Dying In The Male Lead’s Arms Every Time I Transmigrate

Chapter 99 Immortality

This was not the first time Ning Meng had encountered a zombie.

When she was in Ning Ning’s body before, the one who used a painting to attempt taking Keke’s soul, also did it for the purpose of refining corpses, in which the end goal was to create a zombie.

The system had told her all about the process of forming zombies. It required a lot of procedures and was very troublesome, unable to be completed in a day or two.

And the one in front of them was actually Shi Qi’s father…

One could only imagine that the person behind this must have been planning for so many years, and she was merely an insignificant pawn in his plans, a corpse to be obtained in the other party’s eyes.

Ning Meng recalled the events that happened in the book. When she transmigrated, the author hadn’t finished writing the book, so she was only able to read until the latest update.

Strictly speaking, the Shi Qi in the book was only about twenty-five years old at the time. The author didn’t even mention that there was a big boss in the book, nor did she mention anything about him at all.

And now that Shi Qi was twenty-eight years old, three years past his age in the novel, she had no idea what was going to happen.

When Shi Qi looked down at her, seeing her taut little face full of worries and apprehensions for him, his mood suddenly improved a lot better.

He lowered his voice, “Be careful later on, don’t leave my side.”

Ning Meng nodded fiercely, “I will definitely do as you say, it’s best for you to be very careful yourself too.”

Ever since Cheng Xianwei and a few others laid eyes on the platform, they’ve been shaking non-stop, shrinking behind Shi Qi’s back.

Cheng Xianwei’s voice trembled as he asked, “Young Master Qi, are those dead or alive?”

In such a terrifying place, to be able to see many corpses was very terrifying. There was no doubt the murderer was going to come back here.

Shi Qi did not respond to his question.

Ning Meng stayed in place and watched him take a step forward. His figure revealed a tint of loneliness, causing a wave of worry to surge in her heart again.

She couldn’t help asking the system, “Is there anything you can do?”

After a long time, the system responded, “I guess I could tell you…I only have one ability, and that’s to teleport you to a safe place when you’re in danger.”

Take the three deaths she had before in her previous transmigrations as an example, this ability would help her avoid that situation.

The system did not give her the complete information of its ability. Because using this ability in this world was too unimaginable, the department decided to give it a limit which was that it could only be used thrice.

But it was still better than nothing.

Ning Meng asked, “Can you take someone with me?”

If she could take someone, by the time she got into danger, she could simply take Shi Qi away with her, this way, it would be much safer for her.

The system responded, “I can’t.”

Ning Meng put this thought to rest and focused her attention on the cave.

Seeing that she didn’t understand, the system began to explain to her, “The zombie we’re seeing this time is a bit more advanced than the last one. When these corpses died, they died with a grievance so their resentment is very strong. If you look at the black fog above, you can see that they’re very thick, they’re formed by a mixture of resentment and yin air gathering together.”

Ning Meng listened carefully.

The system earnestly exhorted, “In addition, because they were placed here for a long time, because of the Feng Shui and other reasons, the corpse’s poison is very heavy. You best be careful not to get scratched, otherwise you’ll become a zombie yourself.”

Ning Meng pointed to the blood drawings on the mountain wall, “What do those drawings mean?”

Very quickly, the system gave her an answer, “To gather Yin air and accelerate the refining of zombies. If we had come a few days late, they would have already turned into zombies.”

By then, it would be too late for anyone to stop them.

Shi Qi walked to the edge of the platform and fixed his eyes on it.

Ning Meng waited for a long time and wanted to go over, but was afraid she would become a burden, so she waited in place, telling Cheng Xinwei and the others not to move around carelessly.

This place was so weird, how could Cheng Xian dare to move? He just wanted to run away from this ghost place immediately and stay holed up in his own home.

At this moment, the person behind Cheng Xianwei froze abruptly, and reached out a finger quiveringly. “Just now…”

He stuttered in fear, “Just now, the corpse in the middle…seemed to have…moved!”

After hearing this, Cheng Xianwei immediately gave him a smack, “You motherf*cker, what are you saying!”

Was it really appropriate to say such things in this cave?

The man didn’t react at all to his slap. Instead, he looked at the platform in horror, his eyes wide, “It really…it really moved!”

The other person on the side finally couldn’t help but scream in fear. With a shriek, his eyes rolled up and he immediately lost consciousness, falling to the ground.

Seeing such an accident happen, before Ning Meng had time to look at the platform, the people behind had already started screaming in panic, running down to the entrance of the hole, and disappearing from sight in the blink of an eye.

Only Cheng Xianwei remained in the cave with the person who fainted on the ground, his legs were about to start trembling, and with a shaky voice, he asked, “Miss Ning, is…is something going to happen?”

Ning Meng replied crisply, “No.”

She believed in Shi Qi.

Cheng Xianwei promptly let out a sigh of relief. The cold sweat behind his back continued to trickle down, but he didn’t make a sound in fear of disturbing Shi Qi.

Ning Meng walked to the edge of the platform and stood beside Shi Qi.

