Essential Accomplishments of A Perfect White Moonlight (Quick Transmigration)

Chapter 6 [TCFCPC 6]

With Jian Yu’er barricaded outside, Yan Yi Ming and Little Apple discussed their strategy to capture Nangong Xuan.

The only difference between the game and their current situation was that in the game, the player needed to enter the game daily to increase their progression in the chosen route. On the other hand, for their current situation, the route progression was determined by increasing the male protagonists’ favorability gauge towards Yan Yi Ming.

Back then, Young Lady Yan was completely devoted to Nangong Xuan. Yet, it seemed that even just wholeheartedly loving him was wrong as he gradually went from treating her in an amicable manner to giving her a cold shoulder at the very end.

If it was not for the fact that the lowest favorability one could achieve for a character card was 0%, Nangong Xuan’s favorability of Yan Yi Ming would probably have reached the negatives.

Little Apple was a little startled, “The current favorability gauge is at 60%, that’s so high! Does he really not like her?”

“Young Lady Yan is so beautiful and loves him wholeheartedly. Since Nangong Xuan had never outrightly rejected her in all these years, it goes to show that he still has a good impression of her. Though I must admit, it’s higher than I’ve imagined,” Yan Yi Ming said, “But what’s the use now? Jian Yu’er has already appeared, so Nangong Xuan’s attention will be completely shifted towards her.”

Nangong Xuan was not afraid to lose her. Something that was easily gotten would rarely be appreciated.

Yan Yi Ming gently slid a delicate jade-colored hairpin into her hair. Analyzing the face that she took many hours to shape in the mirror, she nodded in satisfaction, “Sure enough, having a well-made appearance is much better than depending on some miracle to occur. Oh yes, did Nangong Xuan’s character statistics increase?”

Yan Yi Ming was unwilling to divulge what had happened between the two. With her being so headstrong and Madame Yan unable to pry the information from her daughter, she exploded and reprimanded her, “Wicked creature! How can you be so unsophisticated at your age?! You should learn from Young Lady Jian’s example.”

Standing behind Yan Yi Ming, Lu Mei held back her emotions until her eyes became red-rimmed. She did not understand why her mistress had to bear this grievance. As they were stepping out of the courtyard, they encountered Young Master Yan, who had just returned from the outside. He was Yan Yi Ming’s younger twin brother.

Young Master Yan had also been gloomy these few days because of Yan Yi Ming’s conflict with Jian Yu’er. Because Young Lady Jian had been coming to Duke Ding’s Manor every day, those who paid attention would notice how she was always left without having met Yan Yi Ming. Not long after, rumors started flying about how Young Lady Yan was being extremely unreasonable and how only Young Lady Jian, who was a good-tempered person, would stand to hang out with someone that always bullied her.

Upon hearing such rumors, Young Master Yan nearly destroyed the establishment and when he reached home, he could not hold himself back as he confronted his sister, “Did the one surnamed Jian bully you?!”

Yan Yi Ming was momentarily stunned. When she regained her senses, she chuckled and reached out to pinch the youngster’s face that had recently shed the remaining baby fat. “Little kid shouldn’t worry too much. Who would dare bully me? Where did you go to play today?”

Young Master Yan replied in a stifled voice that he had just come back from the fifth prince’s residence. Yan Yi Ming’s gaze flickered ever so slightly. Then she casually stated, “It’s been a while since I’ve last seen His Highness.”

Young Master Yan did not catch on to what his sister meant. He just felt that his sister had always feared nothing in Heaven or Earth, but at present, she was acting unlike her usual self. Because Yan Yi Ming was unwilling to share with him, he was so frustrated that he spun three rounds on the spot before finding his best friend, the Fifth Prince.

Because Young Master Yan was the Fifth Prince’s study companion from back when they were younger, they had practically been joined at the hips. There was also another reason that few were privy to, and it was that this prince, who was slightly younger than Young Master Yan, had taken a shine to Young Lady Yan, who had adamantly stated that she wanted to marry his imperial brother.

With a close friend that had constantly chattered about how amazing his sister was, Fifth Prince, Nangong Ye, had inevitably formed a good impression of Yan Yi Ming. In addition, after they finally met, her beautiful visage and flamboyant personality had him hooked, and thus, she was engraved deep in his heart.

Although Young Lady Yan was known to be very unreasonable, she was very protective of her family. Since the Fifth Prince was the Crown Prince’s younger brother and her brother’s best friend, Yan Yi Ming had treated him amicably.

It was no wonder that the Fifth Prince fell irrevocably in love with her.

Unfortunately, before this little sprout had fully matured, Yan Yi Ming had announced to the world that she would marry the Crown Prince and no other. Although his imperial brother did not verbally agree to marry Yan Yi Ming, he also did not state that he would marry another. Considering Yan Yi Ming’s beauty and background, he felt that there was a high probability that she would marry into the Eastern Palace and become his sister-in-law. This notion had caused his heart to be stricken.

