After Being Turned Into a Dog, I Conned My Way Into Freeloading At My Rival’s Place

Chapter 42: A Touch of Red Everywhere

Ever since the meeting at Riverside, Lin Rong could feel that he was getting closer and closer to the real Yanyan.

The real Yanyan is goofy and often has impulsive little tricks up his sleeve. The way he tries hard to hold it back but can’t is very cute.

Yanyan is also proud and often says things he doesn’t mean. The time Yanyan took the initiative and kissed him during the pre-wedding bash would probably only happen again if Yanyan got drunk.

So Lin Rong never thought that the door would open to the young man giving him a bear hug and snuggles.

While he was surprised, his heart also softened.

“Yanyan,” he called out hoarsely. He gave Ning Yan a hug and lowered his head.

Actually, Ning Yan had been a bit nervous when he threw himself forwards. He had been afraid he’d moved too fast, but he hadn’t been able to resist. They’ve already kissed, what’s so scary about a hug!

Ning Yan’s dewy eyes revealed that he was slightly self-conscious.

This atmosphere was too sweet and too intimate. He thought it was a bit dangerous but he also didn’t want to interrupt it.

Lin Rong looked at him with a different kind of intensity than his normal gaze. Ning Yan instinctively understood what the man wanted to do and was so embarrassed he wanted to cover his face. But in the end, Lin Rong resisted and looked at Ning Yan quietly for a moment before getting closer and gently kissing him. Then he stood up and put the cake on the table. He coughed lightly and asked huskily, “Where should I put the flowers?”

Ning Yan’s mind cleared. He jumped up and grabbed the flowers, saying with embarrassment, “I’ll do it!”

Lin Rong smiled and asked, “Did you eat dinner yet?”

“Not yet, you?” Ning Yan hurriedly asked, “Why don’t I get takeout?”

“Do you have things in your fridge?”

“Yes, you… want to cook for me?” Satisfaction welled up in Ning Yan’s heart.

Though he’d eaten Lin Rong’s cooking many times as a demon and recently Lin Rong had started to feed him all sorts of delicious dishes, it still felt different to be on the receiving end of such care as a human.

“Yeah.” Lin Rong smiled.

Immediately after, he saw the young man happily turn around and skip into his room like a child.

Lin Rong laughed quietly.

There was a vase on the windowsill in Ning Yan’s room. It had sat empty for so long and now it could finally be put to use.

He was about to unpack the flowers and put them in the vase. Then he thought about it and took out his phone. He took a couple of selfies of himself holding the flowers. Only after he was satisfied did he carefully take out the roses and put them into the vase.

The vase became too full; after all, the bouquet of flowers was too big. Ning Yan thought about it and started searching all over his home. Whenever he saw an empty bottle or empty cup, he’d put some flowers in it. After Lin Rong finished in the kitchen, he saw with surprise that the entire place was filled with roses and splashes of red were visible everywhere.

Ning Yan was kneeling in front of the coffee table and taking photos of the single rose there from multiple angles. He seemed to really like it.

Lin Rong’s face filled with happiness as he quietly watched the scene.

When Ning Yan was satisfied, he turned around to discover that the man had been watching him since goodness knew when. He blushed and demanded, “Why didn’t you call me…”

He stood up and put away the phone. Then he walked towards the dining table with a serious expression.

He heard the man’s quiet laugh and his face became even redder.

Lin Rong’s skills in the kitchen were really amazing. Ning Yan had been stunned the first time he tasted something the guy had made.

Ning Yan was someone who couldn’t take care of himself very well. When he was by himself, he’d order takeout for at least seven or eight, if not nine, out of ten meals.

The two of them sat on opposite ends and quietly ate their food. Occasionally one would glance at the other but it didn’t feel awkward. Ning Yan’s foot kicked back and forth happily under the table.

When they were about done, Lin Rong lightly coughed a few times.

Ning Yan blinked and hurriedly put down his chopsticks, not knowing what the guy wanted.

Turned out that Lin Rong went to grab the cake.

“What flavor cake did you buy?” Ning Yan liked sweet things and waited expectantly by the table.

Lin Rong didn’t say, but Ning Yan blinked when Lin Rong brought out the cake.

The cake wasn’t big, about 4 inches, perfect for two people.

The cake was white with a ring of delicious-looking strawberries around it. There was a scrawny little figure in the middle… that looked a lot like Ning Yan.

After all, the little figure was wearing the same white suit that Ning Yan had once worn during a concert.

But the drawing… left much to be desired.

Ning Yan blinked and once he recovered, he looked up at the guy across from him.

The man’s gaze shifted and his ears were pink, as if in embarrassment.

In the end, he did move his gaze back and looked at Ning Yan. He said, “Yanyan, happy birthday.”

Ning Yan’s fingers curled and he asked, “Did you make this yourself?”

“Mmhmm…” Lin Rong felt self-conscious again as he answered, “I went out and made it today. It’s not pretty but it should taste fine, Yanyan—”

“I really like it,” Ning Yan interrupted.

Lin Rong briefly paused.

Ning Yan looked at him seriously and said, “I really like it. Thank you.”

There was a temporary silence but the temperature was rising.

Ning Yan didn’t know how to describe his emotions.

At first when he realized Lin Rong had a crush on him, aside from having been a bit scared by the intensity of the roomful of posters, in private—and he had to admit this—in private, he had been just a bit happy.

Why was he secretly happy?

Ning Yan had forced himself to ignore it, to lie to himself.

But he couldn’t pretend anymore.