Just now the man who had seen the corpse move all of a sudden, wasn’t lying. The corpse had indeed moved and it was the male corpse in the middle, Shi Shanxing’s corpse.

More specifically, his head moved a little.

Like a movie being played in slow motion, the four female corpses next to Shi Shanxing all moved slowly, slowly waking up.

Soon, they jumped straight off the platform.

They were all dressed loosely in ragged clothes, their faces rotten, and there was no expression on their faces, black air entwined all over their bodies.

Ning Meng was shocked, gasping for air.

Shi Qi urged her, “Go to the back and wait.”

Ning Meng didn’t want to be a burden and quickly ran to the back, but she didn’t expect a female corpse to follow her. Even though she was jumping, her speed was very quick.

During the stalemate, the system suddenly created a big pile of white glutinous rice mid-air, almost startling her, and it shouted, “Throw it above you! This is for dealing with the zombie!”

Ning Meng didn’t want to know where it came from but nevertheless, she listened to the system’s instructions. Upon grabbing hold of it, shen then threw it up, like a heavenly maid  throwing blossoms, and the air immediately became covered in glutinous rice.

After the white glutinous rice landed on the zombie’s body, the zombie’s body started emitting sizzling sounds, and the places where it made contact with the rice also started bubbling, holes forming on it quickly.

It was really effective.

Ning Meng was overjoyed, but her joy did not last long as she spotted another female zombie that was close to her, jump over. But before she could even move, the zombie fell straight down and remained motionless.

When she looked up again, she saw Shi Qi standing behind her with a cold face.

The presence of the surrounding zombies was no longer present so Ning Meng immediately asked, “Are you okay? Did those zombies hurt you?”

Shi Qi reached out a hand, and stroked her forehead, lifting her sweaty hair up. He gently said, “I’m fine.”

To him, this was not a problem.

He was merely wearing a shirt and standing there, yet in Ning Meng’s eyes, it looked as though he was shining, making her feel very relieved.

Cheng Xianwei walked over slowly from behind, “Young Master Qi, what are we going to do now that those zombies ran away?”

He had just seen a male corpse jump out, scaring him to hide in the corner, and not daring to make a sound for a long time, to the point that he had nearly suffocated himself to death.

Shi Qi said indifferently, “It’s alright.”

The zombification wasn’t really complete so they won’t be able to survive for long underneath the sun. Moreover, they were even injured.

If he were to deal with the corpse himself, it would be very difficult for him to do it, so it was better to let nature take its course. Shi Qi had also left something on him so when time came, he would also be able to feel it.

Ning Meng had been focused on fighting the female zombie awhile ago that she didn’t know of this incident. She didn’t know what to say so she kept silent.

Shi Qi stepped forward and moved his hands expressionlessly.

Cheng Xianwei and Ning Meng saw the female zombie lying on the ground lit up aflame, smoke emanating from her body, making her quickly melt into a pool of black water.

The system said, “It’s completely dead.”

Shi Qi turned around and said lightly, “Let’s go.”

The artificial transformation of yin air in the cave here will only waste time. Now that the bodies were gone and the souls had disappeared, the culprit himself would also soon vanish.

He looked at Cheng Xianwei, “Ask for someone to come here and pray for the peace of the souls in this place.”

Cheng Xianwei quickly responded, “Understood!”

Where would he find such a good master…all the ones he sought for before were all fake, not providing a single bit of use at all.

But if this would solve all the problems, he was willing to pay a lot of money to hire people.

As for the few people who ran out without authorization, Cheng Xianwei frowned, hoping that they would have good luck, it would be best if they didn’t get into any accidents.

When they finally left the cave, the air became fresher. Ning Meng greedily breathed in and out, looking at the sunlight falling on the trees and asking softly, “Regarding that man, what was his goal, refining so many corpses?”

Shi Qi sneered coldly, “He’s trying to imitate Emperor Shi.”

Ning Meng didn’t respond for a long time until the system reminded her that he was referring to Emperor Qin Shi. One of the incidents Emperor Qin Shi was known for was to find a immortality pill and Emperor Qin Shi’s mausoleum.

She couldn’t help cursing, “Is he mentally ill? Didn’t he read the original story before deciding to imitate Emperor Qin Shi? He must’ve read too many mythological stories.”

Up until now, the archaeological community hadn’t finished reading the imperial tombs, but this person already started imitating him regardless.

Shi Qi held her hand again and said faintly, “Immortality has always been a coveted wish for many people.”

After coming into contact with this industry, he was able to see the thoughts of people very clearly, and they would do anything to achieve their selfish goals.

“Since we destroyed his plan today, he’ll soon come knocking on our doors.” Shi Qi said, “We only need to go back and wait.”

Ning Meng was a little worried again, “Nothing’s…”

Before she could even finish her words, Shi Qi interrupted her, “No.”

I see.

Is the culprit the guy who sold the stuff that awakens Shi Qi’s eyes in ghost market? I remember it’s mentioned that he’s not a ghost but not quite human either and was someone who used the exchanging stuff to live longer.