In the end, the dim-witted Young Master Yan did not catch onto his good friend’s broken heart and continued prattling about his amazing sister. As time passed, Yan Yi Ming grew more stunningly. Thus, not only was the Fifth Prince unable to suffocate his budding affections, it seemed to have grown even more with time.

One time, the young prince was unable to conceal his emotions properly and accidentally revealed his true feelings to Yan Yi Ming.

Although Yan Yi Ming did not expose him, he could feel that she had started avoiding him. Nangong Ye didn’t want to make things awkward for Yan Yi Ming, so the only thing he could do was stay alone in his residence and sulk.

That was until Young Master Yan stomped back into his manor, not long after his initial departure, poured himself a cup of tea, and angrily gulped the whole thing down. He was so aggrieved that he blurted everything about Yan Yi Ming’s recent abnormalities to Nangong Ye. He even brought up Yan Yi Ming’s question about why Nangong Ye had recently not been to Duke Ding’s residence to play.

Upon hearing this, Nangong Ye’s child-like face which bore resemblance to Nangong Xuan’s suddenly lit up. His eyes curved into crescent moons. He hopped up from the couch, straightened his attire, and cheerfully informed his friend, “Since that’s the case, then I’ll go visit Yan Jie-jie today.”

Young Master Yan naturally had no objections. He had hoped to gather more people to help cheer his sister up.

And currently, in Duke Ding’s manor, Yan Yi Ming had feigned sickness for the past three days. On top of that, in those three days, Jian Yu’er went every day in hopes of meeting Yan Yi Ming but never got to see her.

Since their current progression had already deviated from the original game setting, Little Apple asked Yan Yi Ming with a hint of uncertainty, “what if Jian Yu’er chose not to come today?”

“That’s impossible,” Yan Yi Ming lightly waved the small fan in her hand. Sitting on a small stone bench just beside the rockery, she added, “others might no longer come, but she definitely will. The pure and kind female protagonist has yet to meet me, so how could she give up?”

As soon as she finished her sentence, Lu Mei trotted over from one side and informed Yan Yi Ming in excitement, “My Lady, Jian Yu’er is here again! Do you want me to send her away?”

This little girl had completely hated Jian Yu’er to the point that she would not address the latter formally. Yan Yi Ming could not help but lecture her, “it’s fine for you to address her like this in front of me, but don’t do it in front of others or there will be consequences. Go and invite Young Lady Jian in.”

Lu Mei exclaimed in disbelief, “But My Lady!”

“The weather today is pleasant enough to invite Young Lady Jian to share a cup of tea,” Yan Yi Ming signaled Lu Mei not to talk too much and just invite the person in.

Agitated, Lu Mei went out. Yan Yi Ming took the time to straighten her hair and asked Little Apple, “Does my hair look messy?”

“Nope,” Little Apple replied immediately. However, he wondered why did her hairstyle have anything to do with a meeting with Jian Yu’er.

Without explaining herself, Yan Yi Ming just gave a smile.

After making three fruitless trips, Jian Yu’er was finally given the chance to see Yan Yi Ming. Delight colored her charming face as she warmly asked the maidservant to lead the way. She fidgety made her way in front of Yan Yi ming and warily called out ‘Yan Jie-jie’.

Yan Yi Ming raised her eyes and studied Jian Yu’er As her eyes fell on the carved-out beaded hairpin resting in Jian Yu’er’s hair, she replied with a faint smile, “I dare not be.”

Jian Yu’er suddenly became uneasy, and the area circling her eyes once again turned red in an instant.

Yan Yi Ming just gently waved the small golden fan in her hand. She calmly, with no sadness or joy reflected on her face, said, “Young Lady Jian has been trying to seek me out for the past three days. And yet, when you finally stand in front of me, you don’t even utter a single word. If there’s nothing else, please go back.”

“I do!” Jian Yu’er hurriedly blurted out. However, her words faltered as they reached her mouth.

Yan Yi Ming snapped the small fan shut. She reached out to Lu Mei to receive the pot of tea and personally poured Jian Yu’er a cup. She gestured to it as she slowly said, “If you’ve come to apologize then there’s no need. You have done nothing wrong by me and I’ve not blamed you as well.”

On the walk over, Jian Yu’er had been apprehensive of Yan Yi Ming’s anger. But now, she found it harder to communicate with this version of Yan Yi Ming. She fidgeted and intertwined her hands as she guiltily mumbled, “Then why have you been avoiding me?…”

“I’ve been feeling under the weather,” Yan Yi Ming said, “and most importantly, it’s because I also don’t want to see you.”

Jian Yu’er’s face turned pale.

