After Rebirth, I was Entangled by a Second Generation Rich Guy Again

Chapter 2

“Ning Ning, Ning Ning, wake up quickly. You’ll be scolded by the teacher for being late,” Grandma muttered.

Ji Anning was woken up by her grandmother’s shaking.

She didn’t need to set an alarm clock in the morning because her grandmother was her alarm clock. Although she had dementia, her schedule was very accurate. She woke up at six o’clock every morning, without looking at the clock, and shouted at Ji Anning to get up when it was time, as if her brain could sense the time automatically.

However, due to her dementia and memory loss, she always thought Ji Anning was still in middle school and would be scolded for being late.

Ji Anning rubbed her eyes and sat up from the bed, quickly getting dressed and washing up. Early in the morning, she went to the kitchen to prepare her grandmother’s meals for the day. Her grandmother had several illnesses that required strict dietary control, including oil, sugar, and salt. Ji Anning was the one who cooked her meals.

She packed her grandmother’s meals in two insulated lunch boxes and placed them on the table. She also boiled water and poured it into the thermos and cooled the boiled water.

Fortunately, although her memory was confused, she could still take care of herself and go to the bathroom. Otherwise, Ji Anning wouldn’t even be able to go to school.

Ji Anning dipped her steamed bun in fermented bean curd and quickly finished her breakfast. She put the dishes in the sink to wash later when she returned in the evening.

Her place was just across the street from the university campus.

This house was actually an old faculty building of the university with a long history. It was so old that it has become a dilapidated building. Originally, it was located in the campus, but with of decades of urban development and changes, the road was built later and cut through the middle, separating the faculty building area from the corner of the campus and turning it into the “outside” of the university.

Later, the university built new welfare housing, and many teachers moved there. Those who still lived here were either struggling in the university or young teachers who were newly arrived.

As a special-needs student with a difficult family situation, the university gave Ji Anning a small one-bedroom apartment which shows a great deal of compassion.

The apartment was only thirty square meters, but it had a kitchen and a bathroom, so it was complete despite its small size. Ji Anning felt grateful for this and bowed to the school leaders repeatedly.

Later, a photo of her and her apartment was published in the local newspaper. When classmates saw her, they would point her out to others and say, “Look, that’s the special-needs student.” Ji Anning didn’t care; there was nothing more important than having food to eat and a place to live.

After Ji Anning passed away and became a wandering spirit, she wasn’t sure how many years she had drifted in the mortal realm. At first, when people talked about her, she was very aware and drifted around listening. But as time went on and people stopped mentioning her, she began to fade into a half-conscious state. She only became more conscious when someone called her name. If no one called her, she gradually lost consciousness.

After her reincarnation, she quickly adapted to her daily routine. Student life was simple, with studying, eating, and sleeping every day at three. However, Ji Anning had more than other students; she had many part-time jobs to earn money. Although the school waived her tuition, she still needed money to support herself and her grandmother’s medical expenses.

When the final class of the day hadn’t ended yet, Ji Anning quietly slipped out the back door and ran to the cafeteria.

“Auntie, beef fried rice to go!”

“Braised chicken, dry-fried green beans, and a serving of rice to go!”

“Stir-fried rice noodles to go!”

“Shredded pork with green peppers to go!”

She arrived early, and there were few people in the cafeteria. She rushed back and forth between the different windows, helping her “customers” to order and pack their food. By the time the waves of students flooded into the cafeteria like zombies attacking a city, the dishes she ordered were basically ready.

Ji Anning took out two eco-friendly cloth bags used by market aunties to buy vegetables from her backpack, and put the meal boxes into them one by one. She carried one in each hand and ran against the flow of people towards the dormitory building.

The school does not allow delivery services into the campus, so those who order food have to go to the gate to pick it up. When Ji Anning entered the school, she posted an advertisement on the school forum offering to buy food for the female dormitory, charging only a few yuan per order. Some students were happy to avoid the crowded cafeteria and enjoy their meals comfortably in their dormitories.

In this society, there are always people willing to pay for services. Ji Anning continued to do this job until she died, having gained several long-term customers.

With thin arms and legs, she had to climb stairs while carrying two large bags of “takeaways”, delivering the meals to her customers’ bedsides from floor to floor. Although she was sweating profusely, she managed to earn her and her grandmother’s daily food by doing this job.

When she returned to the cafeteria, the peak hours were over, and the large waves of zombies had dispersed. The cafeteria was now half empty, with people mostly sitting and chatting or having a drink after their meals.

Ji Anning went to a window and said, “A spinach and egg dish, please, auntie.”

The auntie picked her teeth and asked, “Anything else?”

“No, just this,” Ji Anning replied.

The auntie bit her toothpick and glanced at her. She thought to herself that this girl had fair skin, a pointed chin, and sunken eye sockets, and that she looked like a ghostly skeleton. Look at those protruding collarbones.

The auntie grumbled as she served the dish, “You girls don’t know any better, always on a diet. What’s the point of being a skin-and-bones like that? Let me tell you, girls who are plump are blessed.”

Ji Anning was not on a diet; she was trying to save money.

It was only mid-September, and this auntie was not yet familiar with her. However, as a reincarnated person, she knew this auntie well.

“Thank you, Auntie Li,” she said sweetly. “Can I have some more eggs, please?”

Most of the students had finished eating, and there were not many people left.

Auntie Li was surprised that this stranger knew her surname. However, as she was wearing a name tag, it was not unusual. She glanced at Ji Anning and complained, but she added more eggs to Ji Anning’s dish.

The food at this window was cheaper, and in her previous life, Ji Anning often came here to buy her meals. At first, Auntie Li thought she was one of those girls who cared more about their looks than their nutrition, but she later found out that Ji Anning was a student in financial difficulty, only buying cheap vegetables. So every time she served her, Auntie Li would add an extra half-spoon of food to her plate.