His fists clenched tightly and his palms were burning. He could vaguely remember that on that summer day five years ago, he had met the gaze of the younger version of this man in his dad’s office at Morning Star Entertainment. His fingers had slipped and he subconsciously played the wrong note.

That tiny sound had been like a skipped beat.

Ning Yan’s gaze fell back onto the cake.

He picked up his fork and placed a bite in his mouth. So sweet.

“… Is it good?” Lin Rong curved his lips and asked gently.

Ning Yan nodded, paused, and then lowered his eyes. He asked softly, “Anything my boyfriend makes is delicious.”

Lin Rong’s pupils constricted and his body instantly tensed.

Ning Yan bit the tiny fork and asked quietly, “Does my boyfriend want to know how sweet?”

==========================================

The time ticked by, second by second, minute by minute.

There were still half the dishes left on the table.

The tiny cake was missing a corner, revealing the bright red strawberries between its layers.

A chair pressed against the wall closest to the dining table. The young man curled up on the chair was trapped between the man and the wall. His head tilted back to accept a deep kiss that drove him insane.

The strawberry burst between their lips and the sweet and sour juice dripped down someone’s chin and was licked clean, bit by bit.

The back of Ning Yan’s head was cradled and his waist was held tightly against someone. He felt like he could evaporate from the heat of his own body.

He felt like he’d lost control of his lips, his head, and his soul.

He hugged the man’s neck and back and was even becoming a bit addicted to the sensation of his soul coming undone under the man’s lips.

What to do? This is too crazy but he can’t stop.

As the two separated, Ning Yan panted with his eyes glazed over.

The man tilted his head and changed angles as he pressed another deep kiss on Ning Yan.

Ning Yan lifted his head and closed his eyes again.

He heard the man murmur “so sweet” against his lips.

He felt the man kiss his lips again and again.

He was picked up and moved to the sofa.

Ning Yan’s voice was almost feeble as he demanded, “You… why are you so good at kissing!”

“I’ve kissed Yanyan so many times in my dreams,” the man murmured.

“What… what other things have you done to me in your dreams, you big pervert!” Ning Yan demanded without much heat.

The man kissed his chin and said with a hoarse voice, “I haven’t done anything Yanyan didn’t let me do. Yanyan…”

Ning Yan grabbed a hold of the man’s collar and popped one of its buttons.

The man’s black hair was mussed, his shirt had been spread open, and he looked irresistibly handsome.

Ning Yan’s field of vision darkened and he thought he might pass out. He, he, he’s so screwed. He can’t resist the man’s charm and he feels like giving the man his everything.

The guy was still bending down to hug him and pressed wet kisses all the way to the back of his ears. “Yanyan…”

Ning Yan trembled and swallowed. He asked shakily, “Did you-you bring cond…”

Suddenly he felt that something was wrong and shoved the man aside as he tumbled down from the sofa.

Lin Rong fell onto the floor in a daze. He hurriedly stood up and asked, “Yanyan?”

Without saying a word, Ning Yan stumbled into the bathroom on shaky legs and slammed the door shut.

Lin Rong’s face paled and he immediately followed after. But the bathroom door was blocked. It wasn’t that he couldn’t push it open, but he was afraid of using too much force and injuring Ning Yan. He asked anxiously, “Yanyan, what is it? Are you not feeling well?”

“You, you, you, you get out! Go home. We’re done for today!” Ning Yan’s voice was filled with surprise and terror.

“Yanyan?” Lin Rong frowned, “How can I leave you like this?”

“I—”

Ning Yan only had time to say one word before he yelped in surprise and then fell silent.

Lin Rong thought something was wrong. He turned the door handle one more time and decided that, no matter what, he’d get the door open.

But this time it didn’t take him much effort. The door opened with a single push.

Lin Rong blinked in surprise and walked through the open door. There was nobody in the decently-sized bathroom, just a pile of clothes scattered by the door.

He suddenly thought of something and his entire body stiffened. He glanced around briefly and then his gaze fell on the right corner of the bathroom.

The white puppy was curled up pitifully behind the mop. His head was tucked away and he trembled as he refused to meet Lin Rong’s gaze.

Lin Rong swallowed a few times.

Ning Yan was about to go crazy.

Why has he suddenly changed back?

It hasn’t been three hours, right?

Fears will one day come true. It had screwed up at such an important moment. Great, he hears the sound of the door opening and also hears the man’s silence—

Ning Yan knew that one day he’d have to tell Lin Rong the entire truth, but this moment had come too suddenly and caught him way off guard. He was so scared he didn’t want to look up.

He heard the sound of footsteps approaching and started trembling. His mind drew a blank.

How will the big pervert react?

Wait, come to think of it, Ning Yue had always told Lin Rong that he was taking the puppy back here. So wasn’t it natural for “Sese” to be here?

No, hold on again, forget about how weird it would be for Lin Rong to open the doors and only find “Sese” when he had seen with his own eyes how Ning Yan had rushed into the bathroom—

Focus on the fact that Lin Rong has neither seen “Sese” nor asked after “Sese” this entire time in his apartment

Ning Yan paused in shock.

He had been so happy to see Lin Rong that he had completely forgotten about it.

And Lin Rong hadn’t asked.

Why was this?

Wasn’t this strange?

Also, why hasn’t Lin Rong passed out because of the Pact-aura even though Lin Rong saw him turn into his demon form?

And Lin Rong wasn’t drunk this time!

In the next second, the man’s footsteps stopped in front of him.

Ning Yan felt the man squat down and pick him up, holding him tightly in his arms.

Then the man gently stroked his back, saying quietly, “Yanyan, don’t be afraid.”