“I don’t want to meet the person who stole away the person I like. Especially when that person was said to be my good sister.” Yan Yi Ming placed down the small fan and enunciated each word slowly, “I wanted to save you from the embarrassment but you wanted me to state it so candidly. So have I made the reason clear enough for you?”

Jian Yu’er had long known of Yan Yi Ming’s ability to choke people with plain words and this time around, she had no explanation to defend herself. She could only continuously reassure Yan Yi Ming, “His Highness has never said that he likes me. We… there’s no romantic relationship between us…”

“Oh, is that so?” Yan Yi Ming looked up at her and smiled, “So, you don’t like him?”

Jian Yu’er was once again rendered speechless.

Jian Yu’er did not know how to lie. She never had the intention of stealing anything from Yan Yi Ming. But she also knew that she did not make a conscious effort to avoid the situation due to Yan Yi Ming’s association. Finally seeing the whole picture clearly, she came to realize that from the moment she liked Nangong Xuan, her friendship with Yan Yi Ming had completely ended.

She hesitated for a long time before she finally summoned up her courage to say, “I know that Yan Jie-jie likes His Highness. I promise never to see His Highness again-”

“There’s no need.” Yan Yi Ming interrupted Jian Yu’er’s mid-sentence.

‘Nangong Xuan is one of the male protagonists. In the future, what occurs between you two will be so much more intimate than this time around. To be saying such words is simply slapping oneself on the face. Besides, …’ Yan Yi Ming took a quick peep in the direction of the rockery from the corner of her eye.

She unhurriedly replied, “Since he doesn’t like me, then just forget it. I, Yan Yi Ming, haven’t fallen to the point that I need others to yield to me.”

Jian Yu’er knew that she had once more said something wrong. She panicked as she did not know what to do.

On the other hand, Young Master Yan, who was currently hiding behind the rockery nearly shouted out in agitation. Fortunately, before any sound came out of his mouth, he was pulled back by the Fifth Prince and they remain rooted to continue eavesdropping on the conversation.

Yan Yi Ming took a small sip of her tea before she calmly said, “What needs to be said has been said that day. There’s nothing between His Highness and me, so whoever His Highness chose to be with, has nothing to do with me. It’s not like I desperately need to have him as well. If you’re worried that I would speak of that day’s matter to others and ruin your reputation then you can be at ease. I have not reached that low a point to do such a thing.”

What needed to be said had already been spoken of by Yan Yi Ming and Jian Yu’er was unable to utter a single word. As Yan Yi Ming finished her cup of tea, she gave the instruction to have the guest brought away. “If Young Lady Jian has nothing else to say, then you should return as it’s already getting late.”

Jian Yu’er stood up stiffly and reluctantly turned to leave. The pearl hairpin in her hair quivered with her actions and it caught Yan Yi Ming’s eyes. Staring at the accessory, Yan Yi Ming suddenly commented, “Your hairpin is very exquisite.”

Originally, Jian Yu’er did not understand what Yan Yi Ming was driving at. Until she suddenly recalled the origins of this hairpin. Her hands trembled and the need to explain once again resurfaced when she remembered what Yan Yi Ming had just told her. She then decided to just leave quietly.

Lu mei approached her mistress and complained in dissatisfaction, “My Lady, why did you let her off just like that?”

“If not?” Yan Yi Ming asked, “What else is there to say?”

“Why is there a need to keep this fact hidden and suffer this injustice yourself?” Lu Mei ranted angrily, “My Lady had treated her so well, and yet, she had backstabbed you by privately meeting the Crown Prince! This kind of people who say one thing but do another are truly loathsome!”

Yan Yi Ming sighed, “Speak no more of this.”

“But why?!”

“Did you notice the type of pearl that was on the hairpin that donned her hair?” Yan Yi Ming took a sip of her tea, “Did you know that tribute pearls from the South China Sea are deemed to be extremely precious and rare? And yet, those were the exact pearls that embellished Young Lady Jian’s hairpin.”

At this point, Yan Yi Ming paused before mockingly adding, “Whether Jian Yu’er had done it intentionally or not, it doesn’t change the fact that His Highness did casually dismiss me with some random pearl while giving her the South Sea’s tribute pearl. Who weighs more in His Highness’s heart is clear for all to see. So, what’s the point of making things difficult for her? Wouldn’t it just makes His Highness despise me more?”

As she finished explaining, she seemed to have noticed the shoes concealed behind the rockery. Skewing her expression and releasing another sigh, “Qi’er, are you going to continue hiding there?”

As soon as her words fell, Young Master Yan, who was unable to endure much longer, jumped out from behind the rockery. Closely following behind him was another person who wore a complicated expression.

Spotting the face that resembled Nangong Xuan’s, Yan Yi Ming was momentarily stunned. But she quickly regained her senses and right her expression. She smiled and bent her knees in salutation, “Greetings to Your Highness, Fifth Prince.”