When Ji Anning’s soul was wandering, Auntie Li called her out once. In the kitchen of the cafeteria, a group of people preparing lunch were gossiping about the pink news of the girl who fell to her death outside the school.

Floating in the air, she heard Aunt Li yelling at the kitchen helper, “I don’t believe it! Xiao Ji is not that kind of child! Stop talking nonsense!”

Ji Anning looked at the green and yellow food on her tray, gave Aunt Li a sweet smile, and turned to find a table.

Aunt Li leaned against the window and continued picking her teeth.

The young helper approached and said, “Is she a new freshman this year? She’s really pretty!”

Aunt Li held the toothpick and sneered, “She’s so skinny she’s like a ghost! Women should have some meat on their bones.”

The young man took a quick glance at Aunt Li’s thick waist and found it quite repulsive. He hurriedly looked out the window to catch another glimpse of the beautiful girl from before, and clean his eyes.

“Huh?” he exclaimed in surprise, “Is she… a poor student?”

Aunt Li also looked over and saw the thin, pale girl putting down her tray and taking a bowl to the free porridge station.

She paused for a moment. Although the free porridge was said to be for all students, it was actually intended to help the poor.

“I thought her clothes were just fashionably old, but they’re actually…” she murmured.

She understood why the girl only wanted a spinach and egg dish.

Ji Anning has a deep respect for the leaders of their school.

Of course, the free porridge and special treatment for extremely poor students will be publicized in the newspapers to increase the school’s reputation. But it wasn’t just for show; the leaders’ conscience was reflected in the thickness of the free porridge.

The porridge at their school is particularly thick and can be eaten as a meal, which can make you full.

That’s what you call a conscience.

Ji Anning bent over to pick up a spoon and prepare to serve the porridge.

Just then, a used tissue flew over and fell into the porridge with a snap. The porridge was too thick and the tissue did not immediately get soaked, staying on the surface of the porridge.

Ji Anning widened her eyes, and a flash of light went through her mind.

He’s coming!

The human brain is not like a computer, with files listed clearly and searchable by directories. Memories are stored in the brain, and unless you specifically think or ponder about them, they often do not come to mind. You need to get to that moment, see that person, or get that information for related memories to be triggered.

Ji Anning has been adjusting for the past few days since her rebirth.

For her, after rebirth, there are only two people she cares about: her grandmother and…

She hasn’t decided yet whether to go find that person or how to face him.

The school is big, and she might not be able to meet him in the school. She originally planned to wait a little longer, to think things through, before going to see him.

But now, this wad of tissue that fell into the porridge reminded her that Wen Yu’s harassment and entanglement with her began at the edge of this porridge bucket!

Sure enough, laughter and noise came from behind her: “Oops, I threw it in the porridge. Sorry, sorry.”

Ji Anning didn’t turn around. She remembered that Wen Yu always had a group of people around him at school.

Wherever he went, he was surrounded by people.

Ji Anning just stared at that wad of tissue.

She reached out and twisted the tissue out of the porridge, threw it in the nearby trash can, skillfully circled the porridge spoon, scooped out the contaminated part of the porridge, poured it into the trash can, then filled a bowl of porridge from a slightly safer area and turned to walk back to her seat.

The group of boys who were just laughing and joking quieted down.

Ji Anning knew they were staring at her. In their eyes, the porridge was already a “waste,” and it couldn’t be eaten anymore. What she did might seem unbelievable to them.

But it’s better than going hungry or spending more money on food.

And in her past life, Wen Yu suddenly appeared and talked to her when she was staring blankly at the tissue in the porridge bucket and didn’t know what to do.

But in this life, although Ji Anning reacted completely differently, the bowl of porridge still didn’t make it to the table – a hand reached out diagonally and grabbed her wrist.

“Classmate, this porridge can’t be eaten anymore.” A deep male voice said.

Ji Anning turned her head and ran into a pair of pitch-black eyes.

When those eyes were killing people, they were black as ink, making people dread.

But in Ji Anning’s previous memories, those eyes were always lewd and presumptuous, chasing after her relentlessly.

At that time, Ji Anning was distressed by Wen Yu’s entanglement, and she was tired of him in her heart. The filter that she gave him in her memories was bound to be unflattering.

However, at this moment, Ji Anning turned her head and saw that in Wen Yu’s pair of eyes, there were sparkling stars and burning flames.

He stared at her, his eyes showing obvious amazement and aggressive desire.

Ji Anning was in a daze. So, at this moment, did his gaze upon her really burn with such intense heat?

Sansukini: Can I just say, you’ll love and hate the ML. In the first place, it was love at first sight for him, but on the other hand, he was so aggressive in his pursuit because she kept rejecting him and he was used to getting what he wants. But in the end, he sacrificed his life to avenge her. She was reborn and so she’ll be able to change her attitude towards him and try to protect them both from getting the bad ending. This story has a happy ending, btw. I really don’t like BE. And in my previous blog, this novel had a surprisingly high number of views.

It’s very confusing to read from your blog as none of the novel titles show up just chapter numbers.

If there was only one translation in the works, this wouldn’t be an issue. With multiple ongoing projects, though, it’s difficult.

The backstory is tragic but this life is not. That’s why I wasn’t very sure about tagging it as Tragedy, because for me a tragedy should have a tragic ending, but this one is very sweet.

I don’t like BEs either – looking forward to seeing how she can change their fate! Thanks for the translation!

Well, it was mentioned as ” tragic past “, so I guess after 1st chapter, there won’t be any tragic events. ML seems a bit rude and aggressive, but let’s see if there’s any character development for him, then I’ll wait ✋️ 😉
