”

“Noah, shhh…”

He watched the two little backs as they couldn’t wait and ran out.

The maid that couldn’t stop those two made a blue face and lowered her head to Theophyl before chasing on the children once more.

“… Sleep tight, Lettie. I hope you have a good dream.”

He got near the sleeping figure and kissed the white forehead.

He felt that he was having a bad dream just now, but all of it was gone from his head.

Theophyl quietly closed the door and left the room.

After he quickly got changed, he reached the butler.

Made sure to put three locks for the bedroom.

After he said so, he left the butler, who nodded but confused, and then proceeded to where the children were.

In the greenhouse located inside the Duke House’s garden, the violets they planted were going to bloom soon.

The children who reached there first found Theophyl were heading there and showed their bright smiles. And Theophyl who watched those figures made a big smile as well.

——If Story, End.

After reading Theo’s POV on their first timeline, I really don’t like the result of the second timeline.I should pity Anna, but his POV make me don’t like her instead. He is a douchebag and in my opinion, he doesn’t deserve the happiness in second timeline. Felt too forced
