CHAPTER 70 PART 2
Jian Ning nodded shyly.
After a moment of silence, Jenny said dreamily, “I didn’t expect the Marshal to already have a child…”
Terry murmured, “And he’s in the same dorm as me…”
“I kept it from you for so long. Are we still good friends?” Jian Ning blinked, looking at them expectantly.
“Of course,” Terry nodded without hesitation. Jenny, remembering, quickly handed Jian Ning the hand-grabbed pancake. “I bought one for you too, with your favorite sweet and spicy sauce.”
“Thank you.” Jian Ning’s eyes curved into a smile as he took it.
At the First Corps Military Headquarters, as soon as Zong Ye entered his office, the adjutant entered with documents and closed the door.

At five in the afternoon, Zong Ye looked up from the pile of documents, glanced at the time, and got up to leave.
“Marshal, there are still these…” The adjutant entered with another stack of documents, but Zong Ye interrupted him. “I’m leaving. We’ll talk tomorrow.”
He brushed past him and entered the elevator.
The adjutant stared at the slowly closing elevator doors. What urgent matter could make the Marshal leave so early?
Jian Ning was in Professor Moore’s lab when he received Zong Ye’s message. Today’s task was to transplant a batch of sprouted seedlings into pots. The seedlings were fragile, and the transplantation process required extreme care to prevent them from dying. Jian Ning replied to Zong Ye’s message and focused on the task at hand.
By the time he finished transplanting the ten seedlings, it was already dark outside. Jian Ning tidied up the lab and hurried downstairs. Opening the door, he shivered. It had started raining at some point, and the cold drizzle seeped into his collar.
Jian Ning hugged himself and rubbed his arms. Because of the rain, there was no one at the entrance. A hovercar was parked under a distant streetlight, its window halfway down, a cigarette ember flickering inside.
He recognized it as Zong Ye’s car. Having left in a hurry, he had forgotten his jacket. Thinking that Zong Ye must have been waiting for a while, he hugged himself, ready to dash through the rain, when the ember inside the car disappeared, the door opened, and Zong Ye stepped out, tossing the cigarette butt into a nearby trash can. He opened an umbrella and strode towards him.
Reaching the covered walkway, Zong Ye closed the umbrella and draped his jacket over Jian Ning’s head. “Where’s your jacket?”
Jian Ning’s vision went dark, engulfed by the warm jacket carrying Zong Ye’s scent and a faint smell of smoke. He struggled to poke his head out as he replied, his voice muffled, “I forgot it upstairs.”
Zong Ye straightened his jacket, reopened the umbrella, and put his arm around Jian Ning, leading him towards the hovercar.
Inside the villa, Butler Abel had already instructed the servants to prepare dinner. After dinner, they sat on the sofa for a while before Dr. Wilson arrived. Jian Ning and Zong Ye went upstairs and, as they had done the day before, used their mental energy to help merge Zong Ye’s two personalities.
This time the session was longer; twenty minutes later, Dr. Wilson signaled Jian Ning to stop. When Zong Ye opened his eyes, Dr. Wilson asked, “What did you remember this time? Can you tell us?”
Zong Ye’s gaze swept over Dr. Wilson and Jian Ning, who was looking at him expectantly. He swallowed. “No.”
“…” Dr. Wilson was speechless. Seeing that his mental energy was indeed more stable than before, he gave up and went downstairs.
Jian Ning also dejectedly withdrew his expectant gaze. Zong Ye hadn’t told him what he remembered before, and now he wouldn’t say again. He was really curious, what was so unspeakable?
After Dr. Wilson left, Jian Ning was about to return to the academy. Reaching the door, a gust of cold wind made him sneeze.
“Young Master Jian, do you have a fever?” Butler Abel, noticing his flushed face, touched his forehead. It was indeed a little hot.
“Come in quickly. Don’t go back to the academy tonight. Let Young Master take you back tomorrow.” Butler Abel pulled him into the living room and asked a servant to fetch fever medication.
Jian Ning touched his forehead. He didn’t feel it himself, but his throat was a little sore.
After taking the medicine, Butler Abel had him go upstairs to rest. Tuan Tuan trotted after him. Jian Ning gave him a bath, dried his fur, and said, “I’m sick, it might be contagious. You can’t sleep with me tonight.”
Tuan Tuan, lying on his lap, widened his eyes and shook his head. He wasn’t afraid; he wanted to sleep with his dad.
“It really won’t do tonight. Choose, sleep by yourself or with Grandpa Abel.” Jian Ning squeezed his paw, his expression serious.
Tuan Tuan hugged his finger, whimpering and wagging his tail, refusing to choose. He just wanted to sleep with his dad.
“If you don’t choose, you’ll sleep with me,” Zong Ye said expressionlessly, opening the door and entering.
Hearing his voice, Tuan Tuan stood up from Jian Ning’s lap, arched his back, glared at Zong Ye, and bared his teeth angrily. Hmph, I don’t want to sleep with you.
Zong Ye strode over and lifted the little guy by the scruff of his neck, completely ignoring his struggling and threatening gestures.
“I’ll take him. You get some rest.” Zong Ye lifted Tuan Tuan and left, closing the door behind him.
Entering his room, Zong Ye put Tuan Tuan on the bed. Tuan Tuan immediately scrambled up and angrily tried to jump off. Zong Ye crossed his arms. “If you dare disturb your dad’s rest, I’ll send you to the military’s cub academy tomorrow.”
Tuan Tuan glared at him angrily. What’s a cub academy?
Zong Ye explained, “The cub academy is a place that specifically disciplines cubs like you. Once you’re in, you can only come back on weekends, you have to wake up early for training every day, and the instructors punish disobedient children.”
Exaggerating the cub academy and hearing Tuan Tuan’s angry whimpers as if he wanted to complain, Zong Ye said calmly, “Complaining won’t work. Other cubs your age can already hunt and shift into human form. You, all you do is chase butterflies. You can’t even shift. You’re an embarrassment to the Zong family. Your dad would agree with me.”
Tuan Tuan was furious. Bad guy, bad guy, big bad guy! He angrily burrowed into the blankets, turning his back to Zong Ye, refusing to acknowledge him.
“Stay in bed and don’t cause trouble.” Zong Ye took his pajamas and went to the bathroom to shower. After showering and drying his hair, he went to check on Jian Ning in the opposite room. Jian Ning was already asleep. Zong Ye quietly walked to the bedside in the dim light of the corridor, tucked him in, and left, closing the door.
Tuan Tuan, reluctantly asleep in Zong Ye’s bed, woke up in the middle of the night needing to pee. He rubbed his face with his paws and wobbled out from under the covers. He was about to wake the person next to him, as usual, to take him to pee, but then he remembered it was the big white wolf. His eyes darted around, and he had another idea.
Zong Ye remembered Jian Ning’s instructions to take Tuan Tuan to pee in the middle of the night. He woke up in the darkness, checked the time on his communicator, and reached to his right to feel for the little guy, but he only felt wetness.
Fully awake now, Zong Ye turned on the light and lifted the covers. Beside him was a large wet patch, clearly where the little guy had peed on his bed.
